Arsenal V Tottenham – FA Youth Cup – Match Preview

Arsenal V Tottenham games are always special. Cup games are always special. So Arsenal V Tottenham in the F.A Youth Cup Quarter Final should be a special game, despite it being played out by the kids.

The Gunners head to White Hart Lane this evening to take on a highly rated Tottenham side, with a place in the semi-finals of the Cup at stake. Steve Bould has reiterated his desire to make these games as realistic to a first team fixture as possible – so expect drama in the 7.45 kick off.

Bould’s charges have surpassed most expectations in this competition this season, and now there is the general feeling that destiny will see the Cup come back to North London, 7 seasons after it left. However, Tottenham will be hoping it heads to their trophy cabinet, not their arch rivals.

Spurs’ XI consists of several lesser known talents, and one big name. Arsenal’s is pretty much the same. The hosts will boast John Bostock in the middle of the park, whilst his international colleague Jack Wilshere will be pulling the strings for the visitors.

In other team news, Rhys Murphy returned to training this week, and will have a late fitness test to determine how ready he is to feature. Oguzhan Ozyakup has been away with Holland, and he’s equally rated as doubtful.

Sean McDermott linked up with his new side on Monday, and will take a place on the Arsenal bench. Gilles Sunu will plow a lone furrow up top, whilst Francis Coquelin and Emmanuel Frimpong will anchor the midfield.

The midfield and forward has so much promise. Hopefully they will be able to interchange throughout the match. The week points seem the two full backs. I like the look of Ayling, confident and composed, I’ve seen him play RB and looked good and central midfield.

i know its well early days, but the players above are ones i really think can make it at Arsenal. I know Sunu was linked with a move back to France with Lyon, but hasn’t that idea been squashed now? Hope so!

    Come on you Gunners!

eastmond’s having a mare, he’s getting completely stuffed on the right.

most of the rest are having a good game – especially frimpong (apart from his shooting which is abysmal!!), JET, bartley and sunu.

what a performance – they were fantastic, we were so much better than them, dominated most of the game, 1st 20 minutes of the 2nd half they couldn’t get near us. apart from eastmond who got battered at RB by their striker mason and RW townsend, the rest of the team was fantastic. special mention to frimpong and JET in midfield who were brilliant, bartley and ayling were solid and classy, and sunu who led the line really well and was a constant danger to them.

JET and Frimpong look exceptional, mighty exceptional talents. The first team is crying out for a tough taclking central midfielder. Coquelin is also up there.

Great midfield future for the club.
