Arsenal’s Under 18’s begin their difficult final run in tomorrow with the longest trip in the League, to Wales to face Cardiff City. With an 11 game unbeaten run, Steve Bould’s side have remained consistent where his team selection hasn’t. Injuries and Reserve team duty has depleted the resources on various occasions this season, opening the door for some of the starlets of the future to make an early mark. One player who looks to be taking advantage of the game time is promising midfielder Jamie Edge.
A summer signing from Cheltenham Town in a protracted transfer saga, Edge began his career with Arsenal in the Under 16’s where he always looked ready for a step up to the next level. Form at Under 18 level has been difficult to come by, with injuries scuppering the potential to put together a string of games. After last weekend’s excellent performance against Milton Keynes Dons, Jamie is showing real signs that he is beginning to settle down to life with the Gunners and show his real qualities.
Jamie started on the right of a three man midfield and turned in a typically hard working and stylish performance. The delightful back heel to release Oğuzhan Özyakup for Benik Afobe’s second goal showed exactly why Liam Brady was happy to splash out £100,000 for his services. Throughout the game, the 16-year-old chased, hassled and fought for every ball in a dominant box-to-box role. Quiet but effective is the ultimate way of describing this hard working talent.
Whether Bould feels Edge is ready for a tough game such as Cardiff City, we’ll find out tomorrow. Home games are easier to show off his technical talents, yet at well over 6 foot, a physical away game would be no problem for the former Manchester United trialist.
With such a large price tag and little to show for it so far, many will be critical of Jamie Edge, but as he begins to settle in, the signs certainly look good that Arsenal have another promising and versatile prospect on their hands.
I think he need to work a lot harder on his hair grooming if he trying to compete with Beckham
any vids of him ?
Which one in the picture is Jamie?

Beckham standing on conveniently placed rock obviously. He cares about image that one.
arsenal are screwed they got a draw against BARCELONA
Cue the Write-off-Arsenal brigade…
James Hinde you are screwd if this is your approach to all obstacles you face in life. Who would ever win if they went out and thought they would be slaughtered?
Thank god our team is build up by winners! Winners that has shown in recent matches they do not ever give up and they can score in the last minutes. They win ugly but can also play preatty, they are still in both competitions and they can still winn both!
It is not over until the fat lady sings remember, and she has not even entered the scene yet!
Really have high hopes for Jamie. He looks a top prospect. Hope he comes good!
I hope the Emirates goes off tonight because we need to warm up for Barca! Don’t underestimate our side, We fight highly physical games every week with refs that let it go and still have no red cards. This means that when we play in Europe (with refs that penalize fouls) we are a different force altogether. Porto are an example of that. Who knows? Maybe with players all coming into form at the right time we will out score Barca! What an opportunity to prove we are as good we know we can be.
100% agree with you. I was pleased when we were drawn against Barca – because this is the best oppurtunity to doubt the haters, and if we lose, we would have lost against the best team in the world. We can’t lose either way. And anyway, Henry vs Arsenal was always a mouth-watering prospect :)

I love this site!
This clash with Barca may be coming a bit early for us but it’s going to be very intersting how we cope woth them at this point of our development. I think we are on the verge of becoming the best team around and in the next few years we’ll start dominating both Premiership and Champions League, mark my words.

It’s a shame we’re meeting Barca in the last eight but it’s a game I can’t wait for even though we could get spanked. Not sure if we can get past them but it’s going to be a stunning couple of games of football.
This is where we find out how good we really are.
Bring it on!!!
if we can stop messi barca are screwed clichy and sagna will have to at their best
