Salamanca Kick Out Arsenal Loanee Botelho

Pedro Botelho has played his last game for UD Salamanca after a third and final fall out with manager David Armaral saw the Spanish outfit dump the Brazilian in the B team until his loan spell finishes later this month.

Having already been in trouble for skipping training to go and watch Real Madrid V Juventus in the Champions League with his friends, the 19-year-old was fined a second time for calling a referee ‘a cheat’ on Spanish television. He initially was forced to train with the B team after refusing to pay the fine but eventually paid after a meeting with Armaral.

It was speculated that Pedro was told that he no more chances left, yet last week – there was more trouble. With the season coming to an end and Salamanca not really having anything left to play for, Armaral gave his players Tuesday off from all forms of training and told them to rest ahead of the final two fixtures of the campaign.

On Wednesday the players returned and were allowed to use the club’s Estadio El Helmántico stadium to train instead of their usual training ground situated on the side of the 17,341 seater arena. After the session finished Armaral took Botelho away from the group and suggested he spent an extra hour working on his physical strength in the gym. Pedro refused and complained that he was tired despite having a day off previously. An argument and several harsh words were exchanged before the Brazilian left.

A meeting on Thursday between the manager, captain Raúl Gañán and legendary Union winger Quique Martín saw Botelho suspended from all first team training until his loan spell expires. He will now be forced to train with CD Salmantino – the club’s Reserve side.

Pedro is expected back at Arsenal in early July to begin pre-season training before heading back to Spain for a third and final season. After that he will have earned the criteria for a work permit – finally allowing him to make his debut for the Gunners. Salamanca have made it clear they do not want to keep the prospect La Liga new boys Xerez are the front runners to snap up the youngster for the 09-10 campaign.

I think Pedro needs to stay in England wenger will sort his attitude out. Spain theres a great lifestyle there but when you live in england its more tough. Language and cultural barriers will make him mentally stronger

He won’t last 5 minutes under Wenger with an attitude like that!

He probably thinks hes too big for the club which is why when he plays for arsenal he will not be behaving like this

I was just going to say that, HK.

I heard Feyenoord were happy to let RVP go because of his attitude, and he’s come a long way since then. However, pity that he can’t stay in England because of work permit issues.

Talks with Luc Castaignos will start in July according to dutch reports. It is said that allmost all of Europe’s biggest teams are interested in him including rivals Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Luc’s agent stated once again that he thinks Luc is too young to move abroad and he prefers a loanback deal so Luc can develop in a familiar environment.

It’s unlikely that Arsenal would choose for that option because that means they’re giving his development out of hands.

I am not sure about what could be the better option, I think he is a future superstar and if he would get first team guarantees he might be better of at Feyenoord. If not than he should definetly develop close to our first team. I can see him being part of straight away.

    Cheers

p.s. I don’t consider Pedro as an option anymore, he will not make it.

In my opinion LUc castignos is a better player than sunu. Giles sunu a very solid player not very spectacular and misses quite alot. I do rate sunu but this castingos kid is special

Personally I don’t see us getting Castignos because of the loan thing.

He’s a jerk. Didn’t exactly change the world at Salamanca, his attitude stinks. We have Clichy, Gibbs, even Traore for the full-back position. Release this guy.

Well.. I am Dutch like Moushin over here and I do know we will get him, he wants to go badly and it seems Arsenal are for once open to the idea of him staying for a year… If that is what it takes to get your hands on this size talent… So be it.

Botelho should play for Xerez, La Liga is a good competition, maybe he can cripple CR7… His attitude will have to change but he has talent in spades.

Please dont judge this kid for his shortcommings. Its very common that talents fail to intergrate especially in hostile environment. Since the kid appear to be talented maybe some jealousy mates cannot be ruled out. I also recall that RVP was not the god’s child. Feyenoord wanted him out ASAP.

That kid will come good in Wenger and Bould’s hands.

My problem is that even if his attitude does improve somewhat, the moment he hits anything close to stardom, he’ll demand a move to Real Madrid.

brighton are in league 1, and yer they would both play quite regularly. They have a lot of old players in their side, so bartley and murphy would be helpful additions.

Natural talent is only half the criteria required to play @ Arsenal.Botelho’s attitude is all wrong. How many “last chances” does the kid expect? I don’t think he’s worth wasting any more time on. I hope he is released sooner rather than later.

I still like pedro. He has shown star class when he wants to show up. If he gets a chance like Vela did two years ago, to shine on the stage of La Liga, he might make the kind of impact over a full season that one would expect.

I still would like to see him, Traore & Gibbs really fight tooth & nail to replace Gael Clichy. I love the workrate of Gael, but I could see him leaving in 2-3 years, which would give these 3 talented youngsters the time to really fight for that deputy spot. But first, he needs another season to get that bloody work permit!

It’s funny that Gibbs, Pedro and Traore are all born within 79 days of each other.

The point about RvP issues when he came here is a valid one but really how many players do manage to come good in the same way? Adebayor still seems to have a very cocky attitude and most players with the same stinky attitude like Pedro end up like Bentley or Pennant.
