Video – Nordtveit On Bundesliga Experience

Håvard Nordtveit is now half way through his loan spell with German outfit FC Nürnberg, and despite the precarious position of his latest loan outfit, the centre back is gaining experience by the minute.

Speaking to Nürnberg’s Official TV channel just before the winter break, Nordtveit spoke about the differences between Premier League football and life in the Bundesliga, along with a whole manner of other issues connected to his adaption to life in Germany. He gave the interview in English and you can watch it below.

    Thanks for the link.
Do you think theres any chance we might recall him seeing as song will be missing for a while, and we have some other injuries in midfield?

Good interview. I hope he is given a real chance at Arsenal when he returns. He should be battling Djourou for the 3rd choice centre back spot next season.

JS in your opinion whos going to be a better defender simon Kjaer or Nordvteit?

I really like kjaer hes a very physical 20 hes going to be awesome i think i just think nordvteit lacks that physicality which could take him another 2-3 years to develop

I think it’s hard to compare Simon Kjaer and Nordtveit because they’re quite different. Both are ball playing centre backs but Nordtveit has been a holding midfielder for most of the season, so it’s been impossible to see how they rate up. I must say that I think Kjaer is a fine talent, but certainly very over hyped.

james hinde – why? so I can add to the speculation? speculation doesn’t help anybody.

Jay, what do you think of Nordtveit chances to challenge for that 3rd CB spot next season?

Djourou wasn’t himself last season, and has been gone all he way until now, its like he is forgotten. There is no way he havn’t gone backwards during this spell!

Good sign that the Nuremberg fans like him (I read their comments) and wish there was a chance they could buy him.

I think it would be very difficult for him to come back here as a centre back and fight for a position, because he’s been playing as a holding midfielder all season. So I’m not sure, he’s certainly talented, but I think the boss has eyes on him being a back up for Alex Song.

JS can we recall him in Jan? Havard just isnt physical enough which is a shame atm. But in midfield he could be pretty impressive

JS do u have an y inside info whoa arsenal are going for in the Jan window?

What do u think of pierre gignac? I havent seen him play whats he like in open play? Can he dribble? hold the ball up? etc

Gignac is very good. Great technique when striking the ball, excellent at holding the ball up and also inteligently peels off his marker to find space in and around the box. However, he’s a bit overweight and is known to be a difficult character, having had several altercations with the Toulouse management, and I don’t think we need that kind of disruptive character at our club, having experienced problems with Thierry and Adebayor within our current squad for similar reasons. Coping with the tight midfields we now see in the Premier League may take him some getting used to, and the speed of interplay of which he is capable is questionable. He’s talented but I think he’d be too expensive to justify taking such a large gamble on.

I’ve never seen Havard play but i’ve seen Kjaer play 4 or 5 times because I’m stuck with a stupid latin television network hahaha. Na it’s actually kinda fun to watch the other leagues but anyway, I was really impressed the first time I saw him but he’s slowing down a bit now. And he isn’t overly physical either so it’s not like he’s waayyy ahead their. He is bigger and looks stronger than Havard but he really is still developing that part of the game as well I think. It’d be nice if Havard could develop into a backup to Alex Song. Song’s kinda unique so it’d be nice to have genuine cover for him.
