Arsenal Set To Welcome Brazilian Trialists

Arsenal have booked out four hotel rooms for a one month period with Arsène Wenger believed to be welcoming a selection of Brazilian’s to the club for trials, Young Guns has learnt.

The hotel in question is the same one used famously by Andrey Arshavin as he nervously waited to complete his move to Arsenal in January. The nationalities and ages of the players are unknown yet it’s thought one room is for returning wing-back Pedro Botelho, and that the other three are also from Brazil and are all youngsters.

They would join, or may even include, Mirassol centre back Luis Gustavo Conte and Fluminense winger Wellington in spending time at London Colney. A second look at the pair wouldn’t be the most bizarre thing, but it would be a surprise as they already impressed when they spent 7 days with the club around Christmas time.

The news is encouraging as Manchester United have already shown the benefits of investing and taking a firm interest in the Brazilian market, and Wenger has already reaped the rewards of talent from South America with Edu, Gilberto, Denilson and the aforementioned Pedro Botelho all making the switch in recent years.

The latter has just returned from a loan spell with Salamanca and it appears Wenger may been looking for a player to send to the Spanish Segunda outfit for next season. There will be more to follow on this one once we get it.

I like the look of Wellington we do need dribblers in the youth team players who dribble past players.

J, whatever happened to the young Argentinian goalkeeper we had on trial? Great reporting, as always.

Who do you think will be the players going out on loan?

Don’t forget Silvinho, he was the first of the Brazilians to arrive at Arsenal. Also worth noting that ex-Arsenal youngster Juan is a key player for Flamengo now. Arsenal have a pretty good record of finding Brazilian talent, though of course there are many talented young players in Brazil so finding a few isn’t so hard I guess!

J.Sanderson: Just a quick request here. Could you remove the text color from the RSS-feed? As it is right now it’s white on white in Google Reader, so I’m not able to see anything other than the pictures and the headline

SJ – it’s not known, but it’s only a thought that it’s Botelho. It’s not confirmed.

    Dnasty – I’ll try mate.

Please J, tell me one of them is Felipe Melo, PLEASEEEEE. And try and get any information on Matuidi to us. Why should we sign him with such young, superb CM talents.

What is the story with Botelho? I seem to recall reading somewhere that he has bad attitude and maybe released? Or am I confusing him with someone else?

g4eva: Melo is a Juve player now.

smoletar: He won’t get released, he will be sold – if he does go. He did have problems with the coaches at Salamanca and it’s likely he’ll be given a different loan option next season (much like Vela at Osasuna) which we can have a fair assessment of whether he has learnt from his mistakes before he comes to us.

Melo is not a juve player i still think arsenal will sign him up. Arsenal take ages to buy players. Look at nasri, arshavin, vermaelen
