Dentinho Ruled Out As Arsenal's Striker Hunt Continues

Whilst fans and the media alike are baffled to the identity of Arsenal’s new South American striker, two important pieces of information have been released, which rule out the front runner, Dentinho.

Young Guns first revealed news of the Gunners interest in the Corinthians front-man in January 2007, and although the player himself was open to a move to North London, a £3 million offer was rebuffed. The 19-year-old has since gone from strength to strength, meaning the Brazilian outfit can expect a bumper fee for the diminutive forward.

The rumour contradicts the claims by Tribuna de Salamanca, who initially interviewed Richard Law, they claim that the signing will cost ‘Almost Nothing, Or Nothing At All’. Law confirmed in early September the intentions to seal the transfer of the mystery marksman, with speculation rife over who the player could be.

Several names have been branded around, but while there is nothing serious at the moment, one thing is certain, and that’s whoever is signed, the player will spend the next two campaigns on loan in Spain.

The quality of players brought in could be affected by The Unions current League status, yet after victory over Eibar on Sunday, UDS have travelled to the summit of the table, and are now firm contenders from promotion. This is something Law has welcomed.

“The next step in our agreement would become active once Salamanca go up to the first division. Not only because more places would open for players, but because a higher calibre of Arsenal players could compete in the first division and get great experience.”

Salamanca have two main centre forwards on their books currently. Giant striker Gorka Azkorra was drafted in over the summer, but has failed to score a competitive goal for his new side, despite being the first choice. The other option is another loanee, Nicolás Fedor known simply as ‘Miku’, the much travelled youngster is on loan from Valencia, but he has also struggled for form.

It leaves a title chasing team without a goalscorer, something badly needed if the target of promotion is to be achieved. The pressure would be on for the loan player who arrives in January, although he would be earning great experience and almost guaranteed a regular slot, should he manage to find the net.

any speculation as to who it may be. obviously must be a relative unknown but they’re not just going to pluck a name out of thin air and pack them off to spain. any young south americans causing a stir at the moment who might be availiable on a free?

Well I couldn’t believe those Brazilian sources when they were bandying around rumours we were to sign Dentinho. He is meant to be the next big striker and at 19 and a first team player we surely weren’t expecting to get him for a minimal fee.
It is still exciting to be linked with a South American prospect. Possibly someone not well known or as rated highly compared other prospects by the South American club but we see something in him. We were once linked to Mexican Cesar Villaluz but I don’t think that is gonna materialise.

J.S, still no indications of who it might be. Are you sure the Howley quotes are being taken in context. Perhaps there’s some confusion here. What is good to see is that we were mentioned in related to this guy in Jan’07, which indicates that our south america scouts are on there game!

As for el homo, why don’t you*ck off to somewhere that gives shit about grammer. Knob jockey (or should that be Knob-jockey or knobjockey. . . )

England U19’s beaten 4-1 by Serbia last night in a ‘dead rubber’ game. Good old fa.com shows Lansbury & Emmanuel-Thomas in the team, with JUSTIN Hoyte as a sub…………obviously the oldest player to represent England at U19 level.

I struggle to understand why we need a striker. Van Persie, Adebayor, Eduardo, then Bendtner and Vela, Then Barazite, Sunu and Fonte, Then Murphy, Freeman not to mention Afobe and Deacon looks a bit useful aswell. Not to mention Walcott and Watt who are a bit of a wild card pair of possibilities as far as that position goes. Simpson aswell of course although im still edging on the point of view that he doesnt have the composure to be an Arsenal player and will be moved on come the end of the season…but u neva know.

Unless who eva it is, is incredible and therefore we’d be idiotic to turn the oppertunity down i fail to see how a new striker would add anything to the side. All it’ll do will be inhibit the development of the other strikers we already have, none of whome are bad players in my opinion.

altho i agree with your points we must remember arsenal were once overpacked with players on the wing: reyes pires ljungberg bentley owusu abeyie wiltord kanu e.t.c. where are they now we currently almost have a shortage of wingers.

I see your point but that was due to a run of bad luck with Reyes and Bentley getting home sick/impatient and Abeyle not living upto his potential, a bit of bad management with Pires leaving who i think we should have held onto for another couple of seasons as well as not buying in replacements.

I just feel like this runs deeper, u have 3 arguably world class strikers in Van Persie, Adebayor and Eduardo, 3 players who will be of that standard with in 2 or 3 seasons or possibly less in Bendtner, Vela and Walcott, Barazite who looks like he can follow suit and Sunu, Fonte, Freeman, Murphy, Afobe, Deacon who look like they have real potential.

I just cant see how we can bring in another player between the age of 18 and 20 with out saying to one of the lads around that age, sorry but time up. And if we dont none of them will get enough oppertunities to reach their potential and the younger lads will be held back aswell.

If anything we should be looking at bringing in a few blindingly promising CBs, Full backs or Wingers, not strikers.

It’s also unlikely to be Lulinha. A big prospect for a minimal fee? You’re joking. I want it to be true though but very unlikely according to the criteria mentioned.

Surely this meant the transfer would cost SALAMANCA nothing. Why would a Salamanca newspaper care how much Arsenal spent?
