Arsenal's Promising Youngsters Set For Loan Spells

Arsène Wenger has now gathered all the information possible on Arsenal’s promising young Gunners, and his decision? – several of them need vital experience on loan.

Wenger already had firm knowledge of the likes of Nacer Barazite and Håvard Nordtveit, but was keen to explore the majority of the other professionals over pre-season. 18 members of Liam Brady and David Court’s Academy products have been called upon by the boss, with the Frenchman now knowing who is ready to contribute and who is not.

He revealed after the 1-1 draw over Sevilla on Saturday his intention to send out his Young Guns, but towards the end of the last campaign showed caution over the lack of playing time some players have experienced, although he appears to have changed his stance.

“I may let one or two go on loan because they need to play, it is part of education.”

“It is not especially to get Premiership experience, but to play in the first team every week with that pressure. Then when we feel they are ready to integrate in the first team, they come back.”

Fran Mérida, Gavin Hoyte, Paul Rodgers, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Rhys Murphy and Jay Simpson have all been linked with moves away, but after they all showed promising signs during pre-season they could be kept on. James Dunne, Abu Ogogo and Rene Steer are all in the last year of their contracts, and are strong contenders to look for Championship experience.

With 3 weeks left of the transfer window remaining, deals are expected to start going through in the not too distant future as managers look to get their squads settled for the coming campaign.

    Nice post mate.

Who do you think is favourite to go out then?

I wouldn’t mind seeing Rodgers and emmanuel-thomas go out.

Thomas looked good against Sevilla until he became tired then completely faded.

I hope Merida stays as with some experience in the Carling Cup he could be a first team contender. Would also like to see Gibbs kept as back up to Clichy but would be an idea to send both Henri Lansbury and Mark Randall on loan, aswell as Nacer as hes got to many people infront of him.

I would like to see Dunne and Ogogo go out, they have not been the best in the system, but could show promise on loan.

I would expect Gibbs and Rodgers to go out though.

Randall shold be sold. He has been hopeless all this pre season. Not just in 1 or 2 of his pre season matches, but in all of them. I feel merida should stay as he can gain vital expereince by playing in the carling cup.

I hope Merida and Barazite can stay and compete for one of the wide positions, with Hoyte moving to Boro and Eboue reverting back to being used as a FB (his best position).

What do you think about Merida and Barazite’s chances next season of staying and going out on loan?

Kevin, Randall doesn’t try to do the right thing in a match, he tries too the Special thing, which isn’t bad. But, if Wenger was infront of you wouldn’t you prefer to make special moments?. I get the Lad, he’s just trying to shine in front of the boss, but it doesn’t work out for him. Unfortunatley.

Here we go again, another foolish comment about one of the most promising @ the club, you clearly have personal issues but that matters is WENGER LIKES HIM, he has already started a 1st team game in the CC ahead Merida who fans thinks he’s the best out of our production line.

Plus midfield and defence is where we are short the most so i cant see Randall,Gibbs & Merida out on loan. Also this is because some players from our last year’s CC will be moving much more closer to the PL&CL teams hence need replacing so those 3 players in particular will not be surplus to requirement.

Also remember last year when we ran out of attacking players hence we had to Flamoney & Gilberto in the middle and Cesc with nothing on the bench against Wigan away, end result = 2 POINTS DROPPED. Please use your brain before you start typing.

Barazite is physically not ready, Blackburn players pushed & shoved him about last year, but ability wise, he is ready

Randall is the one of the only youngster ive seen that plays calmly and with such ease.he has got the touch of a south american.he has got a real chance of playing for arsenal.he reminds me of edmilson/lucho gonzales.he may not be built physically but he has got a footballing brain.the rest will come later.

    just watch.

Rockypires, the players you said you would prefer to stay, are the best ones we have, and they’re not lacking much physcial attributes, so i’d say they’re the ones who need the Loan more.

    Guys.

Randall is a talented young boy, nobody mentioned how physically he has improved since returnign from Burnley. He had three months on loan, and openly admitted he needs more time.

The boss is just testing options, sure he has not had the best pre-season but against Sevilla he was forced to play defensive midfield against a side which even beat our first team.

Pre-season is just about testing yourself. Wenger is a master at youth development, he would have dumped Randall a long time ago if he was poor.

Look at the final game of the season, he came on and scored (the ref said it was offside, replays showed it wasnt).

I think first team training and intregation into the Arsenal system is more important to the more established reserves,
Take it Theo,Rosicky and Nasri are unavailable then Barazite are Wilshire start. Thats not including the game time these lads get in games against weaker oppostion where we can afford to give them half an hour here and there

Yep, all the scholars will get at least one session with the first-team. But the boss will clearly know who to watch out for.

I agree with J about Randall he could be a great player just needs time but I think Rodgers and thomas should go out loan both come be good for arsenal next season and I think rodgers could be a very good right back.

Lance, I agree with about the rodgers comment, alot of the boys from that semi-final FA youth cup are now too good for reserves football, they need to go to the next level which is competitive 1st team football of some sorts.

I personally think that Nacer Barazite needs to go out on loan because he is not going to get any first team football at Arsenal any time soon IMO

I think Barazite will do a Bendtner… go on loan, come back and be a 1st team member!

Definatly agree with J about Randall.

Loving the new Arsenal.com Site…. what the hell is Bendtner doing bang in the middle of the middle row of the squad photo, hes the only player in that row

Heaps of them will be loaned out.
Its a great way to teach them the pressure of performing wk in wk out.
If they are good enough to get games 25 plus they should come back more confident and compossed. Another development factor is that during the season on loan they will have the opportunity to improve their physicallity if thats what their game is lacking. Its all about survival of the fittest.
For the club it also lightens the wage bill for a few months.

    LOANEES
    Meida
    Barazite
    Boletho
    Gibbs
    Randall
    Simpson
    Gilbert
    Lansbury

we’ll keep 3 imo = Merida , Barazite and Boletho all coming back next season.
Possibly gibbs but we are already stacked in that position LM/LF = Clichy, Rosicky,Vela,WilshireTraore and bothelo- that one will be an interesting call next year.
Even if we don’t keep the other 5 mentioned above they will rake in a tidy fee of up to £10m combined.

Wenger has said many times that passport doesn’t matter, but i think there are some english youngsters that are gifted but maybe not gifted enough for playing top level. Wenger feel the pressure and a demand for bringing through english players. I won’t say any names of the players i think are not good enough but we’ll see. Anyhow, i hope Middlesbrough have a luck in buying of some english talent ;)
