Arsenal On The Trail Of PSG Striker Kamghain

Arsenal’s French based scout Gilles Grimandi is making regular checks on Paris Saint-Germain striker Jimmy Kamghain, with the Gunners leading the chase for the French Under 16 International.

The fleet-footed forward impressed for PSG’s Under 16 side last season, and has been subsequently promoted to the Under 18’s for the coming campaign. Blessed with electric speed and lethal finishing, his performances have led to many suggesting he could be the next big prospect to come out of France, and Grimaindi is on his trail.

Both Arsène Wenger and Grimandi have close connections with PSG, with Wenger often offering advice on the development of their Academy. Former Arsenal midfielder Gilles was linked with the Chief scout role at the Parisian outfit during the summer, but remained in his current role, helping secure Francis Coquelin’s signature.

Kamghain’s finishing prowess helped the Under 16’s finish top of the League, but his rapid rise has gone almost unnoticed of Europe’s biggest club’s, putting the Gunners in pole position. Recognised for his excellent technique, he fits the mould of a typical Wenger starlet as not only is he versatile, but also explosive in possession.

Young Guns has learnt that the player himself is a keen follower of Arsenal, and is open to a switch to London should an offer arrive. Gilles Sunu, Cedric Evina and Francis Coquelin’s influence could also prove a decisive factor in any transfer for the exciting youngster.

Sounds like an exciting prospect. I seem to remember the last young striker who we signed from PSG turned out to be half decent in Anelka.

Quick question J, where did we get Evina from what position does he play and what are his chances of making it?

    Cheers.

i know people that always moan about the purchase of kids on here have missed the point of the blog, but perhaps it highlights our increasing reliance on youth that buys like this could effect the first team. Basically, arsenal is youth. Just an idea.

Cedric was born in France, but moved to England aged 10 – quickly being scouted and signed to the Hale End Academy. The athletic and powerful left footed maestro adds a huge amount of versatility to Bould’s side, with the last campaign even seeing him feature for the Reserves whilst still a school boy.

I think its high time wenger stopped signing juteniles, for Christ’s sake arsenal fans are fast losing faith on the team,mr wenger should know that success is atributed to the number of trophies you win, whats wrong in signing a player like Benzema or David villa.

Hi Mr Sanderson. He sounds like he could be a good signing for the future but it seems unfair to the other clubs especially the French clubs with Arsenal sniffing around all the time.
Also I think u meant trail but good work anyway.

The First team and the Academy have different needs and just because Arsene is having issues to find the right midfielder for the first team, it shouldn’t mean they stop bringing in players for the Academy. One does not impact on the other.

Grimandi was linked with their Director of Football role. He’s already a scout at Arsenal, he wouldn’t move to another club to scout. The progression for them is Arsenal scout to Director of Football.

and Sanderson, you should delete all the comments posted on your blog about why are we signing this and that young player. we have enough blogs dedicated to our senior team where they can go and bitch. the only moaning on this blog concerning the signing on youth players should be how it impacts a current youth striker on the books. that would be an unreasonable moan because it’s about survival of the fittest, but at least the moan would be relevant to this arsenal youth blog.

It is best to get them young to overcome that “homegrown’ UEFA Rules which I think will kick in 2011..or is it 2010?

    Win-win all round.

Should Wenger retires to France after 2011/12 season, he had groomed future French stars for the National team, as well as for PSG should he takes up the challenge to revitalise PSG in 2012/13.

And of course, he will have the pick of French players to follow him home.

Anyway, it is better to pay 500,000 to 2-mil now for a 15-year old rather than pay 12-mil in 3 year time if he really turns out to be another Anelka.

Did it not make sense when we signed Clichy, Anelka or Fabregas either? Numpties like this are so bloody annoying. The youth talent at the club, up till now, has never effected the first team unless players of genuine quality broke through.

TRAIL is a different word to TRIAL. It’s not that hard to speak the English language properly. Trail means to follow, a Trial is a period in which something is assessed. They may look similar, but the words have very different meanings.

As of today, there is no policy about Homegrown players other than having to declare 4/8 HG players for Europe. Blatter is still trying to push the 5/6 thing through, although this is different. It cannot hurt to have many Home Grown players though, especially considering Chelsea weren’t able to declare Ballack for Europe because they were abusing the system.

Wenger abhors International football, the likeliness of him becoming French national coach is slim to none. Unless Wenger falls from grace (like a season playing like we did on Saturday), Arsenal will be his last job, for better or worse.

it s good to have young players anad to make them stars, but we – arsenal fans are getting older and older everyday. We can’t wait till this player or somebody of his age playing in first team to bring us silverware. So, please, bring in here some good players, especially DM and right winger, bc as I v seen last match we are nowhere. I must to say again that until Mr Wenger plays Eboue and Denilson he will be abble to match only with championship league teams.

Academy players come out of Liam Brady’s budget and not AW’s!Tawrik Jibril is set to come for a trial period but if signed will have to go to UD Salamanca for a year.
It is also true that Jimmy Kamghain is the hottest prospect in France but would come to Arsenal if an offer is made.

    Thanks Samuel.

I am afraid that the rest of Europe will gang up on premiership if we are going to dominate CL Cup and ahving 4 semi-finalists this season.

Platini, with the help of Blatter and other European leagues, wil definitely do something about getting more “homegrown” players in the team to even out the playing field as the likes of Abramovich cna simply buy any players they need…money no objection.

Arsene Wenger’s Academy si the wya to go.
Get a group of 15-16 years old to grow up together, develop an unique togetherness, to build a domiannt team with telegrpahic understanding.

Like watching a toddler taking the first step, fielding a team full of youngsters, once in a wrare hile, we will have a “Fulham”…

abc is 100% correct. Arsenal confirmed it as well in the official handbook.

    Cedric Evina
    Born: Cameroon, November 16, 1991.
Joined Arsenal as scholar: Summer 2008
Extra Information: Although born in CAMEROON, Cedric moved to England at a very young age and has been affiliated to the Club from the age of nine.
Left-footed and with pace to burn, Cedric is norminally a left-back but has alos been known to play wide midfield or even up front.
The youngster is used to playing above his age group, having made 22 Under-18 appearances last season while still a schoolboy, as well as two outings for Neil Banfield’s reserves.
Another product of the Hale End Academy.

Yea ill admit, for a few days after that match i myself was thinking, fuck, we’ve fucked this up now, we’re completely fucked. We might be fucked, but we should wait for the next few games atleast before we all start moaning and preparing to finish below tottenham…and inveraibly getting relegated seeing as they are doing shyte with a capital S so far.

Sounds like a good player, they should bring him in if they can.

    Name: Derrick Gyane.
    Age: 15 years old
    Height: 7 feet 15 inches
    Weight: 61.5 kgs.
    Nationality: Ghana
    Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to you requesting a trial to play for your football club.
I have been playing football for the past 5 ½ years and have played for various football teams in this period. I have played for my county and was the vice-captain of my U-14 team. I was nominated for the U-14 national Ghana team but could not attend the try-outs due to injury. I have also played for the top rated club in my county. I have been the captain of my academy’s U-15 team which was being run by Mr. Bill Adams, an ex- Norwich city player. I have also attended courses conducted by Mr. David Collins also an ex- Norwich city player.
I have a great left foot, a good right foot and am known for my ability to play pin-point crosses and long balls. I have good speed, great skill and great physical presence. I have been playing as a play maker in the center of midfield. I have also previously played on the right and left wings. I have decided to take action because my previous coaches and managers have told me that I could be a good footballer if I am given the right guidance. I have been playing at a relatively low level than that of English players. I am desperately keen to improve and think that I am ready to move to the next level.
I would love the opportunity to show you what I can do, and would be prepared to attend anywhere, anytime for a trial.
Thank you for taking the time out to read my letter and I hope to hear from you soon.
