Bartley Returns To Rangers On Loan

Kyle Bartley has followed up the signing of a new contract at Arsenal by re-joining Scottish Champions Rangers on loan.

The 20-year-old rebuffed a selection of Championship offers to return to Ibrox, where he impressed in the closing stages of last season during a similar loan stint.

Bartley took part in the Arsenal photo shoot at the Emirates Stadium today, joining new first-team players Emmanuel Frimpong, Henri Lansbury, Benik Afobe and Ryo Miyaichi in doing so. However, as mentioned earlier in the day, Kyle was always set to move on loan for the season.

The paperwork has been finalised in time for Kyle to be involved in a friendly against Chelsea on Saturday.

Any news on whether Rhys Murphy is joining him?

Surely this now means another CB is on his way to us? with a view to Bartley taking over from Squillaci next season?

Rhys is due to go and have a second trial next week. Ally McCoist seemed impressed with him when he played a behind closed doors game.

Do you think this increases our chance of buying a centre back?

Looks as if Arsenal and Rangers are building a good relationship for the future loaning of players to Ibrox…

I just hope Bartley can be patient!!!! That is what it’s gonna take to be successful now at Arsenal. For some reason, I don’t know what, Wenger is reluctant to throw him in to the deep end, so he’s just going to have to persevere and show how good he really is on loan unfortunately. I saw him play A LOT last season and I really was impressed with him. He’s got everything, power, heading ability, even technique. He can read the game pretty well too, so I’m not too sure what Arsene is waiting on here. He knows way more than I do though!!!!

I think this means either 2 things:

    1. We will buy in a new centre back

    2. or Wenger will trust the same lot as last year.

Hope its not the later as this means Squillaci will be trusted to be 4th choice.

If he played for Rangers in CL it would have been impossible for him to play for Arsenal in CL this season if necessary.

Arsenal Will not sign a new defender this season. If an injury comes up they Will just break the loan With Rangers

Considering Arsenal have bid for Jagielka and Phil Jones, Wenger obviously knows he needs another centre back in the team so if he doesnt get one he’l have failed on this! We need a stable no-nonsense defender and everyone knows it

We don’t need 2 center backs. Kocsileny and Vermaelen are going to be a class combination and Song and Djurou are also good options. Thats 4 good center backs. I am more worried about only having 2 defensive mids and one being a young player in his first true campaign at this level. Also the left back spot worries me a lot more. If I had to pick our weakest position right now it would have to be left back.

But what if Vermaelen gets injured again? We need some proper back up for Vermaelen in the role of leading central defender. Koscielny and Djourou are very good, but it still feels a little thin with only 3 central defenders you can trust.

And Song isn’t even a CB, he’s going to be horribly out of position if he plays there.

Better safe than sorry. I agree on the left-back spot though.

Song is a CB as well mate and a very good one at that. You didn’t know that? Any team has the same issues. Yes if you get a freak injury that takes out a player for a whole year then you are going to have some issues. At least we have a couple good back ups at CB. I would have rather kept Bartley and got rid of Squilacci to be honest tho. Look at our depth at Defensive mid and Left back tho. It is a bit shocking. Then look at RB and if we sell Eboue (I hope we don’t), it leaves a kid that has a amaing 9, 3rd division games under his belt. These are risky things to say the least.

JS – Any news Coquelin come back for Arsenal first team to challenge for DMF? Competition is always good. Wenger is giving Gibbs/Troare combination a work out this season and if this don’t work sucessfully, then he will looks to dip into transfer market. IMO ….. Fabregas will never be able to replaced but Mata can improve the squad. Nasri cannot do better if he left for a defensive team (Machini Man City team) but he is replaceable for sure.

i’m a bit worried about the left back position as well with gibbs rumored to be injured, that only leaves traore in his first real campaign.strangely the cb postion isnt as bad compared to the lb,all opportunities of a long ball has to cut out, considering that our defence isnt as experienced compared to the other top three.have to make sure that we dont let the ball out of the midfield fimpong is better than song in my opinion as song didnt perform at all during the latter part of the season.considering the importance of this season.i would have expected a more experienced line up..with the cesc & nasri situation doesnt look at all good, wenger will have to introduce something completely out of the blue

Wenger is a good businessman. He will again try to convince Nasri to sign an extension, if he does not agree he will be sold for sure. Nasri is a good player, but club comes first before a player. We just need a good defender.

Barazite scored a hattrick yesterday for Austria Wien in the Europa League. I know we can’t keep them all, but he was a very good talent.

I’m sure wenger and the other scouts from Arsenal have seen videos and live matches with him playing for Rangers and have come with the conclusion that he is not yet ready to make maybe 20 matches or so for Arsenal this season. I’m sure he did some mistakes with Rangers that could lead to a goal for us in the PL and CL.

I couldn’t understand why some people think he was good enough to replace scullaci this season. They are almost in the same level anyway. Bring in a CB and then next season let Bartley compete for a place is the right thing to do. However we need to secure Djourue immediately. Why are we waiting til the last minute to do anything?

Yeah, because none of our current CBs have made errors that led to a goal.

And maybe Wenger is sending Bartley on loan so as to fasttrack him into a higher starting position in the squad, rather than being 5th choice.

Arsenal fans will eat you alive. You must realize that. Bartley makes one mistake and they will be on him like nothing else and shatter his confidence. Think about it. Djurou was undefeated in the league in like 30 games and had an amazing .68 goals against average yet the fans jumped down his throat.

Arsenal.com states Bendtner has not travelled neither has Almunia, Eboue, Koscielny, Diaby, Wilshire, Nasri, Fabregas, Walcott. Only 19 players have made the trip, i think they are
      Sczcesney
      Sagna
      Djourou
      Vermaelen
      Traore
      Song
      Lansbury
      Ramsey
      Gervinho
      Van Persie
      Arshavin
      Fabianski
      Jenkinson
      Squillaci
      Rosicky
      Frimpong
      Chamakh
      Vela
      Gibbs or Afobe

Its a bit questionable sending this guy out on loan. I’m not one of the rabid Squillaci-haters camp (he is unfairly blamed for not saving what are often multiple defensive breakdowns) but that said Bartley has looked worthy of playing as that 4th or 5th defender which is what Squillaci is. In other words Carling Cup and relieving the seniors for smaller games.

Squillaci is decent but just lacks the foot speed and phsicality to play behind a high octane Arsenal offense that leaves defenders exposed. Bartley is better equipped to deal with this.

And if Bartley isnt going to be here, Squillaci isnt good enough, so why does he remain on the roster. Pay him off fairly and find him a new team.
