Loanees – Lansbury Completes Watford Loan

Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium. You can read all the latest reports below.

In the Championship, Jay Simpson racked up another 90 minutes for QPR, but he couldn’t find the net as the R’s were crushed by Roy Keane’s Ipswich Town. Simpson struggled to get into the game as Jon Walters set the hosts on their way before a brace from Jonathan Stead sealed the win.

Elsewhere – Henri Lansbury’s loan spell came to an end with Watford with the Hornet’s in talks with the Gunners to get the deal extended. The out-of-contract midfielder is yet to agree fresh terms with Arsenal so would be eligible to speak to other clubs next week. On the pitch, he forced an out standing save from Dean Gerken as Watford drew 2-2 with Bristol City.

In League One, Gavin Hoyte played 90 minutes at right back for Brighton as they eased their relegation fears with a 5-2 win over Wycombe. Rhys Murphy started but was subbed off at half time for Brentford as they drew 1-1 with promotion chasing Charlton. Wojciech Szczesny missed out through injury.

Pedro Botelho and Havard Nordtveit are both enjoying the winter break, so were not in action.

Lansbury should come back to Arsenal at least for a short while, he could play the FA Cup match and we may need him in the first team in January if Denilson and Fabregas are out given that Song will be away.

Do you think there’s a chance arsenal will keep him back as extra cover while fabregas, song and I think even denilson are out?
From what I’ve seen hes a bit like ramsey in playing style in that he’s skillful playmaker but with a good engine and quite a tough tackler – but has he played the defensive role much before?

He can only talk to clubs from another country but he will be offered a new contract in the next few weeks.

According to the Watford manager, Henri is discussing a new contract with Arsenal, which has to happen first before they can discuss extending his loan. I doubt if Arsene is ready to let him go for no fee after we’ve been nurturing him since he was 9.

Yh he has played as defensive midfielder but he can play in most positions aprt from centre half. But hes arsenal through and through hes a north London kid as well unlike wilshere whos from Stevenage outside london and a west ham. Lansbury is a true gooner we must give hima chance

    A couple questions:

Is it likely that Lansbury will let his contract expire?
Will the club have to make a statement of intent by getting rid of the players in front of him that don’t actually match up (i.e. Randall)? (One has to feel for Randall if he reads Young Guns. He will undoubtably become a good Premiership player, like Sidwell, but he is stuck at a club between players with World Class potential.)
Did Howie always know English or did he learn it when he came here? It is better than some of the language you see in Young Guns comments!
Will Howie be likely to be involved in our first team next season, when Silvestre and Senderos leave? Or will he go back out on loan? Is he good enough yet to be 4th choice at a club with the highest ambitions?

I agree with john, it seems like lansbury is more of a true gooner rather than wilshere who said that he would love to go west ham on loan seeing as he grew up supporting west ham. Id be concerned about jack now if i was any other fan

Lansbury should earn his place by merit, not because he’s been with us for a long time. Are you sure he’s a ‘true’ gooner anyway? He was with Nowrich before us, and his favourite player is St Stevie G, who’s a first class prick. Anyway, as kids Fabregas supported Barca, Henry supported PSG, Bergkamp grew up in a Man U/Ajax supporting family and Wenger says he ‘especially liked’ Marseilles, but there’s a great deal of mutual love between them and the club. Arshavin supported Barca, And Aneke says he supports Chelsea, as does Ayling and of course Wilshere supports West Ham. Who cares?! It would be nice to see a boyhood Gooner make it, but he shouldn’t be given special rights because of it. Terry was a Man U fan, Solskjear was a Liverpool fan, Owen and Carragher were Everton fans, and Harrey Kewell, a boyhood Liverpool fan was terrible when he went to Anfield from Leeds. Oh, and by the way David Bentley was also supposed to be a ‘true’ gooner…

Nordveit speaks english more like a German would rather than a Scandinavian. Maybe it’s just because he has been trying to speak German recently and is around German speaking people a lot. He is such a level headed young man. I hope he returns in the summer as a back-up for both the CB and DM positions. He is sure to start in all of the CC matches and could notch up quite a few minutes in the EPL/CL as well. What is up with the interviewer though? Maybe his English is bad but at least his questions were terrible.

Lansbury should be loaned out again. He has nothing to do here yet with Ramsey and Merida ahead of him but he can become a great player and even make it here. I think RB would be a position he might do well in. If he returns next season then he could be third choice RB (Traore is third choice LB and has played a fair bit) and also a back-up for the two forward midfield roles.

Why the hell would we be worried about Wilshere? Footballer in supporting club other than the one he is at shocker. How many, in the 1000s in the game, do you think are actually at the club they grew up supporting? Possibly the most recognised 1 man 1 club player of our time- Raul- grew up an Athletico fan and went to the other Madrid’s academy. How’d that turn out for Real?

I think Lansbury would benefit from finishing this season at Watford and then next season maybe join a premier league side for a year. His time spent in league 1 and the championship will have taught him A LOT about the physical side of the game as well as mental preparation.
A year for a team like Birmingham or Sunderland (wenger and bruce have a good relationship) will allow him to adapt to the pace of the league.
Then we will see if he has a future here, and still will only be 20

Henri is too good to let him leave. Sign up him for 3 years and let him develope here at Arsenal in FA Cup in case of injuries and Song going to Cup of Nations or let him stay at Watford where he’ll play week-in week-out so at the start of the new season we’ve in some case proven player.

John, you are a mug. Firstly for stooping so low as to back your claims up with the classic ‘Oh yeah we’re good mates’ rubbish. How old are you? 10? Secondly because why the hell would Wilshere leave us in the next 3-4 seasons?! This isn’t Championship Manager.

Forget who the player supports/supported as it means nothing.
For instance Tony Adams was a West Ham fan, Paul Merson supported Chelsea, Micky Thomas was a spud, etc etc.

Jack Wilshere would leave if he doesnt get first team football even wenger said it himself and to be honest i cant see him getting first team football any time soon. I cant see Wilshere breaking through until hes 19/20 next season he wont be in the first team dont be deluded if u think so

Wilshere isn’t good enough yet to be in the first team but I can see him being there next year. Look at Merida. He was in the reserves last year and now he is part of the first squad. I can see him playing a bit more than Merida but not a lot more. It depends who we keep as well. No sense in getting all upset over it people lol. I don’t know if we know him well enough to question his loyalty…at least I certainly don’t. And it’s fine if he wants to go on loan. It doesn’t mean he isn’t loyal or doesn’t like Arsenal. Even if he wants to go to West Ham on loan, that’s fine too. If they aren’t relegated they are a very big club and it would be good for him. Either way I don’t see him doing anything other than improving like he has been doing.

JW has a small chance of going to the World Cup. He isn’t going to get much of a look-in at Arsenal this season which would kill off any small chance he may have to go along to SA. Also, he isn’t playing nowhere near enough football at this moment in time and Wenger knows he isn’t quite ready to play regular football for Arsenal right now so is entertaining the idea of letting him go out on loan – to the right type of club. I get the feeling Jack isn’t too fond of the idea of going to Burnley so a club like West Ham would be perfect for him (they also play good football) as he’s better than most of the shit they had on display the other day against the Spuds and thery’re only round the corner. They also have good training facilities and a good coaching set-up. It’s a win-win situation as long as Zola can play him regularly. It doesn’t mean he would all of a sudden want to go to them on a permanent basis. It’s downright stupid to think that.

Geez…yeah holly crap, we may not have to wait long to see Jack feature in a major competition…he might not start but still. Here we are all talking about him going on loan while right now Arsenal could really use him to cover..hahaha. Even though Cesc is injured it is a very good opportunity for Ramsey, Wilshere and maybe Merida?? It’s kind of exciting although i hope we get some first team players back from being hurt. Cool!!

John, you’ll need to show me that Wenger quote for me to believe it. Of course he’ll leave if he isn’t a regular by the age of 22/23, but he seems like a grounded lad and with all the hype around him the pressure he’d have by moving would be immense. I’m 100% sure he’ll have the sense to stay – it would be frankly rediculous if he didn’t, especially given the promising future of the team. Football isn’t as black and white as you make it out to be.

How exactly do you “notice” if someone is gay? Unless someone is going around shouting it (or doing something equally as blatent) it’s very hard to tell. Doesn’t really make a difference anyway, gay or not – he’ll still be a good football player.
