Barazite Prefers Arsenal Stay Over Loan Move

Flying Dutchman Nacer Barazite could feel a bit aggrieved he wasn’t selected for Arsenal’s Austrian training camp after netting for the third year in a row against Barnet, yet the 19-year-old has set his sights on making Arsène Wenger’s XI in the coming months.

After featuring on 36 occasions for Derby County last season, the leggy front-man has returned with two fantastic performances. First at Barnet on Saturday, and then Monday nights 3-2 win over Lincoln City. Speaking shortly after the full time whistle, Nacer admits his delight at returning to the club and took the time to identify what he’s learnt.

“I’m delighted to be back and play in the Arsenal shirt again.”

“I’m happy with my performance against Barnet, and my goal. I like to play against Barnet and score. I think I’ve changed physically, and mentally. I think I’m a lot stronger now. But I think I can get better.”

At Lincoln Barazite wore the number 10 shirt, the same number his idol Dennis Bergkamp donned during his legendary spell with Arsenal. Naturally, comparisons have been made between the two Dutch forwards and they returned on Monday and the former Nijmegen player confirmed his desire to play in Dennis’ former role.

“I’ve always said I don’t mind where I play, but if I had to chose a position I’d say in the number 10.”

Young Guns’ Sunday article regarding the future of Nacer sparked mass debate, with many suggesting he could go on loan again while some believed he was ready for the first-team. When asked, ‘Naz’ also seemed to be in the dark over his future but revealed his preference.

“You never know. Hopefully it (the future) will bring positive things, and hopefully I can play in the first team at Arsenal. I like to play for Arsenal, I want to play for Arsenal.

“My target is to make my debut for the first team, in the Premier League.”

It’s expected that Arsène Wenger will sit down with Barazite following the completion of the Austrian tour to thrash out an arrangement.

Arsene should swallow his stubborn pride and ask Naz to join the training camp at Austria. Cant we all see that he is an exceptional talent ?

I hope we don’t have another situation like we did with Merida where he ends up spending the whole season in the reserves.

I think Nasri’s injury could do him a favour, I would like to see him in the first team.

he’s only 19, and we have a lot of forwards right now…loan him out to a team like Birmingham, an EPL team to get experience, at least until January, then reassess the situation re: injuries, etc…remember we have Simpson as well ready to play up top with Bendtner, van Persie, Vela, Walcott, Arshavin, Rosicky, Eduardo, etc…

I personally think that Nacer Barazite like Mark Randell need first team football because neather of them will get any first team football at Arsenal this season exept mabey in the Carling Cup or FA Cup, so another season long loan in Coca Cola Championship will do them the world of good like it has done to Henri Lansbury IMO.

Loan him out again, pointless keeping him just so he can play in the beer cup 3 or 4 months into the season.Did nothing of note at Derby to even warrant a place on the bench for us.With the extra yard of pace and power gained with age loan him out to another championship team to see what he can do this time.Would like to see about 8 young players loaned out to see what they’re made of.

One of Bartley or Ayling should be loaned out while the other one can be our main cb for the reserves.Shezney could do well in league 1.Merdia,Randall and Gibbs need games and should go on loan.Traore taking Gibbs’s place in the first team squad.
Would like to see Landsbury,JET and Coquelin play at a higher level, short term loans for Landsbury and Coquelin as we’ll need them in the cups.Loan out sell at least 2 from Watt,Murphy,Sunu and Simpson,Simpson will surely be sold by the start of the season.

Loan him to a chapionship team, The Daddy !? Well i don’t see that a good idea. Nacer at this moment deserves a chance to play under the premierleage pressure. I guess it’s either to loan him for an EPL team or keep him with team.

I would really like to see Simpson at least get a chance – he could have left at the end of the 2007-8 season but he REALLY wants to make it at Arsenal and is prepared to just stay until he is forcibly removed. That sort of loyalty should be rewarded with some kind of chance!

I agree with The Daddy only…he is a great talent but not yet ready. He scored just 1 goal in the Championship so hardly ready for premier League!I say loan out him along with many such as Hoyte,Wilshere,Randall,Lansbury…a year playing regularly will do them great on d long run! Even Ramsey perhaps but starting to think he is ready for first XI after 7-1 performance!

Who would you rather call upon on the wing? Denilson, Diaby, Eboue or Barazite? It’s a no-brainer for me… Barazite is far more likely to make something happen than those 3 out wide.

Also, J, what’s your opinion on Barazite’s season? You think, realistically, he’ll get any playing time?

And also, what about an article on Merida, Simpson et al – those on the peripheries of the first team squad but not yet close?

J.S I remeber a interview with Steve Bould a few years ago where he was talking about a certain player who had been strggling for form and when bould asked him why, it was because two of his friends had been shot. Was just wondering if you knew who the player was?

We all will see if this kids have what it takes during the emirates cup. I would like too see more arranged matches for our youths against leauge one or championship opponents during preseason. I’m not sure if that is what Arsenal do but under close doors. Barazite is for sure a special talent but most of our youths is! Seems better than walcott at that age for me and he got the chance.

I’d love to see him play in the first team, but there are so many players competing for a spot in midfield I think it may be futile waiting. He’s got Cesc, Den, Song, Rambo infront of him in the middle, and Arsh, Tommy, Theo, Eboue, Samir (when fit) and Traore (if he stays) ahead of him for the wings. Arsene also may prefer to play Bendtner, Eduardo and Vela on the flanks.

Keep nacer here. We can use him as coverage for the first team on the left and I think he could be a mainstay of the Carling Cup squad this term. I want to see his class on the ball against defenders of the highest caliber, not plodding along in the Championship. Perhaps loan him off in January, depending on where we are in the C.C. but I wouldn’t be as keen to move him as I would be to move Traore, Randall, Merida & either Frimpong or JET. The last 3 guys I think could really gain from a spell at a high up the table Championship squad, much like we did with loaning 3 guys to Steve Bruce’s Birmingham a few years back.

There are two flights to Austria. The first took the first team players to the camp, the second will take some of the young players there. Barazite (and Coquelin, Watt, Simpson, etc.) will most likely join the senior players for pre-season.

Sometimes when I read comments on here and other Arsenal blogs I smile to myself and think thank God none of these guys are managing the club and never will. Some things that are mentioned are just so hard to believe. I seriously think they say these things cos they’re bored and wanna have a little laugh.

I’m with J on Nacer’s situation. As we all know, he is a fantastic talent but I have a fear he will continue to be overlooked. Sad really.

    New banner’s dope Mr Sanderson.

Why can’t Barazite make it inspite of so many players ahead of him. Isn’t competition good? Fellows don’t seem to remember Ashley Cole pushing Silvinho out of Arsenal. Or Eboue pushing Lauren out. And now Sagna keeping Eboue out of the first eleven. I’ve no doubt that had Bentley fought for his place he’d be in the first eleven and probably even the captain – his english afterall. If barazite is to be a real star he should be aiming to force himself into the first eleven. If not he should move on!

Fingers crossed, he’ll get a chance – particularly with Sami’s misfortune. Also agree with Brendon above : what’s happening with Merida? Wenger gave him several prem games on the bench last season “as a reward for loooking good in training”, but he only got 10mins action against WBA & the Arsenal rejects. I know he is away with the Spanish U19’s – does this mean he is unlikely to play any part in our pre-season?

Also, i know i keep asking, but what is happening with Kerrea Gilbert ?!?

I’d love Barazite to stay but i think we got too much competition at present. we’v got Rosicky & Traore for LM and Arshavin & Walcott for RM. also Nasri will be back by Nov i think. Striker wise we have – Eddy,Rvp,bendy,Vela looking v.difficult.i guess this is what Wenger is thinking – how does he fit in to this side? I believe he has the talent and if he does go on loan i hope its to a prem side like Wigan… It’d be interesting to see how he does over the season.I’d like Merida to get more game time this season – either at the club or on loan ONLY to a prem/championship side to see how he manages the intensity.

Fantasy time, I know but……Seeing the likes of Barazite, Traore Gibbs, Merida, Wilshire, developing nicely but finding their way blocked by more senior players does make you wish we could buy a lower-league club that is in financial difficulty and use it as our second string team, playing the Wenger way, but competing for real points and promotion. Even becoming financially self-sustaining, too. In reality, I think Barazite is too good to be sold. He is an Arsenal player all the way.
