Arsenal V Leicester – U18's Lose – Under 16's Win

Arsenal’s Under 18’s lost their 100% winning record this morning by being crushed 4-2 against a hard working and exciting Leicester City side.

Luke Freeman’s 4th of the season combined with a Cedric Evina effort only proved to be consolations. All the plaudits go to Leicester who look a real side to be reckoned with.

More to follow.

While Arsenal’s Under 18’s suffered defeat to City, Steve Gatting’s Under 16’s cruised to a comfortably victory in the earlier kick off.

An even start to the game belied the eventual outcome. Leicester managed to find the net twice in the first period but five unanswered strikes from Zak Ansah saw the Gunners take control. Samir Bihmoutine and Josh Rees added insult to injury to complete a 7-2 victory.

Leicester could be a tough opponent in the FAYC this season. They seem impressive.

The leicester side were poor so arsenal looked better than they played. It should have been 20 nil. To concede 2 to a weak side is worrying

Evina’s goal was very silly though. Freeman stood out as best player by far. Obed won’t play first team

@ WEM, with our 1st choice XI/ experiened scholars, they arent as tough opposition as it seems. They are mainly a powerful team who plays football when opportunities arises.

    McDermott

    Byles/Obed/Boateng/Brislen-Hall

    Aneke/Ozyakup

    Meade

    Freeman Evina

    Afobe

I’m guessing we lined up something like this. Not surprised by the result if it was. Still, this is a good learning curve for the lads.

Freeman for me looks a real talent. Hes finisher and hes got alot of ability in the next few years u can see him getting faster and strionger as well.

BTW JS havard nordvteit played as a centre half yesterday was very good and pedro botelho played. Henri lansbury played for watford was very good second half. He created the free kick for the goal and generally was good

I wouldn’t worry too much. Leicester are the best Academy side in the country, won 3-0 at Liverpool a couple of weeks ago, they are the team to beat this year and we fell short.

    Their centre-backs are gigantic.
