Frimpong Sent Off For England, Özyakup Nets For Dutch

England Under 17’s sealed their place in the Elite qualifying round for the European Championship’s last night with a 1-1 draw against an impressive Spain side, despite having two players sent off.

With two games in quick succession, manager John Peacock opted to rotate his team, although there was no place in the starting XI for Tottenham play-maker John Bostock. Luke Freeman joined him among the substitutes, Jack Wilshere and Emmanuel Frimpong started.

The Lions got off to a perfect start as an early Jacob Walcott strike handed the visitors a 10th minute advantage – not the first time a Walcott has come up with the goods for his country. However, despite the goal, Spain pushed England onto the back foot for the majority of the game.

Watford’s Eddie Oshodi was then sent off for two cheap bookings, leaving his team rocking. Minutes after, Arsenal’s Frimpong joined Oshodi in having an early bath, he was also given his marching orders for two cheap yellow cards.

Eventually the pressure tolled. Half Time sub Pablo Sarabia caused Ezekiel Fryers trouble at the back, leading to the Manchester United defender putting through his own net with 10 minutes left.

Whilst Emmanuel, Luke and Jack were having a frustrating night in Spain, Gunners colleague Oğuzhan Özyakup was having better fortunes with Holland.

He doubled his tally of goals for Holland by converting a penalty during a 3-0 win over Italy. His early conversion was added to by efforts from Shabir Isoufi and a second half goal by Nygel Velder, before a late rally from Italy set up a tight finish. It ended 3-2 to the Netherlands.

The foursome are all expected to return to London in the next few days.

Nice to see Ozzy growing into the International Scene each time he goes away. Captain the other week, penalty taker this week, it seems he’s becoming a big part of the set up in Holland with some responsibilities.

Unfortunate for Frimpong on the other hand, how did Wilshere do in general J?

Sometimes they are on Eurosport.. the main compeition certainly will be.

Ozzy is flying at the moment, he is probably the most exciting Dutch youngster at this level.

Wilshere is having abit of a dip in form at the moment, his usual explosive naturehas just gone missing in recent weeks.

A lot of quality in this team, but with the rotations, you would expected him to feature. He isn’t injured, because he came on late in the game.

I have heard so many versions of this Jacob/Theo relation. Some say they are related while others have stated they are not related at all. Well what matters is that we have Theo.

Well I think after drawing with Armenia 0-0 something needed to change. We then beat Estonia 7-0 without Bostock starting. Maybe the midfield were more creative without him, or maybe he was having a bad effect on the team (possibly big headed?).

Either way, with a midfield composed of Frimpong, Wilshire, Shelvey and Knott the manager was spoiled for choice.

Holland U17 won 5-2 not 3-2. After a 5-0 lead (Ozzie, Isoufi 2x, Velder, Janssen) Italy scored twice. Ozyakup and Isoufi are the starplayers of the team. The next day in a French tournament Holland U16 beat Italy 3-0. Also seems to be a good generation for the Dutch.
