Pedro Botelho & HÃ¥vard Nordtveit – UD Salamanca 2-0 SD Huesca
Promotion chasing UD Salamanca knew the importance of a win this evening, as they looked to cement their position at the top of the Segunda table.
The Helmántico stadium had one of it’s biggest attendances of the campaign – 6,700 people packed into the ground to watch the League’s entertainers against minnows Huesca. HÃ¥vard Nordtveit returned from international duty, but was not selected, Pedro Botelho remained on the bench.
An unbeaten home record this season meant the hosts were expected to come away with the points, and after Stephen Cohen scored with 5 minutes left of the half, everything was going according to plan. Quique MartÃn sealed the win half way through the second half, continuing his amazing scoring spree.
Botelho and Nordtveit were unused by manager David Armaral, but the duo are sure to play their part as The Union continue their promotion push.
Armand Traor̩ РPortsmouth 1-1 Fulham
Tony Adams picked the Portsmouth team this afternoon as the Blues hosted Fulham at Fratton Park, looking to get back to business after a hectic 24 hours. Armand Traoré moved back to the left wing after his UEFA Cup exploits at left back, and started well, assisting Kaboul in a snatched shot.
On 17 minutes Armand’s intelligent twist and turn saw him release Crouch, the former Liverpool hit-man teed up Defoe who won a corner via a deflected shot. Jimmy Bullard worked James with two long range strikes, but the first half ended level.
With an hour on the clock, finally the opener. Jermain Defoe’s slide pass found Crouch, who coolly finished to send the Pompey fans wild. Shouts of ‘Who The F**k Is Harry Redknapp’ rang around the ground, yet the fans were nearly left stunned by a powerful volley from Bullard.
However, it should have been 2-0 moments after. Traoré’s quick feet bought him time to release Defoe, only the difficult angle denied a certain goal. On 84 minutes the Arsenal loanee was withdrawn, Niko Krancjar coming on after injury.
The attacking change proved to be a mistake, as Clint Dempsey crashed home Nevland’s cross with 3 minutes left. Defoe had one last chance to save the points, but it finished 1-1.
Nacer Barazite – Derby County 1-1 Coventry
Nacer Barazite’s injury is not bad as first believed, although the Dutch winger will miss the next few weeks. The 18-year-old just strained his knee, but did not suffer any tearing or snapping of the ligaments as initially feared.
On the pitch, Barazite’s influence was missed as Derby drew 1-1 with Coventry. Rob Hulse’s opener was cancelled out by a late Clinton Morrision strike.
Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 0-0 Northampton Town
Kerrea Gilbert missed Leicester City’s 0-0 draw with Northampton Town on Saturday though injury. The 21-year-old right back has been an ever-present this campaign, yet with his court case impending for drink driving, coupled with this injury, it’s turning out to be a difficult few weeks for Gilbert.

Why is Nordveit in Spain? A complete waste of his time tbh. And that other Brazilian although he looks ok I would rather have Traoae in my squad.
TRaore is rarely being used as a left back any more, so Botelho aint really direct competition.
Gibbs is the one who is Clichy’s understudy and when Botelho finally gets the permit, will be a quality addition to our wafer thin squad as he can play in a few positions, like TRaore too!
Thank god Barazite’s injury is not too serious!!
Yeah, when he was low key, i said watch out for him. And now he is bossing things at Leeds, but I don’t think he will be coming here.
Fans are so fickle. Pompey fans should look at where is has left them and he is going to a bigger club because Spurs always seems to raise high funds for transfer activity.
Thank goodness for Barazite, also Traore must learn to use the inside of the full back as well as outside of the full back when dribbling or running off-the-ball otherwise he remains to predictable.
Ben Jones, how can expect an 18 yr old CB who is not physically robust enough and doesnt currently have the best positioning like many Arsenal CB to be picked for Salamanca in such a crucial position? We will have to send on loan to a Championship outfit next season when he returns from is current loan spell for him improve his art of defending because they will be more willing to play him as he has been on loan before.
Salamanca are starting to annoy me!They also still want us to get them a striker.
i watched portsmoth game, traore really murdered fulham’s right back. i don’t know he can dribble that good. he definitely not a left back. when he came back from this loan spell, we would have an out and out left winger.

Twice he has left Portsmouth, jumped ship when the going got a bit tough and he left them now when they financially aren’t doing so well and are having a mediocre start to the season. If I was a pompey fan id be going radio rental over the way he dumped them twice. That’s not fickle jsut supporters upset and hurt! You would to.

Just like to ask How Jay Simpson is getting on was a breath of fresh air down the den last season , how is he progressing in the Prem and is there a chance we could get him back ?
J Sanderson, do u have any inside information about this rumour? are we actually interested or is the media trying to fabricate/ push us to sign young another british player?

The video shows that he has good ball striking but his technical skills cannot be assessed from that video and to our club that his more important.

We’ve only seen him once in the first team, and that was in the Carling Cup (plus som pre-seasonmatches). Its a big chance that he will leave in january, but not to L1 I think, probably CCC.
I think we should play our CC team in the FA Cup too :|
