Arsenal’s Under 16’s thrashed their Charlton Athletic counterparts on Saturday morning as Steve Gatting prepared for the new campaign by fielding an XI made up of regulars and trialists.
Gatting only has a week to make a decision on his side so will have to move quickly if he wants the prospects signed in time to make their debuts against Sheffield United. Charlton were expected to provide a huge challenge but the Gunners brushed aside the League One based outfit with ease.
Strikers Zak Ansah and Nigel Neita set Arsenal on their way before defender James Campbell thumped home number three. American Luis Gil then added number four before two other trialists completed a 5-0 demolition. Charlton held their own in the second half and goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cooke did well to keep a clean sheet after being peppered with shots.
Young Guns will keep you updated with any announcements on new signings.
Article By – J.Sanderson
I know some of the players are new to the club, but couldn’t we get some shorts to fit number 9!
James Campbell is he any good? What happened to arsenal under 15 captain the centre half forgot his name hes the white guy with black hair. His he still at the club or has he been realeased?
Is there a reason the other two trialists are not named especially considering a fifth goal had been scored?
J, you say two other trailists scored the remaining goal… First of all, that means either it was 6-0 or they combined to score the goal… Which one is it?
Also, you say two other trailists, and seeing as how you are (or, sorry to hint at, pretend to be) to the Arsenal youth setup and your inside info, can’t you give us any names? You never confirmed to us the names of the four people we booked hotelrooms for, and now again… Mate, we wanna know who we are talking about!
Also, to add to this: what is going down with the young Serbian winger, the so called ‘new Messi’, Betrovic or something like that, he trialed with us and was supposed to be on the verge of signing, what is going on there?
yeea i fink that the trialists should be named aswell :)
what happened to zezinho.
LOL you miss a couple days j and the questions pile up.
J how loong is JET gone to blackpool for?
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has joined blackpool on a 1 month loan deal
JET has flown away!!!!
JET has gone to blackpool for one month
Couldn’t be happier here in the states hearing a American is in the fold!!!!! Go Gunners!! J great job! Everyone please speak positive !
Haho – Read the last line of the article.
Also, why give him a hard time regarding the trialists? It’s either he doesn’t know the full details or there’s a reason for his discretion. Ur trying to get onto him for not disclosing all the details? Come on now – be thankful that you know as much as you do as without this blog a lot of us will be left in the dark as to what the youth are saying right now.
TJ DA GOON:
this may well be my favourite site, and I am a regular, and very grateful this site exists. But discretion seems not to be a reason, most of the articles here are written based on existing articles online. I trust J has excellent knowledge of the entire setup and the gossip, but he never has shown any real discretion nor any reason for discretion… And he just gets me excited with new of the trialists performing excellently but we are left in the dark. A good host does not do that. Almost my entire knowledge of Arsenal youth comes from this website (along with it’s admirable though clearly lesser rival Jeorge Bird) but why no names…. I just would like them a lot. And perhaps more updates on progress in signings…
PS: TJ: J said yesterday he had heard it was to be Sunu at Blackpool, but now we know it is JET… Am I wrong therefor to judge his sources a bit?

jet is at blackpool alredi
Arsenal.com confirms J.E.T has been loaned to blackpool for an initial one month.. http://www.arsenal.com/news/reserves-news/emmanuel-thomas-joins-blackpool-on-loan
JET has flown away!!!
J doesn’t work for Arsenal guys. It’s not easy to get all this info on the web without harrassing people who work for the club, and J is doing a great job.
Is this blogger result ever gonna be released. It has been ages! Seems very strange!
Haho – I know what ur saying mate and i understand completely. Like many other followers of this blog and JB’s Youth, i would like to know what’s happening with those trialists but like he stated at the end of this article, he will let us know when he hears something himself. He has good credibility as he doesn’t make shit up or post ‘nothing’ stories just to get hits and although he’s got one or two things wrong in the past (as he isn’t perfect and went along on pure speculation) he doesn’t want to compromise that trust he’s gained from us followers.
Like Guv has pointed out, it’s really hard to get info from the main people at the club and even though i’m not one of the people who are always telling him to ‘keep up the good work’, i have the utmost respect for him as he is a young lad who hopes to be a journalist one day and takes time out of his life to keep us posted on anything that may be going on at the Arsenal at youth level.
I’m also very excited about great young talent that may be signing or not, particularly the boy Wellington ever since J broke the news that he hit FOUR goals in one half of football, but if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen, it’s as simple as that.
Like i said, i understand where ur coming from and i know ur a regular here and on JB’s blog and i respect ur views usually. I just thought you had a bit of a go at J and i feel that’s unfair, that’s all mate.
No problem, I can take criticism…Especially well balanced and argumented criticism… Of course, this site is wonderfull. He knows to much about this Youth setup, it is great. If he ever asked for a little donation to keep the site running, I would pay… So I understand your view of needing to defend him, and I was not having a go at him, not by any means. But to me it seemed as though the simpler things he did not know (trialists names) whilst all the best transfer rumours and details of match reports, both from us and loanees, he delivers without hesitation. It seems to me that quite a few people are privy to such info as whom is trialing. Though, as I should have made clear, I was not having a go at Young Guns, this site has improved my love for all thins Arsenal tenfold, knowing about your own Youth involves one to a next level. Chapeau, J, thanks!
No probs mate. It’s easy to misintepret things when you read them like i probably did.
Gil played for the US u17s on Saturday…
when was this match played?
Whatever happened to Moses Barnett?
Great Job J, keep it going.
Moses Barnett is at Everton now.
Moses Barnett is at Everton (along with Kieran Agard, another ex-Gunner)
J, what do you think about Arsenal closing in on the signing of Massamba Sambou,
i quote;
“he is a 23 year old, defensive midfielder/central defender, and is a strong tall player at 6 foot 2”.
a cheap buy at 1 million, but, I don’t see why, this is just going to hinder the development of Frimpong, Coquelin, etc.
but, it could potentially be a steal?
whats happening with wellington and the serbian kid, wouldnt be surprised if this american kid disappears because we have not actually signed him
http://www.ussoccer.com/News/U-17-MNT/2009/08/US-U-17-MNT-and-Colombia-Draw-for-Second-Time-in-Miami.aspx
Gil played for the US on Saturday
Both the young guns and Big guys are looking good. Since word press change the site I finally fund you again. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/
As Heem has pointed out Gill it is simply not possible for Gill to have played for Arsenal at the weekend due to him being in the US. He played last Wednesday and again later in the week so it calls in to question how factually correct this article is..
Fans of the gunners out there I think the first team could use a powerful striker before the transfer window closes and after all my watching(scouting) of world football I pick the Hulk of Porto FC had a great Peace cup and is what I think the first team needs? And maybe tall centerback pay 7-9 mil per player? I must say Alex Song has been awesome!!!!!! Let’s hear some names?
Hulk is a great player and he would be a good Reinforcement, but we don’t need a new striker, but if we need one later, then I prefer Hulk.
He has a brutal left foot and he’s a real powerhouse.
j, the new youth profiles are up on arsenal.com but i cant tell who a few of them are. the two white kids in the middle row on each end and the tall fella between deacon and boateng. also why didnt deacon, neita, wynters and ansah get profiles?
@Oitre Deacon,Neita,Wynters, and Ansah have yet to establish themselves in the U18 let alone the reserves, besides how the hell is J supposed to know whether or not why some players were included and some werent.
greg, deacon played regulary for the u 18s and yet someone like meade who hardly played has a profile and j runs a youth blog in case you hadent noticed so i figured he might have a better idea.
ottre – I can help you here, Wynter, Neita and Ansah are just schoolboys and are not scholars yet, like edge, angha, etc. As for the missing 3 these are the 2nd year scholars deacon, byles and obed. Updating the official website is a job for someone not a hobby, I am sure that whoever has that job will add these 3 when they get round to it.
Hulk is as intelligent on the pitch as Jesper Gronkjaer was, he is powerful, quick and has a good foot but would never fit into the pass and run of Arsenal
I want to know more about Chucks Aneke,is a Nigerian by birth because his name sounds Nigerian
Arsenal.com have made the new profiles for the reserve players. Afobe, Miguel, Aneke, Hajrovic all there.
Any news on ZĂ©zinho?
Great site J keep it up, any news on wellington and zezinho, seems to have gone quiet on that front. I suspect that when the sun started blabbering on about arsenal making a move, this has now sparked interest from united and chelsea and the rest of them.
If you hear anything , even rumours , i would like to hear them. cheers dude.
Also J, if you do ever get anything wrong or you give us some info and it does not work out that way, dont ever think any of us will think any less of the site, I come on here everyday because you are an unofficial site that can give me more info about our young guns than any other site on the net… respect !
It is so good to be able to keep up to date with all of the Arsenal youngsters’ progress. Good to see they are getting positive results! Will bookmark this site.
Lansbury to Watford…a bit dissapointed he went to a championship side. Thought he could go to a bottom half team in premier league, but then maybe he would not get to play that much
suspicious about srna coming now…seems so from description of club from agent in skynews yesterday.
Srna? I’ve not heard anything about that. Got a link or anything? Would be an interesting signing I think.
Regarding Lansbury, I’m not sure how pleased I am to see him go on loan again. I suppose it’s a good thing because he’ll be getting first team football, it would have been nice to see him given a chance in the Carling Cup at least.
Sean, my perspective is that Lansbury going out on loan will benefit all because of the high competition in central midfield. Ramsey, Merida and Wilshere has done very well and needs time.
About the Srna is my own speculation on a very loose foundation, so just a curiousity. In this article the agent says that he is most likely to join a club in the premier league that is at the moment selling a right winger; Srna’s is very versatile and strong at right back and right wing, Eboue is very versatile and strong at right back and right wing. Eboue is rumoured to be on the way out, and if not Chelsea is selling Joe Cole I can not see it could be them and City has got Wright-Phillips

could be the scum from across the road though
they might want to reap their reward for the tremendous success of Bentley
@JamieDugganGonner: Moses Barnett is at Everton.
Okay, i thought he was highly rated and was suppose to be next big thing
U-18s drew with Sheff Utd today. Roarie Deacon Scored
Is J dead?
damn lack of new posts!!!!! not even an article about JET or Lansbury yet!!!
What’s happening with Gilbert?
Also, blog idol?
Any latest on the Frimpong injury?
Lansbury is at Watford along with ManU’s Cleverly
Man, what happened to this blog. It’s still good but back then it was getting comments in its hundreds. Now not even daily updates, I know it’s not your job but. Save your blog dude.
J’s obviously got some stuff gong on, so be patient.
Arsenal is looking good. Ir should be a great season. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/

Is sedneros, traore, silvstres playing 2moro?
hey J you need more peple on this web site, i look for a artical everyday and am sadded not to see any thing. more articals please.
no preview for the reserves match, which I have never seen before in all the time here, so I am sure he will be back in time with his usual punctuality when ready. Looking forward to the posts again. Wonderful reports and knowledge about the youth coming through the system.
I think J has been slowly losing interest in this blog.
I think everyone appreciates that J has other things to do as well so I think that more people should be “employed” to write articles to ensure that this blog remains the best and stays up to date. That is of no offence to J who has clearly done an amazing job on this blog.
If Jamie has gone M.I.A for whatever reason, all he has to do is post it on his blog that he is going to be absent for x amount of days, and that way people whould know when he is coming back, and then they could start reading his blog again.
Please for the love of god someone ban this bobby gee person! He’s getting on my tits with his spamming!!!
Guys, please be appreciative of J’s situation. Whatever’s happened is obviously serious enough for him not to be able to get online.
As for him losing interest – rubbish. I talk with J quite often (I’m the “other writer” on the site) and he’s got big, big plans for Youngguns, which I’m sure will come to fruition.
I’ve e-mailed him today and will try to catch him on msn soon. As soon as I hear from him, I’ll tell you guys the score.
hi Jamie i think this site need to beef up on our under 16 info…keep up the gud work…looking forward for the next article!cheers…

Does anybody know who is that kid who signed for ajax when he was 13 in the 90’s?
TheCritic
There where lots of 13 year old kids that signed for Ajax during the 1990’s can you be more specific.
I think TheCritic means that english kid who had offers from Totnumb etc but wanted to join Ajax youth team instead.
Sonny Pike thats it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Pike
He plays non-league now.
Dont know why I was thinking bout’ that, thanks Neal S, thats what I meant,
