Nacer Barazite and the newly departed Samir Carruthers blazed the trial of Arsenal starlets who are of Moroccan descent, and Young Guns would like to introduce the latest in the series – versatile midfielder Samir Bihmoutine.
Yet unlike the aforementioned duo, Bihmoutine fully intents to honour his heritage by opting to play for Morocco in the future despite being born elsewhere. The Barkingside based player has already attracted attention from fans of the North African country who believe the prospect could be a key player in the future.
The left footed left winger – who can also play left back or up front – has slowly broken onto the scene this season with the show piece coming during this summers Atalanta Cup campaign. He led the charge in what proved to be an unsuccessful and rather disappointing tournament. Samir also chipped in with a goal – something which Steve Gatting’s boys struggled for.
Strikes against Portsmouth and Tottenham for the Under 16’s cemented Bihmountine’s position as one to watch. But goal scoring is just a surprise bonus for the youngster. Known more for his aggressive and powerful approach to defending and tackling, it’s not yet clear when his long term position will be but the left back slot would probably suit Samir best.
Next term should see Samir turning out for Steve Bould’s Under 18’s but with competition in the form of newly signed scholar George Brislen-Hall, the battle to be the Gunners’ number 3 will certainly be interesting.

j, is there any videos of recent u16s games on youtube
J, great article. When will this be integrated into ‘Player Profiles’ ?
This boy actually comes to my school and is in Year 10.
He’s actually quite skilful too.
I wanna see wingers come through maybe we do lack full backs but we will see. JS what do u think of cedric evina will he make it here?
Under 16 games are not filmed so there is no highlights – sorry mate.
Well Samir is not yet a scholar but I’ll see how he does over pre-season before deciding whether to put him in with the Player Profiles for this year.
If I’m honest John – I don’t think Cedric will make it here. He’s a good player going forward but defending he is awful at.
iee an igbo from eatern nigeria here. he’s chuks aneke. how good is he?
Without watching the guy he sounds like a potential central midfielder. Naturally full backs can make the transfer to centre midfield and vice versa.
Regarding Cuhks Aneke; he looks very good.
Don’t think he’ll end up in the middle mate, but good shout. He really could play anywhere, but i think he’d be most suited to left back. However, left midfield is where i see him ending up – simply because of numbers and the fact he gets plently of goals.
I am a Dutch native from Moroccan descent and I am very pleased to hear about this kid. I hope Arsenal can be what PSV has been for the Netherlands. They have clearly identified Morrocan players as huge prospect. At the moment they have 1 or more player of Morrocan origin in each one of their youth level.
I have high hopes for Nacer and I was sad to hear about Carruthers leaving. I hope this kid is the real deal too.
Morrocan players have generally one thing in common and that is that they lack the mental strength. I think Arsenal can work on that.
Nice article!
thought his first name was versatile for a minute there!
speaking of nacer barazite, is there any news or interest in him for another loan spell?
That is a plues if he can defend as well as score. We will see Thnaks for reaidng my blog Bobby Gee http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/

QPR fan in peace here
Just a quick shout to say great website, I love reading about Arsenal prospects as , your club always strikes me as the blueprint of how to run a club, from the academy to the transfer policy and obviously the style of football too. Now if you could please repay my kind words with first refusals on your rejection I wold be more than pleased, starting with Barazite and Boethelo, who according to a friend in Spain, could turn out to be better than Gibbs and Traore
