Championship Loanees Return To Arsenal Training

Arsène Wenger will run the rule over Arsenal’s Championship loanees after they returned to training with the club yesterday. Jay Simpson, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Henri Lansbury and Kyle Bartley are all with the first-team after completing their loan spells on Saturday. Injured Frenchman Gilles Sunu is also back to receive treatment.

Wenger’s first-team complete their season on Sunday when Fulham travel to the Emirates for a much anticipated derby. Traditionally the final game of the term always plays host to second string players, although they’ve been restricted to appearances from the bench in recent campaigns.

Pre-season will really be a time for all the loan players to be looked at but with quick transfer business on the agenda ahead of the World Cup, Wenger is keen to shape his squad in the coming weeks. Jay Simpson is the only one of the players back at the club now who’s future is unknown. Queens Park Rangers are interested but a slack second half to the year leaves them unconvinced, with a promotion push on the cards.

Emmanuel-Thomas and Lansbury are expected to be included on the bench while Bartley may miss out, with Johan Djourou hoping to be included again, and a selection of teams already enquiring about loans.

Arsenal’s first-team season may have finished with a slump, but a few interesting twists look set to be on the cards come Sunday.

The season for Coca-Cola League One sides isn’t over yet, so Hoyte, Szczęsny, Watt, Randall, and Ayling are all still with their loan clubs.

When do the 4 youngsters’ contracts run out?

I’m guessing that Simpson’s runs until next season and the rest are on 3 year deals.

Simpson has 4 years to run, having signed a 5 year deal only last season

Is anyone else as scared as I am that we won’t finish 3rd?? If Spuds finish ahead of us, then I will be so angry. And I don’t even live in North London, or england for that matter hahaha. Seriously I will be pissed, because it would be inexcusable. What if the young guns can’t beat Fulham’s reserves?? And that is no slight on them, it will probably be a great match to watch. It means we would have to play 2 more fixtures next September like we did this year against Celtic right?? Very unecessary if you ask me. PLus it means that Spurs finish ahead of us, which would be soooooo embarassing, and like I said, I don’t even live in England.

It serves the players right for showing no passion or desire in the last 2 games… They have allowed the spuds to catch us and now we have to get a positive result vs Fulham. And its a fucking good job they have the Europa Cup to play 3 days after they play us.

If they cant raise themselves for this, then they dont deserve to play for the club.

I agree, I have seen the lack of passion and desire in the squad these last few matches. It has permeated throughout the entire campaign if you ask me, and it has now come back to roost. It is all down to the final matchday now just to secure 3rd. I DO blame this one on Wenger because, even in his interviews he has been so dismissive regarding the challenge that Spuds have posed to our 3rd place position. Fuck him and his stupid antics at times. He really has pissed me off with this one. Light into your team and get them to play. I don’t have a problem with his transfer policies, in fact I really like them, but the fact that he cannot LEAD the team into battle is a major problem for me. Pick a fucking team that wants to win EVERY SINGLE FUCKING MINUTE OF EVERY SINGLE FUCKING MATCH. Sorry but this has been building up inside of me these last few weeks. IF THE KIDS WANT IT, THEN PLAY THEM. Don’t give me half assed efforts from the likes of Diaby, Nasri or Walcott. I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEM AS PLAYERS!!! BUT I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE AMOUNT OF EFFORT THE TEAM, AND PARTICULARLY THESE 3 HAVE DIESPLAYED IN THE LAST FEW MATCHES!!!! Are they trying??? It doesn’t really look like they have been these past few weeks. I don’t care who Wenger puts out there, as long as I FEEL they are trying their hardest to win the fucking match. THERE!! The end!!!!@#%$%^&*$$#%#%$#$#$@%#^$

I live in Milton Keynes and there’s a srong rumour from local sources that Mark Randall was caught smoking by Arsenal coaching staff before his loan move to MK Dons. This lead to him being shipped out.

Anyone got any further info on this? Would be interested to know.

For me Henri lansbury has to start hes got passion and has something to prove.

Samir nasri for me has been the massive let down especially when he gets to play in his favourite position. Hes been crap. We have missed Aaron ramsey in central midfield hes the closest we have to Fabregas in terms of controlling a midfield

Samir nasri for me has been the problem. We have looked so short of ideas, creativity mainly because of nasri and his inability to be direct.

Every time we are in a promising position he always seems to pass the ball sideways and he always tends to e give the ball away in the finla third.

i personally think jack wilshere, aaron ramsey, henri lansbury could do a better job in central midfield than nasri and are more stronger, faster, more assured on the ball than nasri as well

Samir Nasri is a brilliant player. He’s better than Ramsey and light years ahead of Henri Lansbury. I wouldn’t mind seeing Lansbury play in tough competition like the Prem but not Sunday. We need to score so if any youngster plays in that game it has to be JET. He’s scored more and assisted more in 4 months than Lansbury could in an entire season.

Agree with KC. Those players aren’t stronger than nasri btw (except maybe lansbury). Samir has just had a drop in the last few games. Probably brought on by the disappointment of the way the season has ended, but he has also played a lot of games without a break now.

Nasri had to take on the DM role against Blackburn. Of course he didn’t create anything. He belongs in the Cesc role, though Wenger wants him on the wing. Hopefully he can increase his runs into the box without the ball

Wenger on Nasri: “Nasri has played more in midfield because we lost Cesc Fabregas and he is the one who can play in this role. But I see Nasri in a wide role [in the future] because he has the tricks, the pace and don’t forget that Fabregas plays in the central role.”

It is unfaire to single out Nasri when the whole team has been poor.
I would prefer to have Djourou or Bartley at CB ahead of Shitvestre.
Diaby has also been pretty poor after such a good start to the season. I’d put JET in ahead of him along side Nasri.

A shame we didn’t finish the business against Blackburn. Would have been great to see them kids getting a run against Fulham. Especially since it gives you a clue which of the youngsters Wenger rates. Hopefully we’ll be up by three nil at halftime so the one of the Championship loanees can get a shot together with Barazite!

Hey Jay, please update the top-scorer list.. and i believe you are working on the idea of assembling the statistics of our on loan players.. if you have time please do the same for the reserves and Under 18’s as we actually get know which of our youngsters has got hold on the ARSENAL way of football which is indeed different from any other i have observed as it includes some of Arsene’s ideologies that make it a lot more better….

Good to see Ramsey seemingly standing comfortable unaided at the Arsenal Charity Ball. Hopefully, with him being young, his leg will heal a lot quicker than Edu’s break. Fingers crossed he could be back a November time
