Arsène Wenger has confirmed that Burnley manager Owen Coyle did ask about the availability of Jack Wilshere ahead of the January transfer window. The Frenchman also admitted he would be keen to send the prospect to Turf Moor.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Hull City, Wenger was quizzed about Coyle’s comments that he had asked about Wilshere in the tunnel before kick off. The Arsenal boss shied away from his usual closed approach and revealed all.
“Yes [Coyle asked about Jack] and I said it is possible, as long as he plays. Burnley is a very good club, they play good football. First of all we need to ask Jack to want to go there, and we need some assurances from them that he will play. I like the idea, but we are a bit short at the moment – Jack has been in nearly every squad this year.”
Newcastle, West Brom and Celtic have all had tentative enquiries with the Gunners but it appears the club have put the ball firmly into Burnley’s court, with them needing to firm up their interest with an offer.

Seems like the right club for him in my opinion, as he rightly said, the kind of football they play would help his development.
I’d be all for it. He’s not ready for PL action in an Arsenal shirt yet, but he’s probably good enough for Burnley’s team!
Make the offer Owen. He’ might keep you up :D
This would be a fantastic move for wilshere as burnley try to mirror the “total football” arsenal play.

This couldn’t be more perfect.
1) Burnley play great football.
2) They play effectively the samne system as us.
3) Meaning Jack could play behind striker or wide cutting in wither side depending on personnel in 1st team.
4) Owen Coyle is a good manager who he could learn from too.
5) With Bikey and Alexander behind him in DM roles he would be more free to do damage and show his exploits.
6) he can play in EPL games at a very early age for half a season.
7) It won’t be an easy ride like at Arsenal where he would be comfortable. Burnley still have to fight to stay in division so he’ll have to mature a lot quicker as well as developing his game.
Really hope it happens. Though we have tons of injuries ourselves, AW has never put him straight in cos of his inexperience. This will do him world of good for future. Also don’t want him getting too big for his boots and he needs to play tougher games than CC.
If it is good him and the club then do it but always remember never cut your nose dispiteyour face. With RVP out he could possibly step in. he hasn’t done much yet. What will the Gunners get in exchange? http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/
He should allowed to go to a prem club as long as he will play.
Not sure he would play for burnley there wingers didnt look that bad eagles impressed.
Hard to say ‘as long as he plays’ cos as has been noted he is still very inexperienced, and wont be able to play a full 2nd half of the season in a relegation battle, but certainly to get 5+ starts and 5 off the bench would be great for his development
@ JohhnyThai, Wilshere isnt seem a winger in the long run, thus if goes on loan, then he will probably play just behind the striker where his dribbling, passing & vision will be very effective.
Supergunner, if he could get to play there already now that would be an exciting reason to follow Burnley for Gooners.
Dan, I agree completely with the talents and football of Coyle. Amazing talent as manager, and how he has managed what he has…breathtaking. Glad that it can still be clubs like Burnley in the Premier, not just newly rich Arabs. Clubs like that has always been special to the culture and soul of English football…look at why the FA Cup for example is so special. I remember Chesterfield back in the days, who did not cheer for them?
dont send him anywhere, i do not trust burnley they will break him.
Burnley play football the right way so a loan move there untill the end of the season would be a very good move for Jack Wilshere
never cut your nose dispiteyour face???? think you got that a bit wrong there eh bobby?
Lol you know what he was trying to say..
I’m not in favour of this. He was playing Denilson when he came at 18 so why not Jack? If he didn’t send Denilson and Senderos on loan why does he want to send Jack away? He should play Jack, he won’t be worse than Eboue and Walcott.
he did send senderos on loan

But Jack Wilshere has said he wants to go on loan, also even though he is still only 17 years old, i think he is far to good for reserve team football. Because you take John Bostock as an example he is doing great at Brentford since he has joined them on loan from Tottenham Hotspurs, and if Jack Wilshere goes to Burnley it will make him a better player playing proper football, instead of playing for the reserves, because young football players can and do tend to go a bit stale if they play to much of that, like Mark Randell has IMO.

Did he send Senderos on loan before age 22? Senderos was sent away because he wanted to offload him. He was on loan with an option to sell. He’s back because he wasn’t good enough for Milan. Is another money wasted on a foreigner found latere to be a mistake.
He could’ve maintained Upson. Only hope that Bartley and Ayling won’t be sold and another crap foreigner brought in.
lol.. I find d last comment quite hilarious.. Dont bring another crap foreigner in, submitted by “Henry’s foot”.. Lol.. I wouldnt mind them being sold if we get a foreigner like henry..
The argument seems to be: Don’t buy young foreign footballers unless you can look into the future and know they’re going to end up being quality first-teamers. The percentage of young players that make it to the first team is very low (probably lower for all other EPL clubs) and our success rate with young foreign players is probably better than with domestic ones. So, therefore, we should stop acquiring non-British youngsters.
