Marinkovic Jets In For Second Arsenal Trial

FC Lucerne left back Stefan Marinkovic will fly in with Arsenal duo Martin Angha and Elton Monteiro for a second trial with the club next week.

The 6 foot 1 inch full back has already played for the Gunners having turned out for the Under 16’s at the Emirates Stadium in a pre-season friendly with Chelsea. Like Angha, Monterio and Hajrovic, Marinkovic is Swiss-born but he can claim Serbian nationality through his parents.

Stefan’s explosive performances in the Nike Cup promoted Arsenal scouts to invite him to London Colney for a closer look. Four days later Liam Brady was still undecided and despite interest from Chelsea, the cultured defender has earned himself a make or break chance to prove his worth in North London with a second training stint.

Marinkovic is a tall yet skilful Swiss Under 15 international who loves to get forward – very much like Brazilian wing-back Pedro Botelho. Despite possessing a gaunt looking frame, he’s willing to put himself into challenges and is especially noted for having a scrappy tenacious nature. It appears Arsenal’s traditional mould of having diminutive and rapid left backs is changing in favour of more aggressive and tall ones.

Haha. I must this say is an interesting choice with young James Campbell looking a decent left back option for the Under 16’s.

Or he’s just another center-back who can play at left back too and yeah Dan is right. Why we aren’t in searching of right back. We’ve Clichy, Gibbs, Traore, Vermaelen and Silvestre can play there. Tom Cruise played last season in U18, now Evina and J mentioned James Campbell. It’s simply nonsense for me.

6’1 is a good size for a full back. You can bulk him up some. What I mean weight training and five pounds of muscle mass.

I think that César Azpilicueta of Osasuna is the best young RB in the world. Hes not just a terrific player, but a captain, a motivator….would be a great addition

I was very impressed with Azpilicueta when I watched him a couple of seasons ago. He played in the same team as Carlos Vela and always looked very durable and solid.

I guess Arsenal have identified Switzerland as the next hot spot because of their growing diversity of talent (children of immigrants — refugees or otherwise, etc.)

We might have alot of left back right now but Evina and Traore is not good enough for us. They will probably leave or Traore might stay and play LW but even in that position I think he is not Arsenal quality. Silvestre is getting too old to play LB and will probably leave in the end of the season. Vermaelen is a CB and will never play LW as long as Gibbs and Clichy is available. I have never seen or heard of Campbell before but he is playing in U16 and at that age we don’t know how good he will turn out to be. Cruise hasn’t even play as LB this season so we don’t know how good he will be either. He can also play in DM and CB and can make an Eastmond… Cruise was looking terrific as LB for me and I believe he can make it and challange Gibbs but I am not sure becouse he is yet to be feature. If he come it will take atleast 4-5 years before he will make it and Clichy will be 29-30 years by then. Gibbs will be 26? I think it will be good for Campbell to have competition.

In other news, Henri Lansbury’s been called up into the under 21’s squad. It did, however, take drop-outs from Jack Rodwell, Danny Welbeck and another (i forgot who now) for him to earn his call-up. About time he got that call at this level and i hope he takes his chance and makes himself a regular for them.

J, I also would like to know what you think about Vela at this stage. Your bread and butter is the young guns but you have always a good amount of info. on Vela. I know he is injured but it is rare for all information and future plans to be so quiet. In your opinion will he be here next year ( i think he will) but the year after I am not so sure. He has always impressed me in general but AW does not seem to rate him, or only as an after thought
    Thanks

The Sun reports that King Henri has been called up to the under 21s’ He’s my favourite youth player and he’ll go all the way. And I believe he’ll be more polished than Gerrard. All hail the King!

I agree 100% Frank Butcher. Jay Simpson isn’t my favourite young gun but nobody can deny that he’s earned at least a call-up so far this term.
