Arsenal Refuse Barazite Derby County Cup Chance

Arsenal have refused Derby County permission to field Nacer Barazite during the Rams Cup fixtures, meaning the Dutchman was unavailable for tonight’s Carling Cup clash against Preston North End.

Nearly 350 days have passed since Derby’s last League win, but this evening offered a chance to put that run behind them. Nacer admitted it was no problem to miss out on the game, and will instead focus on Saturday’s trip to Barnsley.

“Unfortunately I am not allowed to play in the cups but that is not a problem so I will train hard this week for the game on Saturday, when hopefully we can get the three points.”

Barazite’s loan spell is due to come to a close on December 31st, meaning the 18-year-old would be eligible to feature during the FA Cup, and potentially the later rounds of the Carling Cup should the Gunners reach that stage.

However, Kerrea Gilbert has been allowed to play for Leicester City in their Cup run, the Hammersmith born prospect completed 90 minutes in the first round game, and should retain his place for the trip to face Fulham.

Gilbert will be looking to gain revenge for the Cottagers 1-0 win over parent club Arsenal on Saturday, and in turn send the promotion chasing Foxes through to the third round where the Gunners will enter the competition.

If Nacer Barazite plays for Arsenal again this season it will only be in the Carling Cup IMO

What’s the point? Eduardo and Vela will be playing in the CC and FA cup. Then again I suppose Wenger doesn’t want him to get tired and he probably doesn’t think Derby are gonan get very far anyway.

    Very much so.

Eduardo will only be starting to find his feet again by then, he will not be ready to complete 90 minutes.

I’ve heard if all goes well, Eduardo will be back playing matches in November so he may actually be fully match fit before January, which would give Barazite a chance to play with Vela. Having said that, Wenger might want to give game time to Bendtner and Eduardo.

Don’t forget he can play on the wing as well, so plently of chances if he comes back.

J…is this a season long loan or just until January?

Im guessing its until January, meaning that they are looking at him as a potential first team player when he returns probably providing they are impressed with his performances at Championship level.

Barazite will push Walcott for the Wing, and maybe even RvP behind the striker

“He can play anywhere really mate, any forward position.”

Yup, ive seen him play left and right wing, attacking mid, second striker and even lone striker for the reserves and he can do all of them no probs.
