Arsenal Trials For Helsinge Youngster Skov

Arsenal have invited highly rated Helsinge youngster Daniel Skov for trials next month after the 11-year-old impressed at a summer training camp.

The prospect was in England over the summer visiting various training centres run by Premier League clubs to help keep children occupied over the holiday period. Arsenal sent scouts to several of these to keep an eye on any players who could be potential starlets for the future, and Skov impressed greatly.

Daniel currently plays for a team in the North of Denmark called Helsinge, where he is a regular for their Under 12’s. However, due to his rapid rate of development, Skov trains with Danish Superliga outfit FC Nordsjælland three times a week. Noted for his superb vision and technical ability, it remains to be seen whether Liam Brady and his coaching staff would consider bringing Daniel into the club at such a young age. Yet a deal could be struck which would see him link up when he turns 16.

More to follow.

    To goonerguy:
Jack Wilshere joined Arsenal since 9 years of age.
That would be a bit too far I guess. Hmm…

goonerguy – Hahahaha. That’s quite true.

Frankly, i don’t think it’s possible to sign foreign EU kids before the age of 16, hence the last line of the article (although i could be wrong).

I think J needed a break from all these questions about Wellington, Zezinho, Batrovic, Gil et al hence his little disappearing act over the last couple of days. Can’t blame him – that shit will do my feckin head in! :)

kevlinefm: There’s a distinct difference between joining the academy at 9 and recruiting an 11 year-old foreigner to move to London to join the club.

I can’t imagine it’ll happen, but I’ve been surprised before.

J., Welcome back…cheated on the site in your absence, found some action on another site in your absence ;) But good having you back; its a unique site! Would be very interest on Kerea Gilbert’s development, could you be so kind to give a comment on that? I saw him back for the reserves, starting the game even.

Would be a question if the youngster joined Arsenal, moving away from Denmark at eleven. But when he may stay in his home environment, and being followed up by Arsenal, I see nothing wrong in it.
By the way, very interesting article in the Daily Mail, with Martin Samuel, where Wenger talks about fear and rationale. How people are wanting solutions from outside with transfers, not seeing the rational solution and the actual situation, strength and development of the squad. Good job there J, you have given a lot of information to see the depth of the squad with youngsters coming through

Wenger is correct with his conclusion that developing the sqaud is better than buying, though it would excite us fans more if he signed 1 or 2 players more.

Btw I dont really think this lad is going to join us even to stay there until 16 and then come. We’ll be sending scouts and waiting while he turn 15/16 and eventually sign him.

Yes, there is a distinct difference. But what are you trying to point out? It is not surprising actually.
If he’s good, we train him ourselves. Nothing wrong, nothing surprising, nothing bad.
Some of our academy players might be foreigners and you wouldn’t even know it.
It’s like a 12 year old kid going to England for better education.

Love the site and I always check it out as you get some clear inside info. However I’m not sure posting news like this is of any help to Arsenal. Surely your just helping others to keep an eye on a young kid whom Arsenal are monitoring but haven’t signed yet.

The Critic, you are welcome mate. Not my intention to do commercial for other sites, if you want more sites to supplement then the links J provide are very nice. Some sites provide transfer news as well, but I think J. has been very balanced there. He has not always been correct, but I think why people ask him too much about transfers is that he has been more correct than other sites that at least I have seen; and I think that comes down to him being careful, patient and checking up as much sources he can before posting.

What my point was before though, is that we must stop looking for a saviour to ease our fear about the clubs future, it is a patient game trusting this youth policy; I found myself biting my teeth to that bandwagon myself this year, even though a firm believer in youth policy for years and still now. After reading the interview with Wenger I see he has a good point. We should not be guided by fear, but rather rationally see this squad is developing. This site provides that option, to see the depth of talent and development. Being a supporter since the days of Smith and Graham, I can only be positive about the developments of the club. Compare it to the Spurs.

This age fetish has gone to far! What about adding to the first squad and not the reserves. It’s sickening to see our club behave like this. I like giving youth’s a try, it’s only fair to give young players a chance to. But a kid born 98 is going to far. Enough with this bullshit.

Hi, I’m the one who wrote the news to you guys, in the contact form. I know Daniel and his coach in Helsinge in Denmark. Daniel trains twice a week with the u-12/13 in Helsinge, and three times a week with the u-14 talent team in FC Nordsjælland. Obviously not the first team from the SAS league.. The talent team is for the best youth players in the region, and Daniel is playing with the boys a year or two older than himself.
Daniel will not move to England yet, he has decided to stay in Denmark to graduate from school, and then see what happens then..
