Wilshere Assists, Freeman Scores, England Win 7-0

Arsenal striker Luke Freeman was among the scorers this evening as England Under 17’s routed Estonia in their second group game of the European Championship qualification stage.

After a disappointing 0-0 draw on match day one, the pressure was on in the Tenerife sunshine to come away with the points. Jack Wilshere and Emmanuel Frimpong joined Freeman in the starting lineup, the Arsenal trio would play key parts in the win.

The opening goal took 20 minutes in arriving, but eventually the pressure tolled. Wilshere’s wide free kick on the right hung in the air, Tom Parkes took advantage to power home the opener.

Just 16 minutes later, it was 2-0, and the game was all but over. Ryan Tunnicliffe’s powerful run saw him through on goal, but after his shot was saved, quick reactions from José Baxter meant John Peacock’s side were cruising.

Jonjo Shelvey replaced Frimpong at half time, the change proved decisive as the Charlton winger made it 3-0 with the pick of the strikes, a stunning volley into the corner. Freeman’s left footed tap in from close range showed his composure, but he was subbed off shortly after.

Jacob Walcott came on for Wilshere on 55 minutes, Tottenham’s John Bostock was an unused substitute.

Baxter completed his brace before Luke’s replacement, Liam Head, made it 6. The rout was finished in stoppage time, Tunnicliffe on target. The Under 17’s face Spain in the final group game on Monday.

Jonjo Shelvey is a big prospect, could be better than Bostock, could be worse. Both big prospects though. Wilshere you know is the biggest prospect. What happened to the guy Spear? He had big ambitions but he is not picked for England yet.

Bostock was subbed in the first game and then dropped for the second. Considering that he’s the captain, Peacock must be really unhappy with his performances. Maybe poor form is infectious and there plently of that at the Spurs. What a mistake he made joining them!

Must say that Tunnicliffe looks to be the real deal for ManU. He’s almost a year younger than Wilshere and he’s made an impression in all the games he’s played.

“Can break his (bostock’s) leg in training,” I hope you mean. Even then, it’s a cruel thing to say mate, those hopeless yids down in shite hart lane need every little bit of success they can get at the moment :P

Plus, I wouldn’t want to see any of our top midfield playmakers having to resort to ‘getting stuck in’ tackles, they got more defensive skill & composure, I’d hope.

bostock is by far a better prospect than shelvey. I don’t know why he didnt start because he was very impressive against portugal and italy at the fa tournament. He probably had a very bad game against Armenia. I would play bostock and wilshere from the start, the other team would never see the ball

Danny (& others who might still use it), I’m sure you don’t mean it in the worse possible sense of the word…but any chance we can stop using the “Y” word when describing our mates up-the-road? “Scum” is much more acceptable (although I apologise to other Scum on the planet who might take offence at being associated with ’em? :-) ) Cheers & All the best!

Graham, from what i have heard, Turnniclife is a box-to-box midfielder, but i havent seen him play to assess his technical skills so i cannot really comment on him but goal getting can sometimes be deceiving.

    Drogbabas
    Wilshere born 1 Jan 92
    Turnniclife born Dec 30 92
Drogbabas, there is 11 months 29 days difference between them

Not a lotta people are aware of how well off England are for quality midfielders in this group. Five in one year is remarkable. It’s only recently that I realised how good the schoolboy Tunnicliffe is.

I actually meant i hope Wilshere can break Tunnicliffe’s leg in training. I was only joking btw, I despise hooliganism in football and bad takles make me sick.
