Loanees – Simpson Scores + Watch Lansbury's Brace

Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal currently have six Reserves & Youth players gaining experience elsewhere. Jay Simpson is taking part in his third loan spell in as many years with West London outfit Queens Park Rangers. He is joined in the Championship by Henri Lansbury and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas who are with Watford and Blackpool respectively. Gavin Hoyte has made his second loan move in a year by sealing a temporary switch to Brighton in League One.

The Gunners currently have two youngsters cutting their teeth abroad. Pedro Botelho is spending his third successive loan spell in the Spanish Segunda, but this time with Celta de Vigo, while Håvard Nordtveit is spending the campaign in Germany with Nuremberg.

Read all the latest reports below.

Jay Simpson played 74 minutes for Queens Park Rangers and scored in a 4-2 win over Derby County.

In a thriller broadcast across the nation on BBC Two, Derby raced into a 2-0 lead after a silky finish from ex Arsenal striker Paul Dickov before Robbie Savage curled home a free-kick. Adel Taarabat then bent in a set piece of his own on half time setting up an interesting second period.

QPR exploded into life in the second half and equalised after Gavin Mahon got in front of Jay Simpson to poke home Wayne Routledge’s cross, 2-2. Simpson then had his moment when he bullied his way through Derby’s injury laden back line to coolly slot beyond Stephen Bywater. Having scored in midweek, Simpson is the Championship’s form man.

On 74 minutes a tired Jay was replaced by Rowan Vine. Akos Buzsaky made it 4-2 with a minute later, smashing in a penalty.

Henri Lansbury played 90 minutes, scored two goals and claimed an assist as Watford thrashed struggling Sheffield Wednesday 4-1.

Adrian Marriapa took advantage of poor defending and a deflection to clip Watford into a 21st minute lead, which was doubled when Lansbury’s powerful run saw him break through the Wednesday back line before side footing a second. Marcus Tudgay pulled one back with a flick head but the Hornets blitzed their visitors in the second half.

Henri pulled the ball back for Jon Harley to lash a third, and the rout was completed when Tom Cleverly went on a mazy run, he then slid it back to Lansbury to smash home from the penalty spot. It finished 4-1.

You can watch the goals Here.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was an unused substitute for Blackpool as they drew 0-0 with Swansea City.

Emmanuel-Thomas did manage to get some game time in midweek and claimed an assist so surprisingly he was left on the bench as Ian Holloway’s side struggled to break down an in form Swansea.

Gavin Hoyte played 90 minutes at centre back as Brighton lost 2-0 to Oldham Athletic.

Hoyte moved back inside following a switch around in the Brighton ranks but he couldn’t stop his new club from succumbing to defeat against an impressive Oldhams outfit. Pawel Abbot put the visitors in front on the hour mark before Rueben Hazell secured the points with a late second.

Håvard Nordtveit played the final 16 minutes as Nuremberg lost 3-0 to Hoffenheim.

Nordtveit came on for the closing stages and helped shut up shop but the damage was already done as strikes from Christian Eichner, Vedad Ibisevic and sub Franco Veculini condemmed Nuremberg to defeat.

IMpson may have to do something extreemly well and try to be a power striker like drogba, other than that, i dont hink he may have a chance. But loaning him will increase his market value. Lansbury at 22 may be read y for arsenal. Needs to be more consistent

I keep saying it Henri Lansbury is superb when hes get fully fit and plays more games and gets better physically hes going to be awesome for arsenal.

Hes better than Jay thomas, thomas for me has been found out he needs to go to league 1 and toughen up and learn his trade like lansbury did even though he had la liga, premiership, championship clubs all after him. His attitude is superb plus hes arsenal through and through

Thomos is like diaby in myview. i think hee needs to bulk up and be more enthused and not play the “beating his man” game all the time. He needs to watch watt. Watt uses his enthusiams to show Wenger himself. SO watt is a player that is always on wenger;s mind

Really impressed with Lansbury, I’ve always been a massive fan of his and I’m glad he’s doing well at Watford, would like to see him play a few pre season games next season and go from there, if he’s just going to be a bench warmer, we might as well loan him to a prem club.

okay lansbury IS a very good player but lets not get carried away. hes just started to show his quality in the championship. lets see if he can consistently perform at that level before we even think about going any where near the bench of a premier league fixture.

    Jesus_saves

Henri Lansbury may be ready for Arsenal at 22, thats three years away, i would say 20 is more realistic injury and form permitting of coarse mate.

I think Lansbury is a quality player, but being an attacking midfielder he is going to have to be very patient, and i’m not sure he will be cos he is desperate to prove how good he is. I think he might leave if a decent offer comes along, unless he is an actual Arsenal fan at heart.

So Jesus saves, does he? He could be the answer to our goalkeeping conundrum.

You’re obsessed with Jay Thomas, wtf do you always want to compare him with Lansbury. I agree with Tony, Lansbury had ONE good game and it’s good for him, but he’s gonna have to show consistency. Hopefully watford’s manager will play him CM from now on

John – We know you would. You’ve stated so on about 57 occasions now. I would take Lansbury over JET too but you don’t need to always try and convince others to go along with your opinion on things. That’s the beauty of a blog – to allow people to let their opinions on certain subjects/things known.

I think the next two seasons are very very important for Lansbury.

This year he has to keep performing for Watford, and next season he might have to settle for Carling Cup or mayb a lower prem club loan.

He has Walcott, Nasri, Arshavin, Rosiky, Eboue, Diaby, Eduardo, Wiltshire, Marida and Cesc playing in positions which he could play.

I rate this guy, and think that we should do our all to keep him at Arsenal, as he and Wilshire will be amonst the best players in the country and play for England.

Never saw lansbury play live, just some highlights but from what i see he seems to be a very special player , specially with the double control in the first goal he seem to have some amazing skillz.
