Loanees – Simpson's Brace & Nordtveit V Bayern

Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal currently have five Reserves & Youth players gaining experience elsewhere. Striker Jay Simpson is taking part in his third loan spell in as many years with West London outfit Queens Park Rangers. He is joined in the Championship by Henri Lansbury and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas who are with Watford and Blackpool respectively.

The Gunners currently have two youngsters cutting their teeth abroad. Pedro Botelho is spending his third successive loan spell in the Spanish Segunda, but this time with Celta de Vigo, while Håvard Nordtveit is spending the campaign in Germany with Nuremberg.

Read all the latest reports below.

Jay Simpson played 77 minutes and scored both goals as Queens Park Rangers beat Cardiff City 2-0.

The pacy front-man opened his account on 19 minutes by thumping a low drive into the corner from inside the box. Just five minutes later he latched onto Wayne Routledge’s through ball to double the advantage. Having run his socks off all game, Jay was replaced by Allesandro Pellicori om 77 minutes.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas played the final 25 minutes as Blackpool beat Nottingham Forest 1-0.

Charlie Adam’s superb strike gave Ian Holloway’s men a hard earned win. Jay replaced Hameur Bouazza in the 65th minute to help make sure the Seasiders returned home with the points.

Henri Lansbury played 45 minutes for Watford as they played out a 3-3 draw with Leicester City.

Having started just behind Danny Graham up front, the Hornets gave away a cheap penalty with just 20 minutes gone and it was converted by Matty Fryatt. Fraytt then doubled his and his sides tally going in the break. Lansbury was replaced at the break by returning hero Heidar Helguson. Graham managed to pull one back before Helguson smashed home a header minutes later to level the scores. Helguson thought he had won it with another goal but a 90th minute strike from Danny N’Guessan saw it finish 3-3.

Håvard Nordtveit played the full 90 minutes as Nuremberg lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich.

Nordtveit was again deployed in midfield and put in a battling display as Nuremberg lost a game they should have got something from. Choupo-Moting’s excellent equalizer after Ivica Olic put Munich ahead gave them hope but Daniel Van Buyten struck eight minutes from time to win his side all three points.

Pedro Botelho played the full 90 minutes as Celta Vigo lost 1-0 to Córdoba.

The Brazilian wing-back had two powerful shots well saved in the second half but a 24th minute goal from Agus was crucial in deciding the points.

I like him as well guys, but I really don’t see Jay making the grade here especially with the likes of Vela a similar age.

Clio – It’s on Monday – I will realise more information tomorrow.

That’s what jay needs to do though. He’s shown really good finishing at times in the league cup for example, but didn’t score much at WBA last season or for millwall, although to be fair I think he played wide quite a lot there. Wenger seems to like him so if he can find the net consistently I’d have thought he has a shot of making it into the squad. Vela is clearly better than simpson (and every other young player at the club imo), but I could see jay challenging players like walcott (along with barazite and watt) in the future. MIght depend on how long he’s willing to wait for a chance..

something incredible has to happen if Simpson is to make it here.

I think Wenger will let the Verminator and Gallas play together this year and the next and after that Nordveit will take William’s place in the team. I think it might depend on how Djourou will get on. If he is fit for next season, Nordveit might be loaned out again, otherwise, he might be deployed as third choice next season. I really think Tommy and Havard could become our Bould and Adams for almost a decade.

I really do think Djourou has a big future in the centre of our defence and very sure it will be with Verminator.I have to admit i havent really seen Nordveit that much so my opinion will be rather lobsided to Djourou.
When i think back and remember Djouoru’s performance in the 2-1 win against Chelsea i really think that wat he is capable of producing week in week out and i dont mean the own goal.
Simpson looks good but i see him doing a better impression of Aliadiere

I just got done watching Nordveit vs Bayern Munich and to be honest, he was very impressive at defensive midfield. He had no impact on the game. He made like 3 tackles, didnt close down attackers very well and didnt read the game very well. He kinda just jogged around and he clrearly looks more like he should be a centerback. Youngguns…please give us the real report on these players or there is no point in reading them.

i also watch nordtveit game against bayern. he looked lost in midfield. but he do have a good technical ability, just like vermaelen. wenger might convert him into defensive midfielder. as for jay simpson, he might benefit from arsenal new formation. lets see what happen next season.

I think he is clrearly not a defensive mid, but my point is I read these articles on here to find out about our youngsters and if everything is just watered down and way to biased and doesnt give an accurate description of how they played then what is the point of reading it.

Bartley has a better shot to replace Gallas than Djourou or Nordtvelt in two years time. Bartley is a natural right side CB and 6.3 with the meaness to handle Drogba-like players.

Nordvelt and Djourou are not premiership-type CB’s. I can see Djourou falling on the same low track as Senderos.

Again, if Simpson can deliver goals then he has a chance since Vela plays similarly like RVP and are not suitable to play top a la Ade, Anelka or Wright. Vela is physically weak unlike Simpson even though skillful. Simpson is direct, powerful and pacy; attributes necessary to play top in the EPL.

You are obviously very bias toward english players. The suggest Kyle Bartley is a shure thing over Nordveit makes when Bartley has yet to play at a proffesional level while Nordveit is in his 3rd year of pro football. And as for Simpson, he will probly be let go this year but he is not good enough to be the starter for Arsenal.
