Loanees – Nordtveit In Cup Action + Botelho

Håvard Nordtveit – Lillestrøm 2-1 Strommen

Håvard Nordtveit played the full 120 minutes as Lillestrøm edged out Strommen after-extra-time in the Norweigen Cup on Wednesday night.

Returning to his role at right back, Nordtveit had work to do straight away as he first glanced behind Nosa’s cross before blocking a second ball from the same player. His defensive input was crucial as Lillestrøm fought back in an emphatic matter.

Edwin Eziyodawe lashed the visitors in front but the lead lasted just 24 minutes. Trond Haugstad was on hand to turn home the rebound after a solid save from goalkeeper Otto Fredrikson. It would prove to be the start of a stalemate between two outfits until two minutes into the second half of extra time when Nosa Igiebor bagged the game breaker.

It was another tough lesson for young Nordtveit who returns to action tomorrow evening in the League.

Pedro Botelho – Salamanca 1-1 Las Palmas

In a week which saw the Spanish Segunda dogged by allegations of match fixing, the return to League action provided a welcome distraction for the Liga Adelante organisers.

Pedro Botelho is a man who has experienced similar turmoil this term – and on the evidence of today – he’s still paying for it. The Brazilian was looking to build on his 27 appearances this term but missed out against Las Palmas this evening.

After a tidy opening period Palmas struck first through Marcos Marquez. It looked liked being the winner as Salamanca tried in vein to force and equaliser. But with just stoppage time remaining, 18-year-old Nigerian striker Kabiru Akinsola slammed home a classy goal to rescue a point.

stop pressuring js, im sure he has bigger fish to fry. regarding the information on nordveit, it seems that he’s been learning a few tough lessons recently but if he is to make it at arsenal, he needs to be teaching the opponents lessons as that league is not so challenging.

It looks like some of these young players might work out for Arsenal. What about the big news at Chelsea. They got the man they wanted to manage the club. Lets see what happens and if this translates into hardware. We will see. No EPL to watch on TV. What shock to my system. Thanks for reading Bobby Gee..

    JS or Others,

I just saw and I already knew we had a partnership with the MLS Colorado Rapids why doesn’t AFC send a couple players to develop w/ the Rapids? Also with a american owner AFC club should least get one American in there ranks? JS thanks for the great reporting. Peace

The reason we have no American players, is that there aren’t any good enough.
And we wouldn’t send them to such a weak league when we can send them to the Championship or another European League.
I’m glad America is embracing football, but in all honesty it is no-where near European or English standards.

do you think a rb spot can be a future permanent postion for nordveit?
as we dont have any real rb prospects and, on the other hand, cb is quite crowded by our young talents(djourou, song, bartley, ayiling, miquel, that new swiss fella)

I don’t think Nordveit would work as well in RB for us as he is not quick enough for our attacking style where the full backs have to be running up and down all night. I’m guessing Lillestrom play a little differently and he is probably not overlapping that much, more putting in the long balls with his great passing ability.
And chaos. I think Nordveit is considered a much bigger talent than Bartley, Ayling and Miguel. In few years he will hopefully be challenging Song and Djourou.

Gavin Hoyte played the full game for England U19 tonight in their 2-1 win against scotland. England now qualify for the Finals.

Nice reports on Nordtveit. To correct some errors, Nosa is a teammate of Nordtveit, so how he can block a shot from him I don’t know. :) Lillestrøm, and Nordtveit won the match in overtime, after a goal from the mentioned Nosa..
