PSG To Swoop For Departing Midfielder Bischoff

Amaury Bischoff is all but certain to be released when his contract expires at the end of the month, but while Arsenal appear not to be interested in the Portuguese Under 21 International, French outfit Paris Saint-Germain are according to Aujourd’hui Sport.

The news agency reports that the 22-year-old – who spent the whole campaign in the Reserve team – has swayed from his original idea of a switch to Portugal after speaking with PSG legend Pauleta. Yet Bischoff himself claims they did not speak about a possible transfer to his home land.

”I said when I was called up by the Portuguese (National team) that I spoke with Pauleta – but that’s all.”

Amaury turned out 9 times for Neil Banfield’s second string  last year yet failed to make any significant impact despite scoring a wonder goal against Fulham. His injury problems have been well documented but Arsenal’s coaching staff have helped nurse him back to full fitness following a double groin operation, and the former Werder Bremen play-maker has not had any problems since.

He turned out on four occasions for the first team but all were as a substitute. Two run outs came in the Carling Cup while there was one  appearance each in both the F.A Cup and Premier League. But it’s been for Portugal where Bischoff has impressed – he marked his debut for the Under 21’s with the opening goal of his sides 3-1 win over Switzerland. His agent Pascal Granier then confirmed that Sporting Lisbon, Benfica and Porto had been contact on the back of his performance.

Whilst a move back to Portugal appeared to be a formality, PSG now seem like the most likely destination. Arsène Wenger is known to ‘look out’ for his departing players, and as we mentioned yesterday – he does have close links with the Paris based club. New manager Antoine Kombouaré would be able to offer the ex Strasbourg trainee more playing time – plus a deal may also prove to be a bargaining chip in the hunt for striker Jimmy Kamghain.

It promises to be an eventful few weeks for Amaury Bischoff.

So he didn’t make it. Who would have thought… how much money did he ‘steal’ from us during this 1 year of rehabilitation and sitting on the stands (I wish I could watch every home game from that seat)…

    good
he’s bollocks anyway. He’s off to play in an All Star reject team featuring Malz, Diawara, Quincy, Demel, Danilevicius, Yaya Toure and Stepanov

One of the biggest pile of shite Arsene has ever bought. The player stank the place out. What the hell was Arsen thinking when he brought the useless plank to the Emirates?

Progman07/dave – you’re not allowed to criticise Wenger or anything to do with the Youths or Reserves on this blog – supportive comments only. I found that out last week when daring to question the wisdom of forking out millions of pounds on a 16yr old keeper at a time when the manager is reportedly short of cash…the locals (not J., mind you) savaged me for that one!

You’d be better off saying “Bischoff was an integral part of Banfield’s reserve team and fully justified the money he was paid during that period. Had he become a world beater then Wenger should be applauded. In fact, Wenger should be applauded even if it hasn’t worked out for taking a chance on the young man in the first place.”

He played alright, me thinks. He was pretty good against Pompey in the first team, and probably would be a good player if not for the injury. I do not mind what Wenger did, and would´nt even mind us keeping him, especially as he is a Reserve player yet will soon be a full international… which is funny.

this bischoff deal will help us build bridges with PSG, hopefully in the Salamanca mode, whereby we can purchase young players and let them develop their game in their home country. We should do this in France & Holland. This way they get more minutes whereas like Ramsey the player has to sit on the bench all season.

The signing brought next to no opportunity cost and although I agree he failed to light up Gooners minds, he is a capable player. Not a waste of Arsene’s time and importantly the player, who has gone through ijury nightmares.

If you think of the youth and reserve teams as a big pool of talent from which only 1 or 2 players per year can emerge, then having a decent older guy like Bischoff in the mix for a year could prove quite valuable in the future. We got him for nothing, I doubt he was on much money at all, and he certainly raised the overall standard amongst the reserve team during the year he was with us. Easy come, easy go.

He’s probably not good enough to be a regular for Arsenal, but would do well in Ligue 1.

you say bischoff is a pile of shit but he is set to sign for a massive club and looks to have a bright future for portugal but you also rave about players who will never reach that standard!

May be Wenger just tries to buy himself some goodwill at PSG, now that he knows that Bischoff won´t become an Arsenal-player. So in exchange we can get PSG´s best talent… :D

He weren’t that bad, was he? I only saw him in the games he had with the first team, so have no idea what his performances in the reserves were like.. He did look competent though, and I thought looked less of a plank than Randall does haha

eddie: he was shit but taking a risk on free promising players with low wages is never a bad thing imo. Next up, offering Mickey Owen a can of fanta and some biscuits everytime he plays for the first team.

I don’t mind Wenger taking a chance on him. By now, having just missed out on so many great players when they were younger, Arsene must know it’s right to go for a player if he has a good feeling about him. He got it wrong this time, but I’d rather he made a few mistakes along the path of finding the players he has done than just cower out of a deal for financial reasons and loose out on some realy talent. I do wonder why we couldn’t get over for a trial though, with Werder willling to let him go on a free anyway.

I don’t know him. England kicked butt 6-0. Argentina lost 2-0 to Ecuador. Brasil is winning 2-1 over Paraguay. Brasil gave up an early goal. Thanks for reading Bobby Gee. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/

maybe the midfield area he plays is congested, especially with youth and inexperienced players when whats needed are the yaya toures etc that wenger sounds like he is searching for. but if he is a portugal international thats shown some something when given the chance to play after a long injury spell, is not worth signing him, maybe sending off on loan where he can be a first team regular then his worth can be seen and is flogged for something, coz all Arsenal did seems to have treated him and paid him for it
