Arsenal Win Their Group After Edging Out Watford

Arsenal’s Under 18’s edged out their Watford counterparts this afternoon, to secure the final three points needed to wrap up the Academy League Group A title.

Roarie Deacon’s winner meant the Gunners are 22 points clear of closest challengers Southampton, with just 18 points left to play for.

Obed – Boateng – Miquel-Pons – Evina
Carruthers – Yennaris – Aneke – Rasmussen
Deacon – Neita

International duty robbed Steve Bould of Luke Freeman and Benik Afobe, so Nigel Neita and Roarie Deacon were presented with the task of leading the line.

Neita and Ozyakup both had early opportunities to put the visitors into the lead, but Watford set out their stall to spoil the party.

Shea’s reflexes were tested on 3 separate occasions in the first period, but both sides went down the tunnel level at half time.

The second half was a much more controlled and professional affair by Arsenal. They eventually got their reward when Roarie Deacon finished confidently to provide the game with its concluding strike. It was the scholar’s 5th of the campaign.

With the League now retained, Bould’s boys can turn their attention to the Youth Cup, safe in the knowledge that their play-0ff place is now secure.

Hey J, what happened to the “Loan Watch” feature you used to run on this site? It would be nice to know how the young Arsenal kids are doing elsewhere.

What players do you expect to go on loan, J ?
Cause i can’t see players like Traore, Simpson and Barazite coming into the first team without arsenal selling some players, or would you expect them to hover around the bench

Just fantastic news. But how it’s with this play-offs. We’ll play with the winners of group X or there will be a draw?

I think we’ve huge chances for double, haven’t we?

We’ll play the winners of Group B I believe.

Why not, there is a very strong chance that we can win both, but there is some top sides that stand in our way.

Yennaris has been called up for England u16s. I’m assuming Frimpong will miss the cup match as he’s in the England u17 squad (or was). England’s first game is on 25/3.

Håvard Nordtveit played well tonight (for Lillestrøm in Norway), with his cross ending up as 1-0 (no assist, they scored on a second atempt). Nordtveit looks assured to play right full back week in week out!

frimpong is not in the england squad 4 some reason maybe bacause of FA youth cup , wilshere was called up but has also been withdrawn but benik and luke freedman have call ups. I kno for a fact that jay thomas’s exclusion from the older U19’s age group is coz of fa youth cup plus they want to try out some new uncapped players see how they do @ international stage
