Arsenal striker Nacer Barazite admits he is keen to learn all he can whilst on loan with Championship side Derby, and enthused that good times are ahead for Rams, despite a 342 day win less streak.
Barazite was a half-time substitute during the 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday afternoon, but struggled to adapt to the Championship pace out on the left flank. Derby were booed off after the final whistle, with sections of the White’s fan base calling for manager Paul Jewell to be sacked.
But the 18-year-old says he has belief in the squad, with the boys giving their all ahead of the fixture.
“We trained very well this week but in today’s match things didn’t come off for us – and unfortunately we lost the game,”
“This was my debut for Derby but I have faith in the club, in the team and in the fans, that we can do well this season. It was a difficult game to come in to and we didn’t play our best football today.”
The fruitless spell has left both the fans and players shot with confidence, however, the intelligent Dutchman praised the setup of the club and the Pride Park faithful for their support.
“This club is a great club, we play the same 4-4-2 formation as Arsenal, we have a great manager and staff and the crowd is fantastic too.
“That is why I am happy to come here and why Arsene Wenger was happy for me to come here too.”
He was then quizzed on the differences between the Reserves and that of the bustling Football League, and whilst he has only experienced 45 minutes, the things that differ are obvious according to the Holland Under 19 international.
“I played a lot of football at Arsenal in the Reserves and not that much in the first-team,”
“You can see how different it is with a big crowd around you, with more pressure on the games, and that is what I like as I want to become a better player. That is why I made this move. I have come here to become a better player and to help Derby win promotion, and hopefully we can do that.”
Naz’s loan spell runs until December, but Arsenal have asked County not to use the fleet-footed forward in any Cup competitions, meaning a return to North London in January seems likely.

Great spirit, I really hope he will be successful there!
very much hope so mate, he seems a very mature guy.
Nacer Barazite!!! This is the kind of attitude I was hoping he would have. I hope he will improve a lot over there, and I like that he is ambitious with the squad!!!
Seems like a good character to have in the first team squad. Great attitude as well, a lot of people are criticising Derby for their woeful performances – and rightly so. But I feel Barazite brings some positivity into the camp and might just help them improve their form if he gets more opportunites in the starting XI.
Great article by the way. :)
Very true, Derby are a team in crisis, and for many players they would be a horrific time for a youngster to be thrown in, but Barazite is relishing it and looking to fire them up the table.
And thanks :)
off topic j but do you no anything concerning djourou leaving arsenal?
I personally think that going to a strugling team in Derby County will make him a better football player in the long run because while Nacer Barazite was in the Arsenal reserve team he was playing on easy street IMO
why didnt djourou play yesterday? and is he really leaving?
He was just left out mate.
Barazite is now looking absolute quality for Derby – playing the lead role in the mgetting their first win in a year. He seems to be featuring as a left winger.
