Henri Lansbury spoke about reaching the “winning stage” of his career last week after returning to action during the Academy League Playoff final following his loan spell with Scunthorpe United, and the 18-year-old will get another opportunity to battle for honours when he lines up against Liverpool tomorrow night.
Steve Bould is set to recall Lansbury – who last played in the second round of the Cup at Sunderland where he scored two penalties – to help bolster his midfield ahead of the double headed duel which gets underway tomorrow night at the Emirates.
The rugged midfielder returns to the side two rounds later in the competition and his inclusion could see Bould revert to a 4-4-2 with Rhys Murphy and Gilles Sunu leading the line. That formation helped the Gunners claim the League title last week and the boss was clearly impressed with Henri’s performance.
“I thought he was fabulous in the second half. Before the break he was right wing, left wing, off the front – all over. He was a little bit undisciplined and we tried to rein that in a bit and in the second half and he started to look like the player we know he is.”
Having somebody who has played 16 times and scored four goals in League One earlier in the campaign will certainly be a massive boost in what promises to be a tight couple of games.
Remember to check back tomorrow for a full preview and later a report from all the action from the first leg. In the meantime, check out Arsenal TV Online to watch the kids training ahead of the fixture.

Lansbury is awesome he will break into the first team and become world class
Henri Lansbury is fucking awesome
Looking forward to cheering on the youth at the Emirates tomorrow, the stadium might not be packed but let’s really try and raise the roof anyway. Should be a great night.
Somebody has a vid of this guy?
Video of his first professional goal here –

Jay – if you reckon Henri is a starter and Murphy/Sunu up front that is likely to be: Henri – Coquelin – Frimpong – JET in midfield and no place for Jack!!! Surely not?!?!
Mind you, what an awesome line up that is becoming. Swap Jack in for Sunu and its looking like the long-term future.
JS whos better in central midfield lanbsury or frimpong? Personally i prefer lansbury cause hes better technically and hes more clever.
———–Coquelin—Frimpong————
Wilshere———Lansbury———-Thomas
——————Murphy——————
would be perfect.
I’ll be at the game. With Frimpong, JET, Wilshere, Murphy, and Lansbury, It really is value for money at £1 for my ticket!!
Is wilshere fit J?
I’ll be at the game with some liverpool fans. SHould be interesting and hop a good atmosphere.
Awesome!!!!! Good luck Gunners!!!! Score!!!!!!!!
Is the game broadcasted anywhere? Or just Justin TV? Arsenal Online TV should really show it?
i WISH i lived in london so i could go. if i did i’d be at all these games!
I think that Wilshere was rested for the academy final, but that’s pure speculation, ill be there tommorow night cheering on the boys and im off to Anfield for the secnd leg, Cmon you gunners!
Games on Setanta Sports 1 as is the second leg
I have watched the steve bould interview and Luke Ayling is avaiable he can play. Jack wilshere been training for two days and steve said he will make a desicion tomorrow. He said Liverpool front four are very dangerous and have alot of pace. Whats intresting is that man city finished 23 points ahead of liverpool and got battere by citys youth as well.
Jay, are you related to Lianne Sanderson, former Arsenal Ladies player?
BREAKING NEWS! VITO MANNONE SET TO START AGAINST STOKE.
Haven’t seen a lot of him tbh, do we think he will be ok? and is he realistically going to be first choice at Arsenal?
BREAKING NEWS! VITO MANNONE SET TO START AGAINST STOKE…..
Crocker93 , where do you get this info from?
its on bbc. almunia’s out and fabianski is doubtful
arsenal.com – fabianski is 50-50 and almunia is definitely out
That would also suggest that Szczesny may be on the bench 24 hours after the Youth Cup game?
Almost 48 hours, 1st team game is on Sunday.
I would love to see Mannone play. But it’s so obvious Fabianski will miraculously recover.
Luv your lineup Dan, the talent at Youth Level at Arsenal is crazy! I know everyone looks forward to Wilshere making it at Arsenal but personally, I can’t wait to see JET have a go coz he’s AWESOME. But then again, so is Jack, Henri, Coquelin, Frimpong….. DAMMIT we have 2 much talent :D
who is our 5th choice keeper is Szczesny aint available then? James Shea?
J Sanderson you will find that Szczesny can’t play in the FA Youth cup final, he is too old, the FA Youth cup has different rules from the Academy league, in it goalies can be a year older than the outfield players
Szczesny is too old for Youth Cup, J.Sanderson.
I thought Henri Lansbury had a suspected broken leg…?

Guys, I’m just wondering who do you call JET?
hmmm…i hope liverpool give their best, at their best they can beat anyone. should be good, but ill be missing it i think. theres is no way man city finished 23 points ahead of us, we didnt play enough games to drop that many.
either way, youll see alot of these players in future arse/pool squads

Any guess on who might break into the first team. I’m a Lansbury fan so I’m obviously prejudiced. What about JET?
No doubt that Henri and Jack might be the future of ours wings but when you look at our squad I dont really know where can he play. nasri 21, theo 20, vela 19, barazite 19, gibbs 19, traore 20 and of course rosicky, arshavin, eboue or diaby. I’m praying they will stay but if they’re going to ‘make it’ it could be because we sell or (un)fortunately someone gets injury (no doubt I think…)
Nacer Barazite,Armand Traore, will be sold, Thomas Rosicky is always injured, Samir Nasri will take Francesc Fabregas’s place in the middle when he jumps ship to Barcelona next season or the one after that. Kieran Gibbs is a left back, Emmanuel Eboue is a right back, Abu Diaby is a central midfielder and Carlos Vela and Theo Walcott are strikers, so that leaves pleanty of room for Jack Wilshere to play on the right or the left wing for the time being IMO.
Neither Barazite nor Traore will be sold. Wenger confirmed Armand is returning, and Nacer is far too gifted not to be given a chance.
Dear Mr Sanderson,
Can I just congratulate you on a job very well done. This site has great news, and good articles. I have NEVER read a bullshit article on here.
Best of all you don’t ramble on…like I’m starting to..?? I’ll get my coat !!
Seriously, keep up the good work
his loan spell hasnt been the best.
I’ve just written an article about Lansbury if anyone is interested, regarding his role as a box-to-box midfielder. Just click on my screen name. Cheers.
What’s the ticket situation w/ the fa youth cup game? can i just turn up in a couple hours and buy a seat?
Yes, but you will have to pay £10 instead of £5 because it’s a bit late
Also, the seating is unreserved
Get a ticket!
Problem is I’m waiting to hear back from a ‘Pool supporting mate who isn’t sure whether he’ll come or not, so I can’t just order online in case I’m out a tenner ordering 1 ticket too many.
you can buy tickets at highbury house, by the stadium
BREAKING NEWS: LUKASZ FABIANSKI PASSED FIT TO FACE STOKE SO MANNONE WILL BE ON BENCH. ALSO ADEBAYOR IS RULED OUT “INJURED”
can people watching the game give us some updates? I don’t have access to a stream.
10min
Coquelin giving away niggling fouls a couple already this is after one good chance for each team; wilshere picking up a ball from Sulu sending him free and through but he was caught up and tackled. Liverpool had a good chance when thier left midfielder was free on the left side of the box.
goal from sunu
20min
Arsenal defensively poor at set pieces ; a cheap free kick given away by Lansbury; is floated into the box by Liverpool and O’Shea flaps at it and luckily a free kick is given by a poor handball decision against Liverpool.
Arsenal have a good break; starting from Sulu, getting the ball, turning and running. The ball gets to JET and a beautiful outside of the foot ball gets to wilshere on the right who also plays a through ball to Lansbury. However great recovery from the left back who tackles Lansbury just before he shoots.
Frimpongs goes off with an injury, Watts comes on so Wilshere comes into midfield with Coquelin.
A beautiful ball by wilshere get Cruise free who crosses across the ground; however deflected to JET and can’t get his shot away.
Wilshere picks up the ball on the left cuts in; passes to Lansbury who quickly put Sulu through who slots to the right of the Keeper
Arsenal 1-0 Liverpool; Sulu 19:34
lads watch the match here:
http://www.justin.tv/sheffield_united/popout
1 nil Arsenal
23 Great flick by Sulu to Jet who return the ball to Sulu; who is through but is brought down by the Liverpool CB Ayala ; who get a yellow card but could have been a red card.
24 Resulting free-kick taken by JET; blocked by the wall who moved forward whilst it was taken, poor clearance by Liverpool; means Lansbury had a chance that was stopped for offside for Cruise.

Number 5 will be coming, but when?
no, it was watt, after a wonderful pass from wilshere.
yeah it was watt not ET bbc was wrong
yeah it was watt not JET bbc was wrong
okay thanks bbc is really sounding abit pants they saying that adebeyor’s days are numbered with JET playing so well.
JET is not a striker?!
well…this is not nice.
our defenders have been exposed for what they are, and we just haven’t shown up.
good game, but hopefully we can pull it back at anfield.
what a team wow … only saw last ten minutes but the passing was crisp we won possession so oftern commentators just seemed to focus on jack wilshere. i also think Watt looked very comfortable on the ball. JET looks like he knows what hes doing out there.
