Best Wishes To Aaron Ramsey

Our best wishes go out to Aaron Ramsey, who is currently in hospital following a horrible challenge by Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross this evening. The Welsh teenager has made significant inroads in the Arsenal first-team recently but he was victim to a poor challenge by Shawcross, who was sent off.

Ramsey appears to have broken leg and ankle, with TV cameras refusing to show replays of the incident which clearly marred the game. Thomas Vermaelen and Captain Cesc Fabregas were on the verge of tears as the talented Welshman left the pitch straight onto a stretcher.

We wish Aaron all the best.

Update – Picture of the horrible injury VIEW WITH CAUTION – Here.

“Nobody is set to hurt!!” are there any better fools than these commenter ?
Yeah agree, nobody comes out with an intention to break bones but the way teams kick Arsenal, push from behind when on the ball, catch legs when we are running and F***ing their game out; such incidences are bound to happen.
Intentions are never to kill people but if you intend to hit them everyday, a day is bound to come when someone will die.
How come it happen to one team only?
Diaby gets broken leg, Walcott’s hand pops out of his joint, dudu gets cracked, Clichy gets bombed by Davis, Fabregas gets some 7-8 fouls on him in Each match and now Rambo is almost killed? How can it happen to one team only???
If FA/EPL still has brains left..please think!!!

Many of us are justifiably angry at what happened. I just saw the replay and a picture on BBC about the incident and you can see Glenn Whalen the first one there trying to give aide to Aaron. Hats off to you Whalen… I just wanted to acknowledge that…. just bc there are some thugs on a team does not mean all of them are….

Young guns pass on the word we have to stop this now
Every gooner around England and abroad has to make the FA realize that enough is enough

Every gooner with a blog has to criticize the FA because its because of their rules that this has happended to us year after year

use this website to complain to the FA
http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/WhoWeAre/ContactUs.aspx
another one for the FA
http://www.thefa.com/feedback/

this is for the premier league
info@premierleague.com.

I know you must be thinking that we can do much but we have a chance to finally stop this there are around 50 million arsenal fans world wide and its only 1% of them do somthing about it then we can atleast make the FA sit up and think about it

this is kind of what I wrote to them
FA
I know we like to be know as the physical league but this is getting out of hand
What’s the point of playing this way if players don’t want to play the ball but the players ?

Everytime I speak with my friends about football who live in countries like Spain and France they say that only the 4-5 clubs in clubs in England know how to play football and its true, the teams who do want to play Football, pure football are muscled off the ball or are struck down
This can’t be the way forward, can it ?

Arsenal who play the best football in England have been struck by this kind of tackles three time in five years how can we allow this kind of thing to go on?
Forget about the club and think about the players what about them ? we currently suffer from the biggest injury list of all the leagues and most of them are caused by this kind of horrific tackle.

You have to stop this and implement laws to make these kind of tackles no existent otherwise sooner or later they will destroy a players career and is that ever justifiable ?
Please I wish you would do something about this, we have been called the non football league far too long lets make this country play better football than Brazil

It is strange how the human mind is designed. For a couple of days ago something much much worse happend in my family. But altough when I´m watching the game to get away from it all, and this happens to Ramsey- I find myself in the same kind of chock and denial as I did just a few days ago. And the girlfriend gets worried because I´m never quiet for more then a minute watching Arsenal play.I and I know the rest of Swedens gooners hope a speedy recovery for Ramsey and wishes him all the best during this tough period he has to go through.
For some reason this win once again really got me beliving that this could be Arsenals year, I feelt like this a couple of times this season, when it really has shown that the team has grown up. I feard this game would end with a loss and the season would become a fight for 4th place. That the team would react as they did when the same happend to Eduardo. Still won/drawn/lost this game really didn´t matter to me. My thoughts was and still is with Ramsey.
The big! Difference between this and Eduaro´s is the Stoke and Birninghams players, Shawcross and Taylor reactions. Stokes players looked as in chock as Arsenals, Shawcross more or less left with tears, while Birninghams complaines about the Redcard and Taylor claimed he got the ball. I do feel with Shawcross, nobody wants to serious hurt anorther player and with the lack of replays, surley the studs was up, but I truly belive he was after the ball, thought he would get it first. I´m not beeing the devils advocate here….This kind of play doesen´t belong on a fotball field, especially not where both the players and reeferes get paid to do what they love. I´ve seen both players and goalkeepers get injured by similour actions when I played as a amateur in Sweden in the low low low low low leagues. ( Even myself) WOW this got long. But the core of it all, my thoughts are with you Aaron, and to some degree even Shawcross. If you will crucify me for it.
Ps. Great blog.

Stoke City is actually the perfect example of why I am starting to like the English league less and less. I was already irritated, how every throwin, I have to wait and watch Delap jog over and wipe the ball of for 20 minutes. Then all they do is play a bunker defence and foul. This league can not have players like Lionel Messi because the would get murdered by these defenders. There is a reason why in England, you have to have a huge squad.

“Wenger says its a fractured leg so I think its not as bad as Eduardo’s but still he looked like the best player in that game and for this to happen to him is not just sad but almost makes me hate english football.”

There can be the difference between a fractured and broken leg, as I understand it a fracture is more of a crack than a full break (I’m no doctor though, so might be very wrong), whatever it is, fracture is generally less serious than a break (again, I’m no doctor). However, I’m pretty sure Wenger just used the word fracture to indicate that there was bone damage (i.e. a break). I suspect you hadn’t seen replays or photos of the injury when you made that comment. Having seen video replays and still photos, unfortunately, it is clear the injury appears just as severe and horrific as the one that Eduardo suffered. Ramsey’s foot/leg was hanging from where it had broken.

This was eerily reminiscent of Eduardo’s injury and hopefully something will be done and tougher punishment brought in. Arsenal used to be condemned for there bad disciplinary record under Wenger, he has since turned things around and we consistently have one of the best records in the league, currently we are second behind Fulham and impressively we are the only team not to have received a red card in the league this season. What is our reward for playing football as opposed to hacking opponents? Three broken legs in four years! We play the nicest football in the league and do it without having to resort to injuring other teams players. The tiresome, old chant of “same old Arsenal, always cheating” is clearly and obviously very much out of date and applies more aptly to pretty much every other team in the league.

In order for this league to survive at the very top it needs to offer greater protection to the better, skilful players who are, after all, playing the game not fouling (would you rather see potentially career ending fouls week in, week out or the skills of players like Fabregas and others). If the most skilful players keep getting hacked out of the game then they will not stay in the league, and who would blame them. The league should remain physical but not by cheating and fouling. The culprits of these fouls should receive heavy punishment. Another possible idea would be that a team who feels hard done by and feels there team has experienced attempts to kick and foul them out of a game can lodge a complaint. If it is felt, after a post-match analysis of the game, that a team, or a player in that team, has received unfair treatment at the hands of the other team then heavy fines and even point deductions could be imposed. Equally, if there was found to be no problem then there should have to be costs for wrongful accusations. There would obviously have to be an acceptable amount of fouling allowed, it would be impossible to completely eradicate it, penalties only apply if it is deemed unacceptable. This rule would obviously need tweaks and changes, I have only just considered it myself, but something of this kind would be beneficial to the league in protecting it’s top players and reduce the amount of, what is ultimately, cheating so can’t be that bad a thing. As long as there are measures to prevent it being abused (i.e. fines for wrongful accusation) then I can’t see it being a bad thing. There are other sports that one can watch for brutality, football shouldn’t be one of them.

Hey Jonathan, I’m from St. Kitts too!!:D I posted a huge comment before, so I don’t want to really post another long thing. After giving the Ramsey incident some thought, I think he can recover from this without too many complications. He is a natural footballer and he doesn’t rely on pace because he is a midfield player. Although his injury is similar to Eduardo’s his postition and the type of player he is will create a different outcome than what occured with Eduardo. He doesn’t rely on an inate ability to finish either, unlike Edu. The only thing he might lose is his first touch, and a bit of his passing range. But he can get that back. The psycological healing is a different matter though. He will be in the middle of things a lot more than eduardo is, given the fact that he plays through the middle. All we can do is sit back and encourage him. He is gutsy and he can do this no problem.

Those lousy guys at Fifa and Uefa won’t spend time looking at the bad precedence this clubs are setting. Putting the flourishing and bright football dream of an immensely talented 19 year old like Aaron is heartbreaking. But i pray all Gunners 2 please forgive Ryan, he might be a hard and physical defender but he is not a thug nor an animal. I’ve seen him play over the years and at 22 i think he has i bright sound future in the game. I would not mind him in an Arsenal jersey. He like Aaron must play again!. I think its time for the press in general and the Arsenal websites to highlight the disgust at the way our team is treated. The commentators from BBC etc and a list of others to long to name are a disgrace.
This old school mentality the physical side of the british game is a joke and not acceptable its not physical either its downright stupid the FA simply refuse to move forward and stamp out the kind of tackles that are going to ruin players carrers.
They will not even increase the punishment for such tackles as a deterent.

Then again they had to wait for an Italian to decide that John Terry wasnt fit to lead our country they would have said Ashley coles behaviour is acceptable also and even thought Graham Poll was a fine referee after his cock up giving 3 yellows to a player in a world cup.

If no one puts pressure on them and they arent forced to change by public opinion we will continue to have poor refing of matches lack of protection for players and an image thats well just laughable as a nation at this stage.

I Hope Ramsey makes a ful recovery and in time gets to live his dream of playing for Arsenal again on a regular basis he will be missed.

I cant seem to fully access the fa link given above.
In any case, may someone, on my behalf, send them my message below;

To have your career robbed from you at 19 years old is too brutal.
This year and 2 before this have culminated in various injuries to the Arsenal camp.
Not too say that it is only Arsenal that has fallen prey to potentially career ending injuries and injustices.
That in itself is a black spot.
How many broken legs, knees and ankles would it take to enforce a law against the extreme physical and brutal football on display by some teams?
The media then aids such by branding them ‘physical teams that don’t play football.’
last time i checked, in all due respect, this was the FOOTBALL association and it is mandatory to deal with this vice immediately.
We cannot nip it in the bud anymore and so what needs to be done is to stop the rot!

I feel so sad about Ramsey, he was our most promising youngster, a future leader of the team.Couldn’t celebrate the win, did not want to go out last night. This cannot be happening to my Arsenal again!!
The injury brought back memories of Eduardo’s injury and how we lost the league back then. I just want the lads to do it for Aaron this time and go all the way. The wait is over. We, the traumatized arsenal fans deserve it.

Wake up guys. As soon as this team is doing well, then we are bombarded by negative press, our star players are suddenly linked with the top clubs abroad, our manager is a whiner and our players are soft . People are brainwashed into thinking that we are a selling club thus why should a small club win anything, the referees cannot give a penalty to this legion of foreigners and we get abuse in every single ground. On top of that I can name a club that never gets negative press and has got a bunch of friendly ties like managers or thug players around the league who are desperate to stop us. This is war!

P.S : 1) I wonder what would have happened if the referee gave that penalty to Ramsey. Should Arsenal have scored and get the lead I am convinced this post would have never existed. Damn you Peter Walton, I hope you get castrated while sleeping.
2) The fact that Shawcross is portrayed like the good guy and the real victim in this story is in itself sickening. The headlines today are more about how poor Shawcross was unlucky and didn’t mean it and so on. Just shows you what the media are all about. Get sympathetic with future ENGLAND star Shawcross and forget as fast as you can the Ramsey incident.
Arsenal skipper Fabregas promises Piers Morgan he’s not leaving the Gunners

In his Sunday Mail column, Piers Morgan recounts his chance meeting with Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas at Naomi Campbell’s Haiti fundraising fashion show earlier this month. Fabregas promised Morgan, an avid Arsenal fan, that he is not leaving the Emirates Stadium.

Media star Morgan claims to have asked Fabregas three times whether he will be leaving Arsenal and received clear reassurances such as “I’m not leaving Arsenal” and “No Piers, I am not quitting Arsenal.”

Barcelona in particular have been heavily linked with midfield maestro Fabregas over the past few weeks. He has been in irrepressible form for Arsenal this season, scoring 15 goals and providing 10 assists in 30 appearances.

Morgan summarized his conversation with Fabregas, “Three times I asked the question, three times he reassured me. Yet still I’m nervous.”
some good news but still can’t get over the fact that its always us who gets these kind of tackles
I mean teams come out and say that the only way to stop arsenal is by kicking them
how is that right? if you play the player rather than the ball then these kind of things will happen and its the referee’s and FA’s job to make sure this kind of thing never happen again.
They need to place stricter laws on players and protect the players like they do with the goalkeeper to stop this from happening again.

well we all have seen the plan of many teams in this league kick arsenal and win the match which is really sickening in the 21st century, and three match ban for a insistent when and player is going to be out for about a year or more is rediculous, but all this will go back to the press cos they praise poeple like stock Tony pulis about there style of football and archievement and then critise arseanl and wenger of his lack of archievement in the last five years, and i have not seen skysport interviewing any body about the tackle but we all remember what happen with the tackle by gallas on davis of bolton when where calling everybody

The tackle may not be malicious but it was reckless. If the player does not have the skill to execute such a tackle, he should not even try. Even F1 drivers need to reach a certain skill level before being allowed on the track, otherwise they will a danger to other drivers. Stoke’s manager is also to blame, psyching his players to a level of aggression not commensurate to their skill level.

The pathetic excuse that Ryan Shawcross is not that type of player is patently not true as he has already broken the leg of another player and tried to our players before.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1083214/Arsenal-striker-Adebayor-ruled-weeks-Stoke-clash.html
Stoke are team of thugs, wrestler and basket ball players who foul their ways to victory and safety in the premiership.
Because of the little Englander mentality, teams are allowed to kick and maim other with impunity.
Because of the injury, nobody mentionned that we had two legitimate penalties appeal turn down (unless the rules have changed and shoving and kicking is now allowed against Arsenal).
Song was booked for winning cleanly the ball and will miss two games.
In the mean time a thug that has wrecked the career of at least two fellow professionals will be banned for three games and will represent his country against Egypt.
UEFA recommends that there is multiple balls in place around the stadium to speed things up. Under the recommendation of smaller team the premiership banned that and forced team to have a simple ball around the pitch to avoid team play too quickly and catch their opponent by surprise.
FIFA banned goalkeepers from drying the ball with a towell in the hope that more goal will be scored. The premiership allowed Rory Delap to take 30 seconds for each throw to dry the ball.
Can you reconcile if it is not a definite ploy to help the little guy contrary to the letter and spirit of the game.

Sadly it isn’t just Arsenal who receive tackles which cause injuries.

– Kieron Dyer suffered an horrific leg break at the hands of Bristol Rovers’ Joe Jacobson.
– Dean Ashton suffered a career ending ankle injury at the hands of Shaun Wright-Phillips.
– Scott Parker suffered a lengthy injury at the hands of Arsenal’s own Mathieu Flamini.

All teams receive and have almost certainly dished out these tackles. However, now it is quite clear that the Shawcross tackle was just mis-timed, rather than malicious, it would be good if this site could change it’s article and not put the blame on Shawcross.

All the best to Ramsey. A prodigious talent for Wales and Arsenal. One of the best young players in Europe, certainly in the central midfield position.

Either hes malicious or simply incompetent. He has broken legs before and it will probably happen again if the FA dont make a strong statement. You just can not commit that way in a “50-50” situation, and especially not follow through when the opponent clearly gets there first. A person who is not smart enough to understand the dangers of such a tackle simply dosent belong on the pitch especially considering it has happend twice.

And blah blah blah, poor Ryan. Hes 22 and obviously had his mother driving him home, cute. I couldnt care any less if hes sad about this, just try to imagine yourself in Ramseys shoes. This shit need to stop ASAP.

Iceland-Arsenal fans are disgusted by the way Arsenal are treated year after year.

There must be something done to stop this ! This is not football in any understanding.

Im sick and feeling afraid before any game. I wonder who will have his leg broken next ?

Good stop this horror.

Hi, can someone clarify this – a couple of years ago there was a new rule put in place by the FA. This rule stated that any player who is serving a domestic ban can not represent England. If this is still the case how come Shawcross has been called up or can i assume that this rule was removed?
