Traoré Faces Uncertain Future As Redknapp Joins Spurs

Arsenal winger Armand Traoré has been left with an uncertain future this evening after North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur agreed to sign Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp.

The 19-year-old Frenchman is currently on loan with Pompey for the season, and cited the influence of Redknapp as key in his decision to move to Fratton Park. Indeed, Armand had been so delighted with his time spent their so far, he confirmed his interest in possibly staying on full time, last week.

The move came about after Tottenham sacked Juande Ramos and his backroom staff, leaving Traoré and his colleagues on the South Coast without a manager ahead of tomorrow’s Premiership clash with Fulham.

Redknapp, speaking on SkySports, has already come out and backed Tony Adams to take over the job, as the former Gunners defender does not wish to follow Harry to Spurs. Adams’ appointment at Portsmouth would be beneficial to Arsenal, who could send more loanees South to continue their development.

Armand only signed a long-term contract in the summer, yet with Gael Clichy proving a tough obstacle to pass, and talented youngsters Kieran Gibbs and Pedro Botelho waiting in the wings, the French Under 19 International looks set to be left sweating over his future.

I wouldn’t waste my time talking about Spurs for no reason, but the Traore situation is a worrying.

Avram Grant is among those being linked with Pompey.

A really interesting article on theo walcott. He’s really grown up. i remember going to a q&a session at arsenal a year or so ago with Theo and Justin Hoyte. i asked theo whether he was faster than Thierry? He replied ” Henry would probably say that im faster but i think hes faster” embaressed (for want of a better word) to be compared with such a great and his idol. Now he makes a joke about beating Henry’s 100m time. He sees Henry’s acievements as an inspiration.

I think Traore could improve the defensive side of his game if Adams works with him.

If Adams takes over it works two fold for us (cheers Spurs!).

Firstly, it means Adams manages his first Premiership club, getting the experience he needs for the job he was born to do later when Wenger leaves.

Secondly, feeder club in the Premiership! Woo and a hoo!

So let’s hope he gets a promotion.

    J. Sanderson calm down, the job will probably be given to Adams and Joe Jordan patnership so Traore will be fine. Also Pompey fans will never accept A Grant after causing H Redknapp to be sacked under previous ownership when he was sporting director.

There is a chance that Traore will move on as Kieran Gibbs and Pedro Botelho are also contenders. UNLESS, AW gives Cliche a game or two at Defensive Midfield, where his defensive and offensive abilities will cound more, his experience of playing with the current back 4, his pace to get back at opponents breaking from their midfield, his clean tackling, and leadership could be a bigger and better successful transition that emmanuel Pietie who also played most of his football at left back. That way we could hold onto both Kieran Gibbs and Pedro Botelho as cover for both left back and left wing. Pedro Botelho may even convert to CD one day.

I find all these people so pathetic on different blogs saying things like “I used to like Harry, now I’ll have to hate him.” I’ve always enjoyed Harry for his down-to-earth honesty and his self-effacing humour. I’m old enough to remember him playing for West Ham where he was a great favourite with the crowd, both for his playing ability and the fact that “Harry Redknapp on the wing” was always chatting and exchanging jokes with those near the sidelines during games. Him being manager of Spurs will not alter my opinion of him. He’s obviously been offered a lot of money, and who wouldn’t take it. He’s a realist and knows he’s on a hiding to nothing – but if Spurs stay up (and let’s face it, no matter how much glee we would feel at them going, they probably will stay up), he’ll be seen as the Saviour.

I also hope TA gets the Pompey job – another thoroughly good bloke who’s battled against his alchoholism and got his life together. Whether he’ll be any good remains to be seen – he flopped at Wycombe – but if Harry’s recommended him, he must be doing something right.

I find that if it is true what Traore has said about leaving Arsenal, it shows for me a lack of attitude to help him success. If you give up unless you are guaranteed a first team spot, it shows you lack an attitude for competition, discipline and improvement…and especially if he comes out in the newspaper. His competitor mr.Clichy showed much greater proffessionalism

i liked the pun about has Adams got the BOTTLE to take on the pompey job. It is funny because you gooners can never avoid talking about Spurs. Using the flimsy traore story to comment about the happenings at Spurs. Why dont you get on with focusing on your team and stop looking sideways at the true north londoners. fuck off back to woolwich you bloody immigrants. Tottenham is a place in North London. Woolwich Arsenal is a place down in the dirty South,,, right where u belong. What ever happens at Spurs we will focus on our team and whilst things havent panned out as hoped with Ramos sadly, i believe the board have acted based on the current situation and made the necessary changes. Arry has the experience for this type of situation and he also now has a money at his disposal to finally be the manager he has always wanted to be. Lets hope we beat you next week to get the ball rollin….

Traore’s playing in left midfield, so Clichy, Gibbs, Botelho, Sansom, Sylvinho, Winterburn and who ever aint really his competition for a place!

Will be good to see how Adams does as a manager now.

I really hope Traore stays. I prefer Nasri to him at the moment, of course, but Traore could turn out better than what Nasri is now…if he can score goals. He’ll be a very decent left-winger for us and Gibbs will become a good left back; however, unless Wenger does perfect rotations, one of Clichy or Gibbs and Nasri or Traore or Wilshere even will have to go. I’d like all of them (especially Clichy and Wilshere) and to have a lot of depth in the future but realistically speaking, we can’t keep ’em all.

Only a couple of weeks ago Redknapp was disgusted at the vile homophobic and rascist chanting so beloved of the Spurs fans. Now he is their manager. You really have to admire a man of principle and one who cannot be bought.

“Arsenal winger Armand Traoré” Just to point out that, if he is a winger, then Clichy, Pedro and Gibbs won’t be standing in his way to the first team as none of them play that position!!! I know he can play both positions, but he is showing real promise as a winger and to be honest I wouldn’t trust him to defend anyway so only Nasri and Thomas “im still here” Rosicky stand in his way.
