Today the UEFA Under 19’s European Championship kicked off with young gunners Henri Lansbury, Gavin Hoyte, Rhys Murphy and Fran Merida all involved for their respective nations.
England kicked off today against Switzerland, with Henri and Gavin both starting and with Murphy on the bench.
The three lions started cautiously, heeding their coach, Brain Eastick’s, words about the importance of not losing their first game. Indeed, it took until the 35th minute for a clear chance from either team. England won a free-kick on the edge of the area, and left-back Mattlock, a senior member of the team, stepped up to curl an effort home. And that’s how it stayed for the remainder of the half, despite Switzerland coming close just after Mattlock’s effort.
In the Second period Lansbury’s quality began to show through more and more. He was given plenty of opportunities to try out his corner technique and it almost cost the Swiss when his in-swinger caused frantic confusion, but unfortunately there was no-one on hand to turn it in. As England pressed, he turned creator once again when he played Wellbeck through on goal, only for the United striker to be denied by a superb goal-line clearance. In the end, their lack of end product gave Switzerland the opportunity to get back in the game, Steele produced save after save in the dying minutes, but could do nothing to stop another free-kick, this time from Wütrich, and his thunderous effort leveled it. The game finished 1-1, with both Lansbury and Hoyte playing the full 90 minutes
England will have to regroup quickly for a now crucial game against the Ukraine on Friday, and maybe they’ll look to Rhys Murphy, who played no part in today’s draw, as a source of goals.
Later on tonight, Merida’s Spain play Turkey, but Fran is suspended for the fixture.
In other international news, Carlos Vela’s Mexico will play Costa Rica in the Semi-finals of the Gold Cup after they beat Haiti 4-0 in the quarters. Vela didn’t play in that game and hasn’t taken part since the opening 10 minutes of the tournament. However, despite rumours that he was injured for the rest of pre-season, he was pencilled in as fit enough to play in the encounter against Haiti.

J- How did gavin hoyte play?
Why is Wilshere playing for U19? Has he not been selected!? Good for Arsenal though :)
Sorry I meant Why isn’t Wilshere playing
The England goal scorer is called “Mattock”, not “Mattlock”. His full name is Joe Mattock.
Off:
Frank Nouble to WHU

Shame.
Salamanca’s 15-year-old defender Diego Caballo is being tracked by Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.
This was on the daily mail’s n sky sports website.J, If hes that good surely we would get 1st choice.
J, are we after Salamanca’s 15-year-old defender Diego Caballo who is being tracked by Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona. Surely we can beat them.
We’ll get first choice if we make a bid, but as far as I know we’re not interested. We’ve got a whole wealth of young defenders.
U got any info on Sead hjjovric? How tall is he?
Also JS did u watch the game today. Aaron ramsey looks very mobile and powerful now. He can now play in the premiership i feel. Hes got alot faster and hes tracking back alot as well. Wasnt impressed with wilshere i think hes better in CM than on the wings to be honest
JS any news on the chamakh deal? I hear arsenal want to buy chamakh but bordeauz want the deal to finish quickly. but wenger said he will buy after the training camp just in case of other injuries. I can see him playin on the wings chamakh as well as up front
Hajrovic has a Profile in our Player Profile section –

So was he scouted when Martin Angha was signed as well didnt they both play for the same clubs?
Nope.
Grasshoppers Zurich, and FC Zurich are different clubs.
I am from Molde the city of the club that recently sold Mame Biram Diouf to Man Utd. Newspapers claimed arsenal was bidding for him, this was denied by his agent Jim Solbakken who is also the agent of McDermott and Nordveit, in the linked article for those who speak norwegian. Arsenal have been present at the stadium in the past according to the local newspaper, in a past article. So all in all just rubbish from british tabloids again it seems like

I saw the last 15mins of the match last night, didn’t recognise Ramsey.. The young fella’s starting to look the part, but still needs regular football at a decent level.. Jack didn’t seem to be playing badly, he’s got the skills and the brain, just a bit more physical development and he’ll be Un-REAL!
I saw the whole match and Jack had a decent game actually. Nikki B and Ramsey were the two most impressive attacking players IMO though.
I reckon Vermaelen could be a decent buy. Yeah he aint the biggest but he seems to defend the same way many of the past greats have defended throughout their careers, with brains.
This will be great learning experience for the young guys. Bobby Gee Thanks

I feel Ramsey will explode this season. Nasri’s injury has pushed him up a notch, just below Diaby. However i’d rather Ramsey than Diaby at present.I think Ramsey is 3rd choice for CM,while Diaby is 2nd.shame really….
