PSG Reject Arsenal's Kamghain Offer

Liam Brady’s search for a new Youth striker will continue after French outfit Paris Saint-Germain rejected Arsenal’s bid for their free scoring marksman Jimmy Kamghain.

The Gunners interest in The French Under 17 International was first revealed by Young Guns last August, but Gilles Grimandi has since stepped up his scouting of Kamghain who has developed into one of the brightest prospects on the continent. His debut season for PSG’s Under 16’s saw the Parisian’s lift the League title convincingly as the starlet averaged almost a goal a game.

Subsequently, Arsenal have lodged a bid for the starlet but it was quickly rejected. Jimmy is known to be open for a switch to England but Chairman Sébastien Bazin has made it clear he is not interested in selling the youngster. Blessed with fantastic technique, electric pace and slick finishing, a host of scouts were present as Kamghain impressed during the recent UEFA Under 17 European Championships.

Arsène Wenger and Grimandi have close connections with PSG – with Wenger often offering advice on the development of their Academy. Former Arsenal midfielder Gilles was linked with the Chief scout role during the summer, but remained in his current role, helping secure Francis Coquelin’s signature.

It’s not yet known whether a follow up bid would be made but it seems clear cut that Kamghain won’t be leaving Paris anytime soon. However, Brady’s search for a new striker is set to continue with the likes of Brazilian Wellington and Dutchman Luc Castaignos being mentioned as possible targets.

The infamous Wellington. Whey have we not signed him yet after 4 goals? He was biblical. What is his story?

Some reports have said we’ve signed him but we’ve heard nothing. This news would suggest that he’s not been signed – like we’re led to believe and that Brady is still on the look out for another striker.

If we get any update, we’ll let you know :)

Course… but the usually excellent Arseblog said we had signed him. It’s always difficult. Is there any truth in the rumours we have already signed Eden Hazard? I would think not.

BTW J, when are you making the new player profiles?

Well far be it me to ‘gun down’ Arseblog, but when a signing is made we usually hear about it and we’ve heard nothing.

I’ve been onto a good journalist friend from Brazil and hopefully he’ll be able to clear it up.

Nope – Hazard won’t be leaving on the cheap and Arsenal have more important players to buy for the money.

New profiles will be coming in about a month or so when its confirmed which players will be released. I’m planning to do lots of them this year.

Sunu was considering going back to France but he’s had a brilliant season and with the Youth sides winning both League and Cup – I’m sure he’ll stay.

The Under 18’s could do with another striker i guess.

J, how’s this Kamghain lad anyway? By comparison, how does he, Wellington and Castaignos sum up? Who’s the better forward?

I prefer Brazilian Wellington and Dutchman Luc Castaignos bcuz Wellington is versaitile whereas Luc is blessed height-wise along with his intelligent movement, pace, 1st touch and finishing.

@ N0.9, Sunu and freeman might eventually be used as a wide man in the 1st level, meaning Afobe and Murphy are the 2 central strikers. Even though still we must wait to see Afobe’s performance @ reserves level while Murphy is unfortunately injury prone.

Also buying @ youth is an ongoing scenario plus with some players [Blackwood, Dunne, Agogo, Steer, Rodgers, Rasmussen, Samir.C, Van Der Berg, Gilbert] leaving, replenishing work must be done even though some schoolboys will also be moved up

I also prefer the brazilian Wellington because he is the most variable player of these three players and we have with Afobe and Freeman just two impressing strikers for the U18.

Can anyone say why Kamghain doesn’t often play for the U17 of France in the europe-tournament in Germandy?
I was very surprised about that.

I look played this three players! The good solution is between Wellington and Castaignos! The Dutch has really a good potential, but the Brazilian has an incredible talent! I hope really Arsenal will chose Wellington!

What Arsenal need is a new coach. Keep Wenger in the system, of course, don’t ever let him go. But I think his time as a head coach had passed. Unpopular to say, i know. Maybe that’s just me.

I wouldn’t be so sure we haven’t signing Wellington, the Vela signing wasn’t confirmed until at least 6 months after his trail, similar story with Traore.

Find another coach who could keep arsenal in a champions league place with the resources he has and I’ll give you my house. It’s easy to revere coaches who win year on year who have 10’s of millions available – I’d like to see the likes of Mourinhio et al maintain a top 4 position with what little funds Wenger has. That degree in economics has served him well.
