Arsenal Sign Sead Hajrovic From Grasshoppers

Arsenal have wrapped up the signing of 16-year-old defender Sead Hajrovic from Swiss outfit Grasshopper-Club Zürich for a fee of around €300,000.

The Bosnian-born centre back has been training with his new team-mates since the start of the summer and was recently spotted taking part in the first-team training sessions. In a move believed to have been engineered by the Gunners’ first-team coach Boro Primorac, the Switzerland Under 17 international comes with a huge reputation.

Hajrovic was scouted playing for Grasshopper’s Under 18’s and has previously been courted by Manchester United and Everton. Interestingly, Sead has openly admitted his desire to turn out for his native Bosnia and Herzegovina but has never been contacted by anybody from that federation.

A tough, aggressive and combative defender, Hajrovic will go straight into Steve Bould’s Under 18’s ahead of the 2009-2010 campaign. His brother, 17-year-old Izet Hajrovic is also considered an exciting talent and is currently plying his trade with Grasshopper-Club Zürich II.

More to follow.

He’s from Bosnian origin, but he’s also got Swiss nationality, having grown up in Zurich.

Apologies, the article was a very quick one, hence the ‘more to follow’.

I’m still gathering information on this kid. Apparently he’s played at centre back before, but he can play elsewhere. I’ll update when I’ve got more!

Seriously? Picking the pepper out mate. The shares some interesting information and you’re busting his chops about the transfer figure. Go read some of those great Ade-couldn’t he have left by now- yor clips. This is god stuff just for the sake of showing that it’s a business with caretakers for the long run. Maybe you need to go join the Man city gravy train because clearly this club can offer you no hope for the future.

Hopefully the signitures of Europe’s best and brightest u20s never stops. You also have to remember that by the time Djourou (w/ Vermaelan), one of the first players signed as a promising kid, starts to hit his peak years will this guy be sniffing around the first team. The promise to deliver will come soon enough, think: if our midfield is good enough now to make CL/FA semi finals and go on 21 match unbeaten runs at 22 and under – how can they not improve on that as they get older, gain experience and hit their peak? It’s going to be a hell of a lot harder to make that transition into the next Arsenal team: Deni stepped up because Bert was too old (Theo because Ljungberg too crocked etc.) – in 5 years time when these kids look to do the same, the current first team will be hitting their peak instead of starting their decline.

WHO COMPLAINS? That fat Russian twat? No-one else is. We built a stadium and training facilities instead, we live with our choice. ALSO: THIS DOES NOT EAT UP THE FIRST TEAM BUDGET. All top 4 teams allocate funds for investing in youth, just because we are the only team that uses our youngsters (bar Macheda and Rafael) instead of stopping Europe developing their most exciting means we are the noticable team for everyone to focus on when it comes to the ins and outs of youth development. And quite frankly, I like the organic process of teaching youngsters to fit into our system. These kids turn out to be as good as Cesc Fabregas and Carlos Vela and Gael Clichy.

In actual fact Sead signed with us a while ago which is why he appears in the academy squad photo that took place on July 10th. This article is obviously in response to seeing hin appear in Arsenal’s magazine recently.

I wish people would stop slating Senderos. He never looked comfortable rotating in and out of the team with Toure, Campbell and then Gallas ahead of him, but let’s not forget when he did get a run of games he proved he can be a great defender. Don’t forget our run to the CL final in 2006, when him and Kolo started almost every game in the run-up to the final and we broke the record for consecutive CL clean sheets. He just had confidence issues, and with the fans getting on his back, he was given very little chance to correct them. Bendtner is in the same situation at the moment – I hope the fans will show him more support.

Senderos has had a mental nightmare hes just needs a new challenge i am sure he will be a great centre half alter on his career. Defenders take time to adapt. Djorou is good but he keeps getting niggling injuries. Hopefully vermaelen will add steel and leadership skills. He looks a future arsenal future captin to me
