Blackpool Set To Swoop For Struggling Randall

After Mark Randall admitted his desire to seek more first team action on loan on Thursday, Championship outfit Blackpool are reportedly closing in on a deal to bring the Reserves skipper in on a temporary deal.

Randall replaced Gavin Hoyte as Neil Banfield’s captain in January, when the centre back left for Watford to gain vital experience. The 19-year-old was also tipped to follow Gavin out of the club, yet according to the midfielder himself, Arsène Wenger was cautious about sanctioning such a deal.

“I thought I was going to go on loan but I think part of the boss didn’t want me to go. That’s the way it goes sometimes.”

He spent time with Burnley in the latter stages of the last campaign, and Randall obviously relishes learning  in a first-team environment.

“I want to learn as much as possible playing in a first-team, any first-team as long as I’m playing. I don’t want to go away and not play. It’s good to have a bit of competition and have to fight for your position.”

The Seasiders have had a mixed season, and currently sit in 18th place in the Championship. They are one of a cluster of sides who are locked on 47 points, with Nacer Barazite’s Derby County being one of them.

With the season well and truly at it’s business end, Mark would no doubt learn plenty on the coast. Pool have a massive 9 players currently on loan, including Middlesbrough’s Graeme Owens, and according to several local and national sources, the former Northampton trainee will complete a switch in the coming weeks.

Randall had a lot of potential. I remember the first Emirates Cup when he was playing hollywood beckham passes with ease and think ‘hey, that kid could have a good future’. At times he looks like he has learnt what is needed to be a future good premiership midfielder but he never seems to apply it all at once! If his passing is on point, he’ll lose his temper; if his tackling is good, he’ll suddenly only be able to pass to the crowd etc.

However, at Arsenal we are aiming to produce the absolute BEST, and compete with the best: if you are not a complete footballer you won’t make the first team squad from now on. Wilshere, Ramsey, Coquelin, and from the way he is described on here E-Thomas seem like they have it, and Frimpong seems to be making a name for himself. And with a very young and exciting CMs already in the first team, I just don’t see a place for Randall here. But in the future, if he starts to sort his head out, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him, I dunno, taking over for Danny Murphy when he retires or something similar at a midtable Premiership team.

He needs to go. He has been more than dissapointing this year and I say that because he looks to have some talent. He needs to find his feet, play regularly and cut his mistakes out / tighten up his game. I hope he does well

J, the deadline for loan deals for the football league was on Thursday, I don’t think anyone can move clubs now unless they’re returning to their parent club.

I find it hard to see how Randall is any better than Sidwell, and if he couldn’t make it, I don’t see how Marky will.

no offence but I suspect wenger may not be expecting him to return if Blackpool like him. He isn’t young and he isn’t anywhere near the first team.

He needs regular first team football because he has obviously gone stale from playing far too much reserve team football IMO.

Don’t understand why those on the board expects everyone to be breaking into the 1st team at 19 and 20. There’s clearly a block at the moment with Diaby, Song, Eboe and Denilson being the first choice centre mids to back up Cesc. Randall played really well when he got a chance at the end of last season and I think hes been unlucky not to have been given a chance in one of the wide attacking midfield positions with all of our injuy problems we had earlier in the year . He will make it all you negative vibe merchants.
