Best Wishes To Aaron Ramsey

Our best wishes go out to Aaron Ramsey, who is currently in hospital following a horrible challenge by Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross this evening. The Welsh teenager has made significant inroads in the Arsenal first-team recently but he was victim to a poor challenge by Shawcross, who was sent off.

Ramsey appears to have broken leg and ankle, with TV cameras refusing to show replays of the incident which clearly marred the game. Thomas Vermaelen and Captain Cesc Fabregas were on the verge of tears as the talented Welshman left the pitch straight onto a stretcher.

We wish Aaron all the best.

Update – Picture of the horrible injury VIEW WITH CAUTION – Here.

Just gutted over this. It didn’t appear to be a bad challenge at first…nothing like when Eduardo got broken in two. But good grief! Just after the play they showed Aaron on the pitch and his leg looked every bit as bad as Eduardo’s. It’s beyond belief to have these things keep happening to us.

Really hope Ramsey will come through this OK.

Seriously the FA needs to do something, and not just a 3-match ban. That stoke guy may looked innocent but when u committed an crime, it’s a crime and needs to be dealt with accordingly. It’s a crime that would probably end a future of a potential great player, who i think can form the backbone of an amazing midfield with Cesc, Diaby & Song in many years to come.

2 years ago we crumpled after Eduardo’s injury and our title dreams were gone too. NOW, with this win we can believe we WILL DO IT AND BRING THE TITLE BACK TO EMIRATES.

I knew it was bad as soon as I saw it. I haven’t seen any replays of the tackle so I can’t really make a udgement on it. I watched the match over the internet so the reception isn’t as good as it would be on tv. If it wasn’t a bad tackle (studs raised) then my sympathy goes out to Shawcross as well. But if his leg was raised, then he knew the possible ramifications if contact would happen to occur between Ramsey and himself. I don’t care if he cried. If he raised his leg, then he deserves to be banned for the rest of the season. Obvioulsy, it is possible to slide tackle and not injure someone. Look at Vermaelen, Campbell etc. It really scares me. The mentality of people and the disregard for other’s well being these days is appauling in so many sports these days. I live in Canada and the same thing is happening concerning hits to an oppostion players’ head. There are some things that you just cannot risk doing, because the consequences are too severe. If it was a clean tackle, then Shawcross shouldn’t blame hhimself for what occurd. If it wasn’t, then he should be forced to face the consequences.

      Milo, truly agree with you.

I believe in the recent history of premier league there were only twice a tackle resulting to a red card wasn’t shown at all. You’d know which was the first one. And that was how bad this one was.

And did u all realize? Eboue was the one that stayed with Ramsey the longest before he was stretched off. That shows how this guy care for his team-mates.

Speedy recovery to Rambo, if Eduardo can come back, U CAN TOO!

There was malice in the tackle, but there wasn’t.

A trend had been set in the game for such aggressive challenges. That challenge wasn’t meant to break his leg, but it was meant to hurt him and let him know he was there. Crazy and the FA won’t do anything. I think we should refuse to play until something is done about this.

Whilst Shawcross has been a good player this season it is such a shame that he is playing for a team that has an ethos of aggression that is embedded from their manager and coaching. It is disgusting that teams such as Sunderland, Bolton, Birmingham & Stoke that rely on agression masked in the name of “commitment to the cause” are getting away with this kind of game. Rambo has been a superb player this season and has made huge strides. It disgusts me that this season and potentiall most of next season has been robbed from him. The FA need to take a strong stand here and i agree with shamaster regarding matching the punishment that was given to Pepe.

We get kicked and fouled and pushed and we complain and nobody says anything, we get accused of being moaners. It’s like it takes a broken leg before people actually say something. Eduardo has never been the same since he got injured. You are basically ending somebodys career when you make a tackle like that.

I’ve watched the incident back in slow motion and its not a malicious tackle in the sense that Shawcross isn’t attempting to do Ramsey, but it is totally wreckless. There’s no stamp or studs up or anything but after losing control of the ball, Shawcross has taken a wild, full-force swipe at Ramsey. Its not malicious, but it is totally negligent and fully deserving of a red card at at least a 3-match ban.

Get well soon Aaron. Ay least the team rallied and won the game so as not to compound Ramsey’s misery. Fortunately, he’s young and should make a full recovery. A Premier League medal might help his spirits during his recovery.

I’m disgusted, of how other teams play football against arsenal. You cannot accuse Arsenal of being soft, and hence lost the football game. These teams which are unable to play football against arsenal resort to aggressive takles, which have resulted various injuries and now two broken legs.

I just hope the ligaments in his knee and ankle are not damaged. What really hurt Eduardo was that he had a dislocated ankle as well as breaking the fibula and tibia. If it’s “only” the leg then he could be back in action soon after the start of next season. His knee looked okay but it was hard to tell with his ankle. At least it’s not nearly as bad as Eduardo’s injury.

Here is for a speedy recovery for Ramsey and hopefully Diaby is back before next weekend. Aaron is the lad and he will come back even stronger.

AR should have had a penalty. the ref was looking right at him when he was mugged. this ref needs to also be reviewed as this game was not a game it was a clash… it was overly physical and you can tell it took arsenal a little while to even get going.

I cringe when we play these mid table teams. they are overly physical and do not have the talent or strategies to deal with the top sides.

shawcross looked remorseful…. he will be banned im sure but the issue is large than this incident. its a history of overtly rough play against arsenal. AFC Needs to make formal complaint to the EPL.

what hurts though is that Aaron was such a good young kid. ALways tried hard and played clean and wanted his chances in the team. he plays with heart and was fearless with that 50/50 ball. I dare say other arsenal players would have jumped very fast in a sitiuation like that. This kids gut and determination need to insipire the rest of the team. do it for Aaron….

Basically this is wahta many people have been saying on and on for so long. Because Arsenal play the beautiful game and because we don’t play too physical, teams like Stroke, Hull and the likes are always coming at us with these kind of tackles.

But overall I think that this particular referee is to blame too. When he should have pulled up his catrd, he did not. He lost control of this game and failed to be stern and to show the Stroke City players that if they were going to be playing hardball, he would stand toe to toe with them. Look at the many tackles he let go, the penalties that should have been. Bentner was pushes aside in the penalty are and the ref just let it go maybe because he felt we already had one penalty.

Rosnsky suffered a long term injury because of these same tactics, then Eduardo and now the young Ramsey. For Showcross if it was not intentional it is unfortunate but I think for the sake of other players a lesson must be learnt and a message must be sent. Good of arsenal to win it for Ramsey. I hope for the same reason they go on to win the league.

As for Stroke City, now they have got what they have always wanted. Arsene Wenger has been saying all along that such tactics in football should not be allowed to go on. Now is the time for people to listen to him and bring this kind of unfair play to an end. People might say it was unfortunate and that Showcross did not intend to to that. But the question is this, why is it always Arsenal? Will Stroke City continue to play such rough tactics? I hope now they will change their minds.

Shawcross is a disgrace, I doubt he set out to break Ramsays leg but he was at it all game. Fuckin clogger that’s what he is. Compared to Arsenal Stoke havn’t a clue what football is. I really hope the young fellas injury isn’t carreer threatening. What a waste that would be. Get better soon Aaron.

Ramsey was steadily becoming one of the players I really admire. He chose beauty over superficiality by signing for us, he works tirelessly for those around him, he’s often involved in Arsenal charity work and he seems to have a steady, intelligent head on him. All that and he’s a cracking player!

I hope he recovers quickly and his career goes on to be successful, beautiful, enjoyable and lucrative. J, if you hear of an official place to send on our wishes to the man himself (such a thing was put online post-Eduardo, if I remember corrective), please put it on young guns.

Showcross is Welsh so I doubt that there was an malicious intent in the tackle, but it was horrible nonetheless. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Mr. Ramsey!

He’s technically Welsh, but not really. He’s from Chester which is on the border of Wales. He was born on the otherside of the border, but grew up in Chester which is in England.

wishing aaron a speedy recovery. The injury is serious though. gooners don’t take it on shawcross. that is football. I read a comment from other blogs saying that arsenal are being lucky this season. This is utter bullshit… look at the injury setbacks we are suffering and you will have the answer. TO ALL ARSENAL PLAYERS; do play for ramsey also and go and get the premiership. WE GOONERS ARE ALL BEHIND YOU.

It’s no suprise he’s it cause if you’re an english player you never make bad fouls just commited tackles. I dont think it was as bad as taylor’s but it so unnecessary. If shawcross was a european player he would be bashed left right and centre by everyone. Its ridiculous that shawcross now has a chance to play for his country in the world cup and rammsey face’s a year out of football. I hate stoke and everything they stand for. Crap football by crap players who just go round kicking people. this just shows why these team shouldn’t be in the premier league.

Wish you a speedy recovery Rambo. We, the Gunners, will be with you every step of the way to your road to recovery.
The FA really needs to take another look at the “physical game” that teams play especially against Arsenal. How many players have to sacrifice their careers before they finally act?

the deed has been done but i strongly believe such a player should suffer more that just a RED card. When you brake a fellow players leg no matter how innocent you appear such player should be out till the other player recovers. If it meant the player will never play again then such players career too must end by all standards. its football for GODS sake not warfare. We must put an end to just 3 match ban. we all must cry out against this animalistic approach to football. GET WELL ARON you will be back for GOOOOOOD. GET WELL boy.

Young guns pass on the word we have to stop this now
Every gooner around England and abroad has to make the FA realize that enough is enough

Every gooner with a blog has to criticize the FA because its because of their rules that this has happended to us year after year

use this website to complain to the FA
    http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/WhoWeAre/ContactUs.aspx
    another one for the FA
    http://www.thefa.com/feedback/

this is for the premier league
    info@premierleague.com.

I know you must be thinking that we can do much but we have a chance to finally stop this there are around 50 million arsenal fans world wide and its only 1% of them do somthing about it then we can atleast make the FA sit up and think about it

this is kind of what I wrote to them
    FA
I know we like to be know as the physical league but this is getting out of hand
What’s the point of playing this way if players don’t want to play the ball but the players ?

Everytime I speak with my friends about football who live in countries like Spain and France they say that only the 4-5 clubs in clubs in England know how to play football and its true, the teams who do want to play Football, pure football are muscled off the ball or are struck down
This can’t be the way forward, can it ?

Arsenal who play the best football in England have been struck by this kind of tackles three time in five years how can we allow this kind of thing to go on?
Forget about the club and think about the players what about them ? we currently suffer from the biggest injury list of all the leagues and most of them are caused by this kind of horrific tackle.

You have to stop this and implement laws to make these kind of tackles no existent otherwise sooner or later they will destroy a players career and is that ever justifiable ?
Please I wish you would do something about this, we have been called the non football league far too long lets make this country play better football than Brazil
