Bartley Open To Loan Move After Olympiacos Bow

Kyle Bartley admits there is a chance he may be leaving Arsenal in January with a loan move being mooted after completing 90 minutes  of Champions League football on his professional debut against Olympiacos last night.

The Reserve team captain, part of last season’s Under 18 double winning side, spoke to Arsenal TV Online shortly after the full-time whistle in Greece. The 18-year-old may consider himself a little unlucky that his rash, aggressive tackle from the back opened up space for Leonardo to slot home the winner – the only blot on his otherwise impressive copybook. Bartley, however, was just thankful for the opportunity.

“When I was 16 I moved from Bolton. It was a great move because I’ve improved as a player so much and the boss has given me a chance, and I thank him for that.”

Handfuls of managers up and down the country will no doubt have made checks on the likes of Thomas Cruise, Jack Wilshere and of course Kyle last night, and when quizzed on his goals for the future, the giant centre half admits he has many options open.

“I’m not sure [what’s next]. Maybe the manager wants me to go out on loan in January, or if he wants me to stay, I’m happy to do that. Whatever the manager wants.”

Arsenal have previously rejected loan offers from football league clubs but after showing he can cut it in the big time, maybe Arsène Wenger will reconsider. That said, with Johan Djourou’s season over and Phillipe Senderos angling for a move away, we could just be seeing more of this highly rated young gun.

He’s somebody I rate higher than the pretenders Senderos and Djourou. He’s a natural CB and has the meanness required to succeed in the EPL. Bartley and Ayling are the future Adams/Keown/Bould.

this would be a logical movie imo. He should go to a league1/championship club. Also believe that Wilshere needs a loan move.

dont mind afc, but wat exactly do u mean? Do u rate him as in his potential is more than them, if so, i can live with that, but if ur suggesting that at this point of tym hes better than both senderos n djourrou, i’m sry, but ur wrong.. Definitely..

Senderos and Djourou have had several chances but have not been able to cement a place in the team. Arsene should cut his loses on them and let them move on.

surely he means in terms of potential. he had a solid game against a not very attacking side it has to be said. think a loan move would be ideal for him at this point to one of the top championship clubs.
j do you believe havard has been showing enough to be an arsenal first teamer in the future?? really like the lad but i haven’t really been able to follow his progress closely.

Senderos has played his last game for Arsenal. I thought Djourou was looking like a very solid CB before he got injured, I think Wengers sees him as the replacement for Gallas

What we have at Arsenal is two quality centre half’s. senderos is not an option, djourou is out and silvesta is really short of pace with all due respect. so who can cover at the back if we pick up an injury!!! i have seen barrtly a few times and he is inexpirenced, however i would still pick him as my third choice right know. So he shouldn’t go out on loan.

If only mate, if only. Don’t hold your breath though.

This isn’t a dig at young Kyle but has anyone else noticed how obvious it is at times that he wasn’t schooled ‘the Arsenal way’. At times he looks so uncomfortable in possession and rarely takes more than one touch of the ball when under pressure, often clearing his lines. In a way, i like that, although sometimes he just clears it when he could take a touch and start an attack of our own.

i think bartley is a terrific player however i do agree a championship loan move could really help him progress. tj da good i think your talking nonsense mate. dont you think its time we had a big commanding no nonsense centre back? ive seen this kid plenty of times and he reminds me of a more commanding rio ferdinand.

juniorgun – Na, i think you’re talking nonsense mate. I know i’m right with what i say about Kyle. He’s an excellent talent and i agree with the Rio comparison although he’s not as technical and as composed as he was at that age – definitely more commanding, like you say, though. I love the fact that we have a no-nonsense beast of a defender like him coming through, God knows we need one and haven’t had one since Sol left. I’m just saying that he needs to improve a little on his technique and composure, that’s all. I love the kid and have high hopes for him.

In other news, Vela has signed a new contract.

Bartley is big and mean; requirements needed to succeed in the EPL. He can be as mean as Terry/Vidic/TV, attributes both Senderos and Djourou lacks. Note that Djourou was a midfielder and still lacks that CB mentality to face the Drogbas and Torres of this world.

Djourou will give a stiff competition when he returns from injury, he’ll be 23/24 then however, eventually I can see Bartley/Ayling/Miquel being the mainstay of our CB to be led by Vermalaen.

Nordveit is in the same class as Djourou, ball-playing CBs but not mean enough like Vermalen.

Why didn’t Wenger play Coquelin against Olympiacos? I think he’s the only player who can cover for Song when he goes to ACN. He’s risking upsetting this guy. . .look at what happened with Lassana Diarra. . .playing for Madrid and critical for them now. If you don’t give them chances, they’re likely to leave.

…..a word about silvester, credit to him for playing with these youngsters & being a guiding force on the pitch not just in last match but during carling cup aswell. He has been a true professional, hasn’t made too much noise about just been part of carling cup team & not been part of the first team.

    J. Sanderson – Is there any talk of us going back in for Adem Ljajic after Man Utd declined to sign him? There have been varying reports that he wasn’t signed due to his lack of progress or that he was having trouble obtaining a work permit. I know on November 9, 2008 there was a report on Young Guns about Arsenal being after him, but it had seemed as though we were beaten out. Now that he’s no longer going to Manure, are we still interested?

Good lord, what 18 year old center back has the mentality to go up against Drogba or Torres. Hell I havent seen a defender yet on our team that hasnt been abused by Drogba. That fact is, I believe we bring these center backs into our first team rotation way to quick. Centerback and goalkeeper is a position that you get better with experience and age. These players should go on loan at 19 to a championship level then 20 to 23 should be spent at a lower prem club or at a german club (if not English). Senderous’s career could have turned out deferent if his mistake like all centerbacks go through, didnt happen to be on stages like the champions league verse Liverpool.

That Adam Ljajic thing…I dont want to see another young attacking midfielder come in until we get Eden Hazard. How many times have we been close to signing a player that turns into one of the best in the world. Ronaldinho, Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo so I dont want to see us lose the next great.

No argument here if it came down to a choice between Hazard and Ljajic. The Belgian is light-years ahead and, I too believe, he’s going to be world-class. I was just inquiring about a past target that appears to be available.

if wenger is really interested he should act fast,if he dont need him now he could loan him back to lille,he could be long term replacement for rosicky, arshavin

yeah a lot of people slate silvestre but i think he’s playing well and is a very useful and important player in helping bring the young players through. you always need a few heads around like that who can just pass on some advice and his presence alone is that of a player who has won so much, so it must be reassuring for the boys. good on him.

Getting the Man Utd 7th choice centerback and making him our 3rd choice isnt the way to success in my eyes. Buy him to be an influents on our young players, thats ok, but to be playing Man Utd in the champions league semifinal with a player that was 7th choice at the team you are playing against, isnt exactly they way to win trophies tho.

By the way, mark down Belgium for a atleast a semi-finalist in the 2014 world cup. Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku, Moussa Dembele, Vermalaen, Steven Defour, Axel Witsel, Kompany, Fellaini, Jan Vertongen, Toby Alderweield, Van de Borre, Ritchie De Laet, Sebastian Pocognoli..etc. Most of these guys will be at major clubs and all in their prime.

I agree about Bartley TJ, he is strong, fit and commanding but lacks a little bit of technical ability.

That’s why I think Ayling is more the arsenal type

Ayling is definitely the more Arsenal type player but that’s because he’s been at Arsenal since he was a kid. I think Ayling and Bartley compliment eachother so well and that’s the main reason our under 18’s had so much success last year.
