Barazite Ruled Out For The Year After Shoulder Op

Nacer Barazite’s year is over after the Dutch winger was given a recovery time of 8 to 12 weeks after having surgery on his troublesome shoulder.

The Holland U21 international aggravated the injury whilst playing for his country earlier in the month against Finland and as a result will miss the up and coming Carling Cup clash against Liverpool. Barazite has had frequent trouble with his shoulder in the past, previously dislocating it whilst actually playing in the Carling Cup against Blackburn Rovers two seasons ago.

Nacer has looked lively so far this season and has been a key figure in the reserves unbeaten start. After spending last season on loan at Derby the injury comes as a real blow for the young gunner who was hoping to make a genuine attempt to break in to the first team squad this season. The club have now decided to act on the problem and go directly to surgery – something they eventually had to do with Theo Walcott – during a time where second-string fixtures are scarce.

Although Barazite is yet to really impose himself of Arsene Wenger’s teams this season, he had a 21 minute cameo against West Brom earlier in the season and it was likely that he would have had some playing time against Liverpool in mid-week. However, Barazite will be hoping that he returns swiftly from his surgery in what could be a defining season for the young man.

A few of you might find this interesting…I don’t know.

I have just got back in from a night out in Faces in Essex, there were quite a few of our boys in there, I saw Jay Emmanuel Thomas, Connor Henderson, Luke Ayling, Kyle Bartley and Gilles Sunu all enjoying themselves. Not sure if its really the best attitude or habit to have trying to break into the 1st team….

Anyway just thought I would let you guys know.

I thought you said he was out for a year at first! 10 weeks is not the end of world. hope he can play a decent part of the season still – I rate Barazite very highly.

Gazzap – I rate Barazite as well but it’s more of whether he can break back into the Reserves side when he eventually returns. In my opinion the first team is too far for him as we have Nasri, Rosicky, Arshavin, Wilshere, etc. As for the reserves, if another player steps up, Barazite could simply be forced out of Arsenal.

Hopefully he will be back in January, so he will be able to play in place of our Africans who are away at the ACN.

In my opinion he’s great player and surely one for the future but as I see Arsene don’t like(?)/rate him as much because ahead of him is for egzample Merida. In general midfield players have a hugely tough job in front of them in terms even playing last seconds of match. Song, Denilson, Fabregas, Diaby, Nasri, Rosicky, Ramsey, Wilshere then I don’t know where are this young guys going to play. I don’t know maybe in December, January, February when we will play in PL, CL, FACup and maybe CC. I would rather want to see them scoring for us than against.

It’s hard to see where Barazite fits into the 4-3-3, as he doesn’t have the defensive qualities for a midfield berth. The only option is right-forward, but Walcott and Bendtner have that position on lock for the next 5-10 years.

    Jay-

Have you heard anything on Merida’s contract? Is he legitimately considering leaving Arsenal? That would really hurt, in my opinion. Think he’s a big player.
