Gavin Hoyte made his debut for Brighton and Hove Albion yesterday just 24 hours after completing the paperwork for a month long loan deal. He started at right back for the Seasiders as they drew 2-2 with Yeovil Town.
Brighton began well and had a reward for their effort inside the opening 6 minutes when Andy Crofts beat home glovesman Alex McCarthy with a composed finish. Hoyte was required to make two rugged challenges as Yeovil battled back but it was the visitors who would extend the lead through Liam Dickinson’s lashed finished.
But Town hit back through Scott Murray before half time following a slick move and terrible defending from Brighton – of which Gavin was not involved. It seemed they would hold on for a win but Yeovil won and converted a penalty with 8 minutes left to claim a point.
Pedro Botelho racked up another 90 minutes for Celta Vigo as their stuttering start to the season continued with a 1-1 draw. The Brazilian started on the left hand side of midfield in a 4-4-2 as the managerless outfit switched things around. It appeared to work as Celta took the lead through Aspas Juncal Iago following Botelho’s cross just two minutes after half time, but they again dropped points when Francisco David Sousa levelled for Albacete.
Zak Ansah was again in the goals yesterday as he bagged a classy brace for Arsenal’s Under 16’s as they beat Ipswich Town 2-1. The pacy forward will link up with the England squad next week for the SkySports Victory Shield and he got in the swing of things with two neat finishes. Midfielder Joe Jones should have incrased the scoreline but he had a hat-trick of headers well saved.

Looks like Zak Ansah is in good form for the game against the Wales U16’s team in the Victory Shield this thursday night.
Big time mate. I think he’s going to have the same sort of impact that Benik Afobe had last season.
That’s if he starts of coarse, because Everton’s Hallam Hope also knows how to put the ball in the back of the net awsell mate.
The England U19’s team have just beat Slovenia U19’s 3-1 and Arsenal’s Rory Deacon scored his first England goal from the penalty spot on 80 minutes, P.S a very big congratulations to him.
it’s impressive that you go into a bit of detail with obscure match reports from games like that which gavin hoyte played in. it would be easy to not go to such trouble, but know that your effort is appreciated by all those who come to this site.
thanks!
on a side note just how good is benik afobe? i’ve never had a chance to see him, but i hear him mentioned a lot.
j how is pedro progressing in spain? how has his performences been?
and any insight as to why arsenal.com don’t acknowledge him in the loan watch??
cheers mate
Service ensures goals, without it, NO GOAL.
How far can Afobe & Ansah go, could they be as good as wrighty?? Thierry??
Cheers
Cheers mate. It wasn’t a great deal more work if I’m honest, just spent an extra 10 minutes watching the highlights instead of just writing down the main match points.
Pedro is doing really well in Spain. Celta are failing to reach the heights expected after signing lots of good players and the situation is quite difficult, but he’s just keeping his head down and playing well. Thats idea after what went on last year.
No idea why Arsenal don’t bother with updates, maybe because it actually requires some work to update. The official site has only just added the new player pictures for this season.
Shaun – Very true, but what about Henry? he didn’t always need service to score goals. Thats the difference between outstanding strikers and average ones – they can make something from nothing.
Afobe & Ansah could be very good. They’re very exciting but quite similar. Everybody says – wouldn’t it be good for Henry & Wrighty to play up front together – but I’d worry that they’d step on each others toes.
Afobe and Ansah both benefit from playing with a creative striker like Deacon in the Under 18’s or Aneke with the Under 16’s.
chambers is in the wlesh squad to play england
Aneke plays for the U16, that has to be wrong doesn’t it? Sure you didn’t mean Neita?

This is a good sign Yeovil Town came back from a 0-2 deficit to tie it up. I am glad Hoyte and Albion played well in the tie. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com
does anyone knows where I can find more informations about Arsenal under 16 squad. Answer please
I doubt gavin hoyte could come back as a regular first team player at arsenal….sincerly he seems to be more a good player for mid tlabe PL clubs or championship clubs nothing else
