Arsenal's Rasmussen Setting Himself Targets

Danish midfielder Jonas Rasmussen joined Arsenal in the summer, from French side Auxerre after coming on trial during the Nike Cup tournament at the end of last season.

A central midfielder by trade, he has operated as a right winger or even a striker this season. and admits that despite him lacking in pace, he uses his football mind to operate the midfield.

I have been used as a forward when we have been short, but my usual position is central midfield or wide right, when i played wide i like to pass and move.

“I’m not like alot like Theo Walcott who uses his pace to get forward, i suppose i am more like Abou Diaby i enjoy the creative role and working on all aspects of my game as i am at an idea place to develop”

An injury held him back at the start of the season, but after scoring on his Under 16’s debut, he has become a regular in the Under 18’s after starting against Norwich in December, and even featured against Colorado Rapids in a friendly recently, playing with various members of the first team, including Gilberto, Theo Walcott and Robin Van Persie.

Jonas has set himself targets after settling quickly at Arsenal, for the rest of the season, including pushing on, and playing Reserves League football, further adding to his impressive and down to earth attitude, proving that not only raw talent will help you become a footballer, but also recognition of your talents and a positive out look.

“I have settled in really well and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season, i am working on my technique but also my strength”

“I would also say everything is going the right way for me, and i will do all i can to make sure that continues, i hope to play more Reserves games if i can this season so as to help build my experience”

How would you say Rasmussen has progressed this season?

I only get to see highlights of the youth matches and although I watch all the reserve games live he has not played for them yet, so I was wondering how you’d rate his chances at Arsenal?

He seems a little lazy to defend, but high technical level and a really good passer.

he seems very commited and very down to earth, good attitude and a real talent will go far in football.

its too early to say if he will make it, but he is very promising.
