Loanees: Afobe & Evina Score As Lansbury Assists

Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium. You can read all the latest reports below.

Aaron Ramsey is expected to feature for Nottingham Forest as they play Leicester City on Monday night.

Henri Lansbury started and played 80 minutes on his Norwich City debut against Ipswich Town in the East Anglian derby. Lansbury, who starred on the right of midfield, claimed an assist by playing in Grant Holt for the second of Norwich’s four goals. Henri also started the moves which led to the third and fourth strikes.

Vito Mannone played the full 90 minutes for Hull City and conceded his first goals since joining the Tigers as they drew 2-2 with Middlesbrough at home.

Kyle Bartley played the full 90 minutes at centre back as Sheffield United were beaten 3-0 by Bristol City. Bartley was not at fault for the any of the goals as City cruised to victory.

Sanchez Watt was not part of the Leeds United side that drew 0-0 with Reading.

Benik Afobe played the full 90 minutes, scored and assisted as Huddersfield Town thrashed Macclesfield Town 6-1. You can read a more in depth report of Afobe’s performance here.

Thomas Cruise played 45 minutes for Carlisle United as they edged Tamworth 3-2 in the second round of the FA Cup. Cruise, who went off injured last weekend, came on at left back at half time.

Gavin Hoyte played the full 90 minutes at right back for Lincoln City as they drew 2-2 with Hereford United in the second round of the FA Cup. The fixture will now go to a replay.

Francis Coquelin played the full 90 minutes against Rennes. Coquelin turned in another fantastic display in a defensive midfield role, making two great tackles on France star Yann M’Vila.

Armand Traoré was an unused substitute for Juventus as they drew 1-1 with Fiorentina.

Nacer Barazite was not part of the Vitesse Arnhem side that drew 1-1 with De Graafschap.

I seen Coquelin play afew times he is defintley going to be a great player for Arsenal with him and Frimpong having a right battle to see who suceeds from Song.

I love Coquelin workrate is he increible although Frimpong is a monster also either way its great for the club.

Whats the story with Galindo not even getting a chance at Salamanca… from the way people speak about him he is meant to be an awesome talent. We really should not be sending him to a club that wont give him any opportunity.

Wenger should plz allow Wellington Da Silva steps into the first team action cos he is a brilliant striker far better than Bentner.

Hull drew _away_ at the Riverside. A good point for them. Mannone yet to taste defeat at Hull I believe. A few match reports highlighted a save or two that he made.

He has a brilliant eye for a pass. There are plenty of things for him to improve on, but that vision alone could be worth a LOT of goals.

What I don’t understand is why he’s so often used on the flank instead of in the centre. Might this be at Wenger’s request? Perhaps for Lansbury to improve certain aspects of his game (dribbling, defending) before he eventually comes inside.

Great weekend for most of the young stars on loan. Congratulations All – keep up the great work rate. Afobe appears to have loads of goals in is locker and is continually finding the back of the net throughout his career so far. Personally I love his attitude and work rate. It is a shame the young guns had the Carling Cup taken away from them, to give the First Team an opportunity to come away with silverware this season.

Seems like Barazite is dropping off the radar fast and that Traore could be too. These once highly rated talents have really lost their way, do you think they can salvage their careers? IMO Traore still could but Barazite, just does not seem to impress wherever he goes, other than Arsenal reserves!! Really hope Wenger gives up on trying to make Eastmond a DM and Coquelin an RB and lets them both go back to their better positions. Coquelin is far better than Eastmond at DM and Eastmond is far better than Coquelin at RB, that said Hoyte is a better RB than both of them and he looks to have no future at AFC.

They haven’t really progressed in the past 12-18 months and that’s why they will probably move on in the summer. Although, it’s not so clear with Traore – he is French afterall.

As for Frimpong and Coquelin. I have no doubt in my mind that if Frimpong comes back strong from his very unfortunate injury and they both keep progressing the way i personally anticipate, then there will not be a more ferocious and efficient DM pairing anywhere in world football. They both have the qualities the current first team badly lack – desire in the middle of the park to win the ball back ASAP. They’re a couple of busy bodies with a lot of aggression in their game. They ate up every team they came up against in that illustrious youth cup winning side.
