Arsenal's Afobe Heading For Spain After Barça Invite

Barcelona’s copycat chase of two of Arsenal’s Under 18 starlets has been stepped up with Barça represenatives making formal offers for both Benik Afobe and Chukwuemeka Aneke to visit their Catalan base for talks.

Explosive midfielder Aneke has spurred the European Champions advances, preferring to remain with Arsenal, but Afobe is set to jet out during the week after completing England Under 17 duty where his 4 goals in 3 games earned him player of the tournament.

Young Guns revealed on Tuesday that Barcelona were scouting Benik and since then the worlds media have taken our story and run with it, including the UK’s ‘Gutter Press’. The 16-year-old’s agent is speaking daily with the Blaugrana while Liam Brady must mull over whether to offer improved terms to the striker who has been offered a standard professional contract on his 17th birthday.

Barça are awaiting the green light from the player before showing their hand in the form of a deal. Up to £5500 a week in wages has been mooted but whether the terms materialise will be down to Afobe’s reaction after looking checking out their facilities. West Ham have previously tried to sign the bulky frontman who has 7 Academy League goals this term – making him joint top scorer.

    guys..
barca has the best youth academy..face the facts!!
arsenal is 2nd now and that is thanks to Arsene Wenger.. he only started all this a few years back..
while barca has been producing talents for ages..
i think some of the arsenal fans here are mostly under 18’s..and only started watching football recently..
i support arsene! hopefully he’l stay on at arsenal longer and give an impact on the club like johan cruyff did..
    all the best..

barca has the best youth academy? based on what?
Arsenals youth academy is arguably better, we produce more stars who actualy play first team football.

lol, stop, please. How can our academy be better? Its only now we’re bringing out talent like Wilshere and Gibbs, Aneke and Afobe, Ansah and Wynter, and obviously the boys on loan and who made their CC debuts.

Arsenal have maybe best youth academy in England but come on Barca’s is easily best in world, you only have to look at their team and see the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Messi to realise it is better than that of the Gooner’s! Oh and obviously there academy also heralded Arsenal cult hero Fabregas, need I say more!

I definitely want the lads to go to Barca, and I’m an Arsenal fan! Before you guys get all hot and bothered, I would like to remind you that the players ahead of them in the pecking order aren’t OAPs – we’re not Milan after all – and there chances of obtaining first team football for the next few years are limited.

Going to Barcelona will help them develop their football in a new environment but more importantly it will keep them away from the English spotlight – and the prying eyes of other middling English clubs who would inevitably screw up the lads development.

If these two are good enough then they’ll break through into a superb Barcelona side and then when they’ve reached their prime they’ll hopefully have a grand home coming – as is destined to happen with Fabregas.

They Can go but if they go to Barcelona then in case Fabregas goes to back to Barcelona they should be swapped for Fabregas as the high Value on the other side they should have gained Professionla experience.

I like the style FC Barcelona have with young players. They have the best youth academy, so this would be good for a player like Afobe.
