Arsenal Step Up Chase For Newcastle's Krul

Arsenal will step up their chase of Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul by sending scouts to tonight’s Under 21 International between Holland and England.

The fixture sees three Arsenal players on show – winger Jack Wilshere and left back Kieran Gibbs for England – while Nacer Barazite will line up alongside Krul for Holland. Young Guns revealed that the Gunners were talking to the Magpies last month regarding the Dutchman’s availability but no offer arrived. Instead, Steve Rowley’s henchman are expected to make final checks on the 21-year-old this evening.

Krul won huge applause when he made his League debut for Newcastle United at the weekend as they kicked off their Championship campaign  away to West Brom. An injury to Steven Harper at half time presented the prospect a chance to impress, and he did. Several stunning saves showed off Tim’s agility and reflexes as many tipped the youngster to break into the first-team on a regular basis.

Portsmouth, Wigan and Hull City are also expected to send a posse of officials to watch Krul this evening.

Objective A: find the best players available. If Krul is better than our current alternatives, get him and sell off the others. You keep recruiting until you get the next Buffon – no pointing sticking with the next Sebastian Larssons if you can get the next Cesc Fabregas.

‘axe’ is actually the European version of lynx, just like ‘Lays’ is the equivalent of Walkers.

I like Krul, but we dont need him and Mannone has looked class.

Oh and Wenger, we don’t need an effing GK but Hangeland!

Wilshere did not see much of the ball when he came on. Gibbs had a pretty solid game and Barazite was very good went close with 2 long range shots. Krul impressed when i watched him against WBA, how much would he cost? And would he be 2nd choice or 3rd?

Dont take Krul from us he has been a fans favorite since Palermo three years ago. You lot dont need him now anyway, he is just about to break through for us. For you he would have another couple of years on the bench.

He is one of the only good things going for us right now

I reckon if you can find a GK better than the understudies we have now, then why not? However I doubt he would come to Arsenal as other clubs could offer him #1 or understudy. At Arsenal we could be looking at 3rd or 4th choice ‘keeper.

Barazite played excellently. Everything positive the Dutch did went through him. England are just a torrid side. They are such an unimaginative side it’s a miracle they ever score. When they do, it tends to be either from crosses or a solo effort. They lack any sort of cohesion or invention.

Nice one. who else you seen him play against? Palermo and err… or are you a regular follower of newcastle reserves.

Holland were just as bad as England and created very little too. A few long ranged shots and that was it. Both teams kept giving the ball away.
People seem to make things up as they go along on these typing parts of the blog.
Agbonlahor and Hart don’t play for the U21’s anymore either.
The game was just like a pre-season one for both teams.

I don’t think Pearce has a clue what to do as usual. Especially with a player like Wilshere.
Playing Vaughan on his own upfront isn’t going to work.

Has anyone else seen Stuart Pearce’s comment today in the Telegraph about “how many of them have watched him (Jack Wilshere) at the Under-17 or Under-19 championships?” Shows how informed he is about his players.

I did Gianni. He’s seen Jack in the under 19’s? Hmmm.

I watched the second half yesterday and Pearce is still a clueless cunt in my eyes.

Does anyone else get the impression that he doesn’t rate Jacky boy?

Henri Lanbsury picked a groin injury from England under 19 thats whta scunthorpe manager said.

Pearce hasnt got a clue. When he said how many of them have watched him at the under 17 and under 19? That made me angry hes peformed for arsenal first team i n carling cups, chmapions league against top teams. Pearce got the cheek to mention the under 17 and under 19. Arsenal fa youth cup team could beat england under 21s. Pearce doesnt like talking about attacking players look walcott for gods sakes
