Pedro Botelho’s topsy-turvy loan spell with UD Salamanca has come to an end after Arsenal offical Richard Law decided to terminate the Brazilian’s loan spell two weeks early. But while his loan period may be over, the row which has dogged his stay in Spain continues.
The 19-year-old was suspended from first-team training after refusing to take part in extra training despite being given the day before off. Other trouble such as skipping training to go and watch a Champions League game plus calling a referee a cheat on television have painted Pedro in a bad light – something he accepts.
“I’ve always been honest and tried to tell the truth, but I also recognize that the fines do not look good on me”
Botelho had a frustrating first season but he made 27 appearances this term and has been largely impressive. However, the relationship with manager David Armaral and his assistant Fran Albert has broken down considerably in recent weeks. That said, the 19-year-old believes the spell has been productive.
“I have learned many things with Salamanca, but I recognize that the end of this year has been awful.”
“Since the night in Agatha, where Fran Albert accused me of breaking his partner’s car, things have taken a radical turn around. He threatened me with the bill amounting to €508 euros and told me that I had to pay. If i refused and said that I had not done anything he told me he was going to be much harder on me and he would make me run up the walls”
Botelho has confirmed he will now be returning to Brazil to see his family before joining the Arsenal squad for pre-season. But before leaving, he said his goodbyes to his team-mates but was advised to keep well out of the way of Armaral and his assistant.
“I said goodbye to all of my companions and team-mates along with the President of Salamanca. Of the other two (Armaral and Albert) I did not say goodbye. Richard Law told me not to tell them anything and that they have not behaved well”
Another loan spell with newly promoted Xerez now looks likely as the starlet looks to rebuild his reputation before returning to England in a years time.

Link for quotes?
So is this kid a troublemaker or has he been unfairly treated by the coaches?
Does he have a future at The Arsenal?
It seems that he made some mistakes but the coaching staff decided to punish him rather than help him.
And Pedro was speaking on the Spanish football programme Rock & Gol.
Another loan spell?
Yep – he hasn’t quite earned a work permit yet. He needs to spend another 6 months or so.
do u think he will come back to arsenal to be a key figure for us jay??
I guess this salamanca link up is a means to an end…, but it has been problematic this year with Pedro and Nordveit. I wonder if there will be a review of the deal after these accusations about the coaches?
Why don’t you put links in your articles that point to the actual source?
Any chance of playing a pre-season game for us? or will he spend preseason at his new club?
Paddy I do link but I don’t feel that I need to as I personally translated all the quotes with my Spanish friend. However, if you do want the link then here you go, but in future don’t tell me what to do.

Yeah, show ’em who’s boss, Jamie.
If this kid comes back at age 20 to Arsenal, he better hope to high hell he’s remotely good enough by then. Otherwise, it is very unlikely you’ll ever see him play in the red and white.
but would wenger go through all of this sending him on loan for 3 years if he was just going to sell him? I doubt it
What did he do to whose car?!
Regarding the Salamanca deal, isn’t it the case of our club having to trust (rather than impose) that the partner club’s board will pick good managers more often than not, and preferably ones that can handle the special circumstances surrounding massively precocious youngsters from a variety of backgrounds. If this doesn’t happen I am not sure what influence Arsenal can have, ethically, legally or otherwise. Threaten to pull out, but I imagine that a lot of time and effort went into this and they chose Salamanca for good reasons, and that the Botelho Case isn’t going to force any rash reaction on the part of the Bank of England club.
Is he a simular type of player to Traore?
Maybe Wenger may Give Traore to break into the first team, if he doesnt then his squad place could go to this Pedro.
Does anyone else think this sounds like what could happen?

Think it’s common decency to link to the source of the story. And don’t spout some crap about not telling you what to do. Aren’t the comments section open for people to ask and say stuff?
Yes, the comments are open for commentary and discussion, but not to direct someone on how to run his own blog. Piss off if you are offended about the lack of links.
It’s hard to adjust. The style of futebol played in Brasil and England is different. Brasilians are by and large very good futebol players. Thanks for reading Bobby Gee

Pedro should go out on loan to Xerez… as they’ll be playin in the La Liga next yr and also the fact that we’ll have Clichy, Gibbs & Traore contesting for the left back spot…even from Gibbs & traore should go for a loan move cos 1 of them will rot in the first team cos CLichy is defo our first choice left back…Hey J any updates on Wellington/Castaignos/Kamghain ?
Although you translated the article, it is ethical to link to the original source. How do we know you didn’t just make those quotes up?
If you care so much about blog ethics – write your own. Jeez, i know its off-season but are you really so bored that you come on to pick on Jamie – who does a great job btw.
I have to agree with pd and paddy in terms of putting up links with the source of your quotes; but your reaction to the asking of the links was a bit over the top
J I love your site and your work, but I have to agree that Paddy only asked you a question, it wasn’t exactly a demand.
Anyways, keep up the good work.
To anyone who wonders if J makes stuff up, then go do your own research, find your own sources, and write your own blog.
Surely J has built up enough credit by now for people not to doubt the credibility of his articles?
On Arsenal Mania, there’s a more in-depth translation of what Botelho has been saying. Whats this business about making him run and run and run?
can i ask the guys who are questioning J about his sources, do you ring up your national newspaper and ask who and where they get there information from? dint think so, great work J keep it up mate
