Exclusive – Arsenal V Wigan – Squad Details

12 Arsenal Reserve team players have been added to Arsene Wenger’s squad for tomorrow’s Carling Cup clash with Wigan, Young Guns can reveal.

Portuguese Under 19 International Rui Fonte, on loan from Sporting Lisbon, has made the first team squad for a competitive fixture for the first time in his Arsenal career, whilst midfielders Emmanuel Frimpong, Francis Coquelin and Mark Randall retain places after being involved in the previous round at home to Sheffield United.

Rui has 3 goals for Neil Banfield’s Reserves this campaign, and after improving his physique and adapting his playing style to suit the English game, his hard work has been rewarded. A place on the bench seems most likely, with Jay Simpson set to partner Carlos Vela in attack.

Predicted Starting XI

Fabianski
Hoyte – Song – Djourou – Gibbs
Wilshere – Randall – Ramsey – Merida
Simpson – Vela

Subs – Mannone – Ogogo – Bischoff – Frimpong – Coquelin – Lansbury – Fonte

Due to popular demand, and after our coverage of the Sheffield United game went down so well, we will again be covering all of Arsenal’s exploits during the Carling Cup.

Nope because Bischoff and Fonte are 21 and 18 and Jay Thomas and Bendtner are 17 and 20.

My word there’s some talent in that midfield. In four years time you wouldn’t be complaining if they were your options for the first team.

Bischoff in for Simpson I would say, with him, Wilshere and Merida supporting Vela from a 4-5-1 formation.

You should change the name of this site to “Young Guns: we just make stuff up!”

Typically, in an ‘exclusive’ you’d want to have a source…

Interesting squad list and you are normally pretty much on the money… but I would not be surprised if the squad and starting eleven includes Toure (as captain)

He is not playing as much as he was and despite the quality in the team, we normally play a couple of first teamers.

On a seperate note, anyone know how many games Van Persie is suspended for ? Beacause again if it is only one he may be on the bench

Actually the squad list wasn’t on the AFC website when this article was posted last night; so it is in fact a SCOOP.

Good luck to the boys tonight.

Both Vela and Simpson are both N.o 9s so they will not compliment each other, also why do people suck up to Simpson bcuz i dont see it, his composure in front needs to improve big time so he is always snatching @ everything in front of goal.

We will be much better in this match by playing a natural N.o10{Ramsey, Wilshere & Bischoff} behind Vela and keep simpson on the bench for if we need to change the match.

Bischoff is a natural no.10/Hleb so… Wilshere, Ramsey, Randall, Merida Behind him in a 4-5-1 would produce all the creativity needed for vela (up top) to get another hatrick tonight ;)

Why isn’t Nordveit in the squad?

Nordtveit isn’t in the squad because he isn’t registered with the team, in an awkward set back from him leaving Salamanca too early. Supposedly he won’t be able to play for Arsenal at any level till the turn of the year. It’s all very confusing but I’m sure the club are trying to sort it out, and if he was that unhappy, and not going to played whereever, maybe its best he’s training at our world class facilities.

Yeah Nortviet can’t play till January. Should have stayed at Salamanca unless something was going on that Arsenal didn’t like that we didn’t know about.

Dont mean to stir anything but for CB mentality, he is a QUITTER for returning to Arsenal when he couldnt be registered to play till Jan 1, he should have stuck it out no matter what till Jan 1 [No excuses].

The only game he can play his the Nott Forest Closed door match at the training ground. He had no God given right for 18 yr old CB to playing as much as he wanted especially if he doesnt show any sign of improvement in training and Salamanca coach is vindicated by their start of the season.

This was posted last night, and Arsenal.com did not release it until this morning.

So yes it is a scoop, and thank you for those who pointed it out.
