Eastmond In Wenger's Arsenal Squad For Wolves Trip

Young Guns’ September Player of the Month Craig Eastmond has been rewarded for a fantastic month which included a run out in the Carling Cup by being named in Arsène Wenger’s travelling 18 for the trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow.

The combative defensive midfielder is very much a surprise inclusion as the Gunners continue their title push with a 5.30pm kick off at Molineux Stadium. Eastmond has never been included in a Premier League squad and therefore the 18-year-old life-long Arsenal fan would be making his PL debut if he was brought on.

Interestingly Craig has been prefered to Francis Coquelin and Emmanuel Frimpong, both of whom were tipped to play for the first team by Under 18’s coach Steve Bould. Eastmond’s inclusion surely suggestions that he is in contention to fill the void left by Alexandre Song when the African Cup of Nations claims him during January.

unless he travelled with the squad in case of a last minute injury. I imagine they might quite often take a young player as backup in case of an injury maybe?

Jerry, you know it’s not the same. He was shown on the telly alongside the rest of the lads, there was no Coquelin, no Merida, just Eastmond as a back-up player. JS might have gotten his information a bit wrong but the argument stands, Eastmond was ahead of Coquelin.

In J:s defence, I saw Eastmond on TV. So Eastmond was in travelling squad as the 19th player.

J slightly got his info wrong as he does say Eastmond is in the final 18 squad, whereas he was the back up.

“Do you think if Mark Randall wasnt British, he would still be at the club?”

How long did Aliadiere stay? It couldn’t have been till he was 23 because he was shit and foreign and Wenger totally would have given up on him at like 18. Oh wait…

LOL J, better luck next time dude.

Eastmond did travel but was only on stand by like many of the youngsters have been. (Wilshere was famously fuming after not being used).

    Apologies

Aliadiere spent alot of time on loan and Wenger was trying to cash in on him similar to the Senderous situation.

If Everton Have a bad season, then I think that Wenger should splash the cash and Get in Rodwell.

he is going to be a natural CB, and right now is a solid DM Great cover for both our defence and also midfield.

    1. Eastmond is at the accademy since he’s 11 years old. Wenger cares about his owns and might just bring in Coquelin to raise the level of competition within the academy before they are asked to move on or become squad players

    2. Eastmond has a height advantage for a DM over coquelin

    2. He’s english and that’s definitely the new face of future Arsenal according to Wenger
