Reports:

Nacer Barazite – Derby 2-1 Plymouth Argyle (90 Minutes)
Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester 1-1 Oldham (90 Minutes)
Armand Traoré – Portsmouth 0-0 Aston Villa (78 Minutes)

Previews:

Havard Nordtveit & Pedro Botelho – UD Salamanca V Tenerife

Nacer Barazite – Derby County 2-1 Plymouth

With the week being dominated by news that Derby’s game against Norwich will be investigated by the FA, Nacer Barazite was out of the country, helping Holland Under 19’s to qualify for the Euro’s.

The Dutchman started wide on the right as Paul Jewell’s men took on a robust Plymouth at Pride Park. It was Argyle who started the better, on loan striker Paul Gallagher put the visitors into an 8th minute lead.

Kris Commons’ return to action was ended after 20 minutes, Davies replaced the Scottish International. Barazite began well, a dipping free-kick caused chaos in the box, before Nacer cut inside a flashed a shot just wide.

Barazite was Derby’s most influential player of the first period, his explosive run down the right would prove decisive. The resulting clipped cross would be thumped into the net by Rob Hulse, the crucial equaliser.

Hulse and Davies had chances to put County in front but failed, until from the latter’s corner eventually did. Paul Green was the grateful recipient. Davies himself then got injured, and with Nathan Ellington already being brought on, Naz would complete the 90 minutes.

No further goals meant it finished 2-1, Derby are on the up.

Armand Traoré – Portsmouth 0-0 Aston Villa

Armand Traoré kept his place in the Portsmouth team for their trip to the midlands to take on Aston Villa, with the Frenchman being linked with a more permanent stay with Pompey this week.

It was the visitors who began the better. Peter Crouch nearly flicked in Little’s looping cross from the wing, only a solid header from Davies denied the lanky marksman. John Carew had a similar chance down the other end, James was called into action.

Jermain Defoe and Davies exchanged opportunities to score, before a classy passing move sent Traoré in, he saw his powerful effort cannon of the post. Diop’s overhead kick proved to the be the final action of the first half, 0-0.

Villa turned on the pressure after the break, Agbonlahor and Reo-Coker should have punished slack defending, Pompey were just escaping. Things would get even harder when Sean Davis was sent off for a second bookable offence.

On 78 minutes Armand was withdrawn, but it finished 0-0.

Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 1-1 Oldham

Kerrea Gilbert’s date in court has been set for the new year following a charge for drink driving, but it was back to football this weekend, as he continued in the Leicester’s promotion chasing outfit.

A scrappy first half meant Gilbert’s only action came via several long throws, the half time whistle couldn’t have come any quicker.

In a reversal of fortunes, the second period was almost a complete turn around. Big Steve Howard managed to put City in front with the hour marker approaching, but not to be undone, Danny Whittaker pounced for one-a-piece.

A draw was probably fair, and that’s exactly what happened. A goal each, and a point each.

Pedro Botelho & Håvard Nordtveit – UD Salamanca V Tenerife (Late Kick Off)

Pedro Botelho will be in contention for a start this evening as table topping UD Salamanca aim to continue their excellent recent form and extend the advantage at the top of the standings.

Botelho aggravated a slight ankle problem in training this week, meaning he missed Thursdays session. However, Jurado is fit after missing the whole of pre-season, Pedro joked to the local media that his injury is a cover-up, to allow the Spaniard a return to the team.

Nordtveit has completed his duty with the Norway Under 19 national team, and with 3 goals to his name from those fixtures, he is bang in form, especially for a defender.

Check back later for a full Match Report.

Haha, no idea mate. He is playing on the wing, and doesn’t have the freedoms he does in the Reserves, so can’t really drift inside and link things up.

Well if he hasn’t got information of the game, what do you expect him to do? Some criticism of J is fair, but on this one, he ain’t some kind of God, do you expect him to scout everything everywhere on Saturdays and during the week?

“The fixture kicks off at 11am at Norwich’s ‘Colney’ training headquarters, the Under 16’s will also make the trip. A Match Report will be available on Young Guns shortly after Full Time”.

Shortly after full time? When did finish it around 7pm?
Just don’t promise what you cant deliver.Maybe re word it to ” a report will follows as soon as is possible”? Other than that its an outstanding site. :-)

Another assist for Barazite! Due to his height and the description of his play I always thought he would be more of player similar to Ibrahimovic. Off the youtube clips I’ve seen of him as well he seems to move very similarly to Zlatan when he gets in attacking positions. It seems though that most of his assists have come from corners/crosses. Which player would you say his game most resembles (even if it is a poor-mans version)?

BTW, love the website. I’ve been a regularly reader for the last 6-9 months. Always excited by the youngsters coming thru especially in this era and had to quench my thirst purely from reading the official Arsenal website’s reserve/youth match reports for the last couple of years.

Keep up the good work, I’ll certainly continue to read.

    Cheers.

Dave, in the later update on the team news we did correct it.

‘A full Match Report will available tomorrow afternoon.’.

I don’t think people were so desperate for it, they couldn’t wait a little longer.

Yeah Dave, lay off JS. This is a fantastic site with dedication to the Arsenal youngster. You can’t find these all these information in a SINGLE source anywhere.
