Arsenal Mooted To Be Readying Haynes Offer

Arsenal are reported to be lining up a bid for Ipswich youngster Danny Haynes after Steve Rowley personally made a check of the 20 year-old during last night’s Carling Cup clash against Leyton Orient.

Haynes bagged two goals in a 4-1 romp for The Tractor Boys and has attracted growing interest from the Premiership over the past two seasons. Danny is an electric striker who can also play wide on the right or left, and has been capped by England at Under 19 level.

After coming through the famed Ipswich Academy, the fleet-footed forward spent time on loan at Millwall in 2006, and impressed with two goals in five appearances. He picked up an award for the most improved player at the end of the campaign and instantly became a fans favourite.

Former Gunner Kanu selected Haynes in his team for a charity match against Portsmouth during the summer, and following another goal he was linked with a permanent move to Fratton Park.

He has also had his fair share of controversy after picking up a £1500 speeding fine, but admitted he couldn’t afford to pay the amount because he gives all his money to his mother. Danny has since had his licence revoked.

But on the field he remains one of the most exciting prospects in the Championship, mixing a cocktail of pace, power, energy and intelligent finishing, which is believed to be worth up to £3million for any potential new employers.

I have seen him on a few occasions but only highlights, and he looked like a much stronger version of Walcott but abit more raw.

    Mike – something called ambition?

BooMeR – It was mooted on some Ipswich forums.

Have seen him play a few times and he is a good player. However I would question where he would be able to fit into our team since we’re pretty full regarding strikers and have options on the right wing. Seems like we’re looking at that position though since we were after victor moses earlier this month.

JS, If rowley was there, then he is probably went to the match to Garvan the Irish player not Haynes, he would have a prayer even in our reserves. Or may be its is local club and he went down to watch some footy

I would say he is slightly better than Jay Simpson, and yep i agree about him being transformed into a winger. He likes to come from the left and drift inside to shoot.

Ive seen him play quite a few times. He plays mainly as a winger or impact sub for Ipswich atm but is bound to turn out as a striker. He’s very skillful, runs at defenders and is really a joy to watch. He’s like a more skillful Walcott with less ability, but doesn’t rely on his pace as much as Theo. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love for him to come here, but I’m not really convinced he’s the type of player we need as he is too similar to Simpson and would only be used as a squad player imo.

No no no. I’ve seen him play and he is not Arsenal quality! 1/2 the time his end prodcut poor. I would say he is quicker then Simpson, but Jay is far superior technically and is a better finisher. Would be a waste of money.

No i can see where ur comin from. As good as Henry Quincy is not, but similar playing style is a fair comment.

Cnt see us buyin this kid, who isnt rly a kid, hes a young man who will want games, he wont come in to replace ade or van persie, hes not better than vela or bendtner so he wont be brought in as back-up and hes definatly not better than eduardo, and if we need another striker, which we dont, we have barazite.

Good player, not sure how good but hes got something, however i cnt see it happenin.

Btw, (so sry for triple post, and this in the first paragraph has nothing to do with Haynes, or reserves), I saw Cana live today against the team from my home city SK Brann, he was composed, had good passes, and looked like a great leader! Looked really influential, organized the team brilliantly.

He looks decent, but I’m not sure if this is the kind of talent we need know, I believe we have great cover on the striker pos.

I mean, look at ManU, ok, Rooney and Tevez are great players, but they are too similar and both are weird midgets. Bendtner, Vela, Walcott, aaah, all those talents. I think… I think I’m getting some wood here..

peteE time for me to take over :) Danny Haynes is a good player and I wouldnt be DISSAPOINTED if we were to sign him, but with Barazite, Simpson, bendtner, vela, adebayor, RVP and players like sanchez watt and freeman THERE IS NO NEED. No doubt he is a good player but still he is 20 and is only a slightly better version of simpson.

On the midfield front, Wenger said that he will sign one before the second leg of champo league. We can only play the guessing game from here. My guess would be Inleer, Wenger did not deny hi interest and agent has claimed “positive talks” occured. If not I DO NOT want Cana. He is just speculation anyway. Another option would be City’s johnson, he wants out and he is used to the prem an dis a class player!

Johnson is exciting, and a good all round midfielder. But at current, i believe he doesn’t carry the defensive qualities needed for us to really challenge for the title this year. But I’m very positive he can be trained to become a very good defensive minded midfielder. He will never be a copy of Flamini, but as many here has mentioned, Flamini’s way of playing is not the only way to play DM.

If we are to buy a midfielder, we should go an aging guy, who can be challenged by younger players with time.

It is not always objective to judge a player’s ability from a few vid clips. But what I saw on the you tube clip makes me drool. Last season, Arsenal fell apart because we didn’t have players who were ready to take the burden on their shoulders. We had players through but they simply weren’t at that level to make an impact. I’m not knocking the likes of Simpson, Barazite or anybody else. I just feel the urge to admit that Haynes looks like a player ready to play himself into the limelight and the accuracy of his shooting and final ball into the net is really frightening. When you already have an abundance of talent in a team and you add more, what happens is that the level of competition goes up and the pressure to perform increases. This is what we need at this club. We need players who are hungry to get just 15 minutes to bang in goals. I hope there is truth in this story. Adding to quality can never be a bad thing and sooner or later, some young players will fail to make it here. That’s simply the bottom line. I’d like to see Haynes at Arsenal. He just strikes me as a signing that’s not a big name but big ability. No one will be disappointed with his signing I think.
P.S, let us stop worrying about what his signing will mean for Simpson or anybody else. The message these players need to be getting is that “if you don’t perform, there is someone else capable of snapping up your place” and having Haynes train with the first team will even get our first team striker really thinking. With Haynes and Simpson, I can put my money on Arsenal winning the milk cup. Haynes really looks like a cup tie player and I’ll be extremely delighted if he was signed.

According to the Middlesborough CEO, Keith Lamb, today, Arsenal have accepted their bid for Justin Hoyte, and been granted permission to speak to the player.

So there’s a good possibility that Justin could be off.

who cares he was crap, but does that mean rodgers or gilbert would be our second choice rightbacks at a later stage.
oh and ive seen a lot of owen garvan, hes class. hes has been described as gerrard and he playes like him aswell, so this signing would be welcolmed aswell as haynes.

daymee, I can see where you’re coming from but we don’t want another situation like we had in CM last year and look at us now. There is just no point when we have 4 other strikers ahead of him (without Eduardo) and there’re only two positions, sometimes even only one.

I need to say that all what we need now is to get strong and good DM. Momentally we are short of DM and in big matches we can t rely on Denilson, Song or Diaby. I would like to see Arsene again in Marsielle market. This time to get their skipper, Lorik Cana. Lorik is good fighter, tackler and he will suite Arsenal game. I have seen all his matches in ligue 1 in France and without any doubt he is amongst the best in Europe in DM position. Hope to get him asap.

Dunno about this guy, or if we need another up-front like him, or like Simpson.

Right now, I think we’d be better playing Simpson than Walcott. Simpson’s pre-season form wasn’t bad at all. Theo was a complete passenger in the Twente game, and he doesn’t seem to know how to inject himself or exert any influence. Maybe it’s positional sense, but honest to goodness, it’s better having Eboue running around trying to do something with the ball than Theo going AWOL for massive chunks of the game.

I don’t know what Wenger’s going to do, but I don’t think you can play Theo on his current form. You couldn’t ask for a bigger opportunity than the game last night and he wasn’t there.

wow a LOT of replies on this one! I’m an Ipswich fan first, Arsenal second. I was shocked to see this story as Haynes is good-promising to say the least, but he will need another couple of years to become a regular in the Ipswich side, so i would say he’s too oldfor Wenger to do much with him (yes i klnow he’s only 20). Garvan is the Cesc of the championship-if he can get a bit physically stronger and fitter, he could well play a starring role for a 5th-10th placed Prem team but prob not top 4. I think Haynes would become the next Chris Kiwomya if he moved to Arsenal!

but technique wise, he isnt that good…hes big, strong and very fast.
i honestly cant see why we need him because we already have walcott and jay simpson.
    i do think he’s a better play than j.simpson though…
soo arsene could do a swap deal…which i think is the best option
