Video – Arsenal's Botelho Bags First Professional Goal

Pedro Botelho scored his first professional goal on Sunday evening as he bagged a late winner for loan club Celta Vigo in their 2-1 win over Girona. The Brazilian, who celebrates his 20th birthday next week, will return to Arsenal in the summer.

Roberto Lago put Celta in front with an early penalty against the Catalan outfit before Jordi Matamala Muntadas levelled the scores. Substitute Botelho then won the game from a corner as he turned home beyond Albert Jorquera from David Català’s knock down. Girona missed a late penalty and Celta Vigo claimed an important three points.

You can watch full highlights of the game below, with Pedro’s goal timed at 5:15. The full Loanees report is available Here.

Hi J. Thanks for letting us know about Botelho. Do you think he has a realistic chance of playing in the first team? He seems quite talented though.

No problems. Yeah of course he has a real chance. I’m not sure where he’s going to play in the team though, maybe left midfield of the three, I really don’t know.

Certainly a talented young man, we’ll have to wait and see though.

I think hes supremely talented i think hes a better player than Angel Di mari personally. Hes got pace to burn but his dribbling is brilliant we really do need a clever winger like him hes like arjen robben

Definitely not as good as Di Maria.

But he’s surprisingly graceful and skilful for such a tall bloke. And he’s fast as well, yet again, surprising given his stature. And we certainly could do with some more height in our team.

Any one get the feeling that this winter striker we sign could be a certain Adriano. Wenger has ruled out almost every other striker and said it is hard to find a world class striker for free in january. Adriano led the Brazilian league in scoring and we all know how good he could be and he is only at Flamego on a short term deal.

won’t happen. we all know arsene likes the ‘nice lads’ and adriano certainly doesn’t fall under thas category. too many attitudinal problems.
    it’s a worthwhile thought tho.

Adriano suffered from severe depression while at intermilan because he father passed away. You cant call the “attidunal.” He looks to be better now and I would not be that suprised…I even hope he is the one we sign because he truly has the tools to be a world class striker and who better to get it out of him than Wenger.

Plus was Van Persie a “nice lad”? Thierry Henry wasnt exactly a saint in the locker room. William Gallas didnt come to Arsenal on the best of terms. (skipping out on chelsea’s preseason tour in America.

Good point but Billy and Thierry are French so that kinda makes AW look past that. As for RVP, he was a very special talent. They all knew it in Holland. He had a stinking attitude but he had immense potential. His injury problems over the years have taken something away from him. He’s still a great player but he would have and should have been a better one at this moment in time.

Considering my non-arsenal supporting mates still call RVP ‘the Rapist’, I’ll guess it was his footballing ability that Wenger picked up on.. Somehow I don’t think Le Boss is going to go out and spend x Million quid for a striker with a limited shelf life, probably someone around 25-26 max or approaching their peak.. or someone no-one has heard of.. Whats Goran pandev at these days anyway?
