Arsenal Duo Poised For World Cup Duty

The FIFA Under 17 World Cup gets underway in Mexico this evening, and two of Arsenal’s lesser known youngsters will be taking part.

Dutch midfielder Kyle Ebecilio will be a key force in the Holland side, looking to follow up on their Under 17 European Championship title, won last month. The 17-year-old played a starring role there, and will be will be looking to have a similar influence in the tournaments opening game against Congo tonight.

English clubs will provide a range of players, across a number of different countries. Liverpool’s Tom King and West Ham’s Dylan Tombides will play for Australia, Chelsea’s new £8 million forward Lucas Piazón will turn out for Brazil, while the MK Dons’ Jevani Brown is part of the Jamaica setup.

The England team kick off their tournament tomorrow, against Rwanda. Arsenal will be providing one of the key players in the game, but despite being born in London, he won’t represent England. Exciting winger Alfred Mugabo, who only declared his desire to play for Rwanda a month or so ago, is set to be one of the Wasps key players.

Mugabo is a tall and skillful winger, who can play on either flank, or up front. He’s already shown bags of potential in a number of Rwanda’s warm up games, despite being the youngest in their squad.

The majority of the fixtures will be shown live on Eurosport.

Ebecilio did very well in Euros and I expect the Dutch to be one of the best in the tournament.

Interesting to see Mugabo play and how he fares vs England.

    Mr. Sanderson

I wasn’t able to take part in the web chat yesterday, and after reading over it I have a question. How highly do you rate Ebecilio? And also, I haven’t heard of Mugabo yet. Do you rate him highly?

    Thanks

What do you base that on? Not yet made a senior appearance & his club was happy to let him go. He also didn’t have a good tournament last time he played in SA cup. Jury still out

I like the sound of this Alfred Mugabo chap, it’s always good to see a young’un be honest with himself when it comes to international football.

Might be wrong about this, but it seems like the Netherlands are playing Mexico while Congo is playing Korea tonight

It sucks that Alban Bunjaku is not there but England are never big on creative players.

Half time here for the Congo vs Holland game and I must say, Congo are making the European champions look very average. Memphis Depay has almost been none existent in the game. Congo has some nice talents that are supposedly 15 years old but then again it is always frustrating watching the African youth teams because of the constant age cheating. Can’t wait to see Rwanda play now though with the Arsenal youngster in the team. By the way, wait until you see this kid Adryan from Brazil. Brilliant talent.

Man, if these kids truly are 15 they are spectacular. The number 10 KOUNKOU (attacking mid), 8 BINGUILA (Center mid) , the 2 center backs in BASSOUMBA (2) and MAYANITH (13) were all quality. Then the number 20 TCHIBOTA (winger) was ridiculous on the ball.

Lame, the Arsenal kid is not even a starter for Rwanda though he is the youngest player on their team so I will hold out some hope about it.

Am a Rwandan Gooner, and this chap Alfred Mugabo from Arsenal is technically good, but a bit younger. England spanked us 2 nil but Alfred was an unused substitute. the info i have is that he will play against Uruguay.
Liked the England winger called Raheem Sterling; a lot pace like Walcott but with too much trickery.

    Cheers J

I am loving the wingers in this competition so far. Raheem Sterling, Memphis Depay (even tho he did not have a good game) and the best one so far Tchibota from Congo.
